I have been excited about dining at The Partisan ever since a friend of mine recommended it. Glad to say I was not disappointed. This is a meat lovers paradise. So many delicious choices to start on the charcuterie selections (Ordered like sushi on a fill in menu). Interesting main choices separated in to categories (beef, pig, fowl, fish, egg, vegetable) we chose rabbit pot pie. And sides to die for - brussel sprout slaw and beef fat fries. Impressive wine list and good cocktail mixologists. Knowledgeable servers that do a great job without interrupting your meal and conversation. There are many excellent restaurants in DC. This is one of the best.

Outstanding small plates and charcuterie. Squid ink pasta with sea urchin and tender, buttery blood sausage were undeniable highlights. Porcini mushroom cello (liqueur) made for a strong, unique, and utterly delicious after-dinner drink--imagine a smoky single-malt scotch with a touch of butterscotch and the aroma of an earthy garden.

Maybe overwhelmed from recent appearance on Post's fall dining guide, but food was lackluster e.g., rabbit pot pie was bland and watery, with a thick, underdone (think hot paste) crust. Service was slow and our waiter repeatedly pushed for at least one order from the "large" selections, which mostly ranged from $40 to $70. Fried apple pie arrived at the table with cold "soup" where the ice cream was supposed to be and what little apple taste there may have been was overwhelmed with spice and sugar.

The large format meats are a delight, had the rohan duck, shall be returning for the hog's head. The drink menu is a very well curated selection from not only wines, but also hard to come by beers, bourbon, ryes, and international whiskies. The service was attentive and the drink from cocktails to wine, to bourbon were a gem to find such variety and attention to detail. The Buffalo Trace experimental bourbons were such a happy surprise to find, as well as the other rare varieties littered across the drink menu.

I came here before the CAPS game with my boyfriend. It's close to the Verizon Center, about 2 1/2 blocks, and is connected to the popular Red Apron Butchery. The place isn't huge and its pretty dark with votive candles on each table. The bar in the back is brighter and pretty large. This place is chic and trendy. The charcuterie menu is similar to the way you'd order sushi, to make a platter. We really enjoyed the concept. We ordered a cheese platter to go along with the charcuterie, the beef fat fries, radishes & sugar snaps, and the roasted mushroom & kale salad. We were surprisingly full considering we didn't have large entrees. I also had a great rose recommended by the server. My bf got a bourbon cocktail that was great. We'll be back!

With encountered a lot of hype and buzz before going to Partisan and it did not necessarily live up to it. It felt too big and impersonal. We were on the slightly disappointed side. It could also be that we were there on a lazy Sunday night of the Columbus w/e but the energy leavel felt low and the attention to the food and service seemed slightly off. The menu looked innovative on paper but the execution did not lmake it all the way. We're willing to give it another try but and maybe order differently. However for right now hard to recommend it.

Made reservations the day before (which you might want to do because openings fill up very quickly here) and was seated right away. I recommend taking a look at the menu online before hand. It can be a little overwhelming and since you are definitely going to want to mix and match, portions sizes vary so it might be a good idea to at least glance at the menu before sitting down. Bring friends! You can go as a date, but this place is more fun with more people. There is a lot of food. Get ready to have a really great meal.

The restaurant had a strong food smell that diverted our attention from our own food. The muffin type bread was too greasy and the pork chops for two was our biggest disappointment. It was 70% fat, cold and not enough for two people as they claim though the price $50 was. My Malbec was good but the white Portuguese my friends had was not and they changed for another one. A very expensive experience that we don't expect to repeat any time soon!

We were kept waiting for our table because the previous diners were unexpectedly chatty. But, our server Annie and the rest of the staff more than made up for it. They delivered complimentary anniversary mocktails and added a delightful ham/funnel cake surprise with our charcuterie board. Everything was delicious. We had the meatball and polenta; kale and mushroom salad; rabbit pot pie; and butcher's cut steak. For dessert, you must get their fried apple pie! Thank you to The Partisan for a wonderful anniversary dinner.

I knew this before I went that the menu was meat centric, but.... Maybe I missed them but a few more veggie items without any meat in them, or meat style preparations (ie horseradish on the salad) would be nice. Also some bread items would be good. The service was friendly but unprofessional. When they were out of one item they substituted another without checking with us first. It would have been nice to have a choice as the substitute was a hot sausage and would not have been our first choice.

My wife and I stopped by after a movie at E Street Cinema. First time here... great, friendly service, and food was fantastic. We had a selection of 6 meats -- Eva Peron, Campari salami, smoked liverwurst, country pate, saucisson de strasbourg and the culatello. Also ordered the cheese platter. We followed it up with the fig + arugula salad and the beef fat fries (amazing). Again, can't begin to tell you how wonderful the service was... Sit back and enjoy the experience!

Our meal got off to a great start with the charcuterie selection and cocktails. All were superb. Unfortunately, when we moved to the small plates, dishes were overly salty or sweet. Our waiter did a great job pairing our small plates with a wine for my wife and a beer for me, but the food just wasn't up to the same standard as our beginning. This may have been an off night, so we plan to return.

The food is great, the drinks are too small for the price, and the service was poor. After complaining to the manager, our party was given some side dishes on-the-house; but by then the damage had been done. There are several dishes that I still want to try, thus, I will give Partisan a second chance to shine.

After reading all the five-star reviews, I was prepared to be wowed. We had foie gras/truffle bologna (ugh to the bologna), cheese tray (good, small bits of cheese), salami, Kale/mushroom salad (delicious) and carne crudo (pork, grilled eggplant slices &Thai pickles-very good). Fried apple pie (fabulous) and snicker terrine (very good). Our server was complete apathetic. After delivering the water & menus, he disappeared, waited on two other tables and ignored us. I finally grabbed him so we could order drinks. He seemed uninterested &provided almost no assistance & absolutely no sense of humor. When he brought the check, he perked up. Wonder why! Will not return to this restaurant. Too many other great restaurants in the City.

The ambiance was great from the low lighting to the dried saucisson hanging from above. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The wine list was easy to understand and had a good variety. The food menu was uniquely presented. The charcuterie is ordered "sushi style" where you mark off what you want with a golf pencil. The selections ranged from classic to modern. I tried one that was negroni inspired that was quite tasty. The baked cilantro pasta was also very good. Don't skip dessert either. The fernet branca ginger beer float was a digestif and dessert in one!

I went to the Partisan to see some old friends who were in town, because it was connected to the Red Apron Butcher at Union Market (my favorite place there). I was definitely impressed at the range of options available, all served tapas style to share. If they have it, try the sour beer. It may be an acquired taste, but if you can acquire it you'll be better for it. Also, if you have vegetarian friends or those who only eat fish and chicken, there are plenty of ways to assemble a meal from the offerings on the menu. I'll definitely be coming back.

I knew my husband would enjoy Partisan because it's all about the meat. I knew I would because of the portion options, which allow for lots of tasting and mixing and matching. We selected three items from the charcuterie; each had its own wonderful and distinctive flavor just as the menu promised. Hubby can never pass up foie gras and Partisan's stacked up with the best. While his arteries congealed, I had an excellent warm kale salad. Lamb was unavailable but I was encouraged to try the pork ribs, which were not on the menu. They melted in my mouth. We also enjoyed fennel sausage, the house steak and the fried apple pie. The drink and wine list is very well conceived. The only disappointment was a not so great cappuccino.

If you love meat but are tired of the standard steakhouse dining experience, Partisan will deliver a welcome shake-up. The menu brims with unconventional options and reinventions of classic dishes. Everything we had was exceptional, from the excellent cheese slate to my steak with a Latin flair, to our fried--yes, fried--apple pie. But what everyone MUST experience at Partisan, and what truly sets it apart, is their outstanding charcuterie program. The range of flavors they are able to impart to different types of cured meat is nothing short of astonishing. The butchers (jointly associated with Partisan and Red Apron) elevate charcuterie to an artistic plane.

If dried meats are your thing, just check every box on the charcuterie menu and enjoy a terrific gastronomic experience. The rest of the menu is adventurous and well-conceived. The half-portion items should be welcome by the small-portion eaters. And the wine list makes for good browsing, with interesting choices that will complement the food well at a range of price points.

Arrived early and were seated in the bar until dinner service started. Thought about eating there, but a noisy couple seated themselves next to us so we went to the table. I was delighted with the three spicy meats I selected from the menu but disappointed that kielbasa was no longer available. My date thought her lamb pasta was a little dull but liked the other things she selected. We look forward to returning to the Partisan and wish it were open late enough for dinner after shows at the Lansburgh Theater around the corner.

There are lots of choices and because you can order anything from small plates to entrees you have the opportunity to try a variety. You can order pates and meats individually allows you to make your own combinations. Everything we ordered was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the small burger was one of the best burgers we had ever eaten. The staff knows all of the food very well and was very helpful. Red Apron is next door so you can pick things up and take them home for another time.

Went with a friend to celebrate a birthday. Ordered a few small dishes and split the porchetta. The kale and mushroom salad was good and had potential to be great, but it was slightly overdressed and was drawning in the dressing. The various charcuteries were great, as was the homemade bread. Wouldn't recommend the squash blossom as it's so delicate and the way it was served made it taste like tempura. Beef fat fries as good as everyone has said.

The sausages and smoked meats for the charcuterie were quite good, though the board was definitely missing olives and cheeses. It would be nice if they carried gluten-free bread options for those with allergies. The wine list was quite extensive, though the "half-glass" pour is more like a half of a half-glass, so save yourself the disappointment and get a full glass. That said, the Qupe syrah was delicious and the savory notes well paired with the pork and beef options. The cocktails were too pricy for justifying a taste.

This is probably our 5th or 6th time at the Partisan. If you haven't been, don't hurry, RUN to get a table at Partisan. I'll challenge you to find better charcuterie on the East Coast - and that includes Manhattan. The theme of the food is "simple" dishes taken to incredibly high levels. The meat dishes in particular are out-of-this-world. All of this would make for a great experience, if it weren't for the wine list. Sommelier, Wunderkind Brent Kroll, turns this into an absolutely outstanding experience. You must try their version of the summer of Riesling. There's no restaurant we have ever been to - and we've been to a LOT of them - where you'll find a more amazing high-end selection; and by the glass no less. Incredible!!!!!
