The Pass serves exceptionally delicious food, the kind that you wouldn't find anywhere else. The chef takes enormous trouble to come up with original dishes that makes you want to know what is in them with the end result that they are so especially tasty. The ambiance is a little funky which has always been part of the charm of this restaurant. It is good that it has not had a glitzy makeover. My friend was very relieved when she saw that the general atmosphere under former management had been preserved.

The menu is fixed price and includes very creative and well prepared dishes. Service is very friendly and the ambiance is casual. It's only a few miles from Lambertville, but you may need your GPS if you are going here at night for the first time. It's a great find. BYOB. We'll be back!

A super dinner with talented chef Matt Ridgeway! The menu, which changes every two weeks, is set, two choices per course, and each dish is executed with creativity and flair as well as attention to the freshest local ingredients and inventive use of herbs and spices. Amazing breads! "Pork powder," pork belly, rillettes, etc., many dishes provide a nod to his love for the pig and evidence of his background with charcuterie products. Check out the well-made video on The Pass's website. Service is professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and well paced. "Grandma's cozy kitchen" decor with open shelves, homey atmosphere, and personal notes.

The only trend here is the commitment to buying the best local ingredients possible. After that, this kitchen's innovation in preparing those ingredients is incredible and unmatched in the area. Nothing is front loaded. Every dish through dessert is carefully crafted to have each bite build in flavor and texture for an evening of exquisite sensory experiences. We've eaten here over a dozen times and there has never been a disappointment. You do not go here to find a classic favorite, unless that is to bring home some charcuterie. You eat here to discover a new pleasure every time.

Just above Stockton, off the beaten path and far from NY or Philly here is a unique and transcendent dining experience. It's a BYOB with a very limited (VERY limited) menu that allows Chef Ridgeway to offer a level of quality and creativity that would not be possible anywhere near this price point otherwise. The menu changes every 2 weeks and that keeps things interesting so as long as you bring your foodie friends who "get it", a good bottle or two and your appetite you will be in for the best meal in the area. Been here about 7 time now and there are dishes that are huge hits and some where the chef's creativity may push limit's a bit but always fresh and interesting, frequently delicious with top notch local farm fresh ingredients.

Excellent food. A novel approach where the prix fixe menu is changed every two weeks. This gives the chefs a chance to be creative with whatever great ingredients are available and not to get in a rut. It's also a beautiful ou-of-way spot that makes you feel like you are off the beaten path.

Food at the Pass, with its limited but interesting menu, was very good and inventive. Service was sweet but a bit harried and uneven. Our neighbors received a full recitation of what was in each dish (there are a lot of ingredients) but we never did. It was difficult to get anyone's attention to pour wine being kept chilled. Flatware was not placed in traditional positions. The room hasn't changed much since its Cafe at Rosemont days, and to my eye could use a little sprucing up. All in, we'll definitely return to The Pass but will go with a different set of expectations than on our recent first visit.

Step back in time in this gem of a restaurant. Somewhere between a 1930s French bistro and an old American roadhouse deli, this place serves up a delicious four course prix fixe menu four nights a week for just $49. Our food was excellent- creative, not crazy, with beautiful presentation. The portion size seemed small at first, but it was actually perfect. Seeing the menu online beforehand let us pick a suitable wine toring with us. Service was friendly and casual, with knowledgable staff. Very enjoyable across the board!

We are now at the age that our tastes and experience have finally come together. We are regular and varied diners. Worldly, not in the sense of regular travel beyond our normal areas. We have been to several regions of France and England. Monte Carlo and sailed on many of the top notch cruise ships. Not yet to Italy or the Orient. We have experienced Seattle, Napa and San Francisco. Not the southwest or Chicago. Some, but not many of the New York scene. So, too the degree we have much more to explore there is no doubt. Compared to our regular venues of eastern Pennsylvania and central and south Florida "The Pass" is one of those unique experiences that stay in the memory. The video was a great tease but the experience was priceless

This was my first time here after haivng been a regular diner at The Cafe in Rosemont. I was thrilled that the generla decor was kept and that they are even using that refrigerated case in the front to sell homemade charcuterie. We did the 6 course chef's tasting menu and enjoyed the meal thoroughly. Yes, there were some items I liked and my wife didn't, and some we both said "that was pretty good, but I'm not sure I'd ever order it again", but overall, the menu was creative, tasty and enjoyable. I would have liked ot have seen the Chef's charcuterie incoporated more into the dishes, but I at least bought some to go home!

We have been several times now. The food is always excellent and innovative, with a nod towards home cooked rather than completely gastronomical. Local ingredients are normally used and it shows in the quality of the food and preparation. It's definitely unique in this area and we always look forward to making a reservation and heading on up ~20 miles to Rosemont!

Outstanding. Excellent. A hidden gem. This is the way we should all be eating - very French/European. Small plates, prix fixe style. Not the American way where we indulge in large, non-sensible portions. Excellent combinations of flavors, food designs, taking my palette on an adventure. Come with an open mind, and enjoy your experience. This is NOT your typical American meal portion size so get that out of your heads now. Also need to comment on the bread. This is served like Europe - WITH your meal and not as a prelude to your meal. Do not expect refills on bread because it comes as a compliment to your appetizer. Make reservations in advance. Menu changes weekly - awesome.

I get it must be hard to do a three course meal for $50 ... But in 4 bites dinner is over. Even in nyc best restaurants u get more food. This is just cheap. Even main dish was a piece of tuna one inch by one inch. It was grizzle not even sushi grade. Sent it back for some meat dish that tasted previously frozen. No accompaniments with dinner. So small not even a morsel of rice

After reading the reviews, we expected great food. We started well - the highlight was the house speck - deliciously soft and flavorful. My husband got the sardine and it too was quite good. My peach salad was a mystery - nothing really went together and the peach was not sweet. I kept making different combinations of bites, thinking I just wasn't doing it right, but my husband agreed; it didn't work. My main course of beef shin was very good but a little cold in the center. The burrata on top was delicious. My husband's tuna "pave" was appetizer size (if that) and did not have much flavor. His creme fraiche dessert was boring and my cheese was good but both pieces were very similar. On a positive note, the service was quite good.

I had read about The Pass and had high hopes based on what had been written. It was better than what I read. My wife and I don't go out often for upscale dinners since we have two young children but when we get the chance to do so we like to make it a great night. This fit the bill. We did the chef's 6 course tasting menu after considering the standard 4 course. We also had a cheese course first. The flavors from start to finish were outstanding, everything was super fresh, and the attention to detail was amazing. The in-house made focaccia was some of the best bread I have ever eaten. Super friendly staff. We can't wait to go back since the menu changes every two weeks. Atmosphere is relaxed in a charming environment.

Memorably poor service including "near-death" experience - ordered "duck rillettes", waited almost an hour, and PORK rillettes arrived. Seems kitchen ran out of what was on the menu, switched pork, and no one had told us. As one of our party has a pork allergy, this could have been disastrous. At least we had the epi-pen with us. We were assured nothing else would include pork. The next course: breadsticks wrapped with SPECK! 40 minutes to take our order. Not even a piece of bread for another 45 minutes. Bungled wine-opening so wine had cork. Extended gaps between courses. Food overall inconsistent and never served hot. Some excellent bites hinting at what should have been, but the rest unremarkable or sitting in kitchen too long. Sad

I would not recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is quaint and different from city restaurants, might be unique if you don't live in the area. The food was very disappointing. It seemed like the chef was trying very hard to be innovative and creative and failed terribly. The combinations of flavors and ingredients in each dish were odd. My dessert was a flan that was watery like an unset watered down pudding with a chocolate ravioli (yes you read right) filled with banana mush. The chocolate ravioli did not work at all. Try it if you are curious. Since the menu is quite small you might make better choices, although others in my party ordered a few different things and they probably won't go back either. Maybe it was a bad night?

A serious restaurant for those who enjoy well-prepared food with a twist and are willing to seek out such food in unexpected places. Food is the centerpiece and deservedly so. Wait staff is attentive and professional.
