We've dined here for years. It's a
nice balance of English Pub and up-scale. A great bar if you just want drinks. It is kid friendly, but I wouldn't recommend it as kid friendly. If you're kids aren't picky eaters and they are well behaved, then fine. But if they need a bit more stimulation, go elsewhere (for everybody's benefit). The food is excellent, but priced a little on the high side compared to other good restaurants that are close by. Also the new menu is rather limited. I'm never disappointed when I eat here, but with the wide variety of choice that we have in Stratford, the Parlour isn't always my first choice."

My husband had the prime rid and I
had the strip loin, I found both fairly bland. The presentation and vegetables were well done but I needed quite a bit of salt and pepper to enjoy the meat."

The service was excellent. The
food was amazing, well presented, plenty of it. Even though it was busy, we were never rushed. Will definitely be back and will recommend this restaurant to others."

the Parlour is always at the top
of our list, excellent food and staff every time."

I took me and my girlfriend here
for her birthday. They were absolutely splendid. The food was great, the atmosphere was beautiful, place was quiet and they even gave use a free pavlova for my girlfriends birthday. I strongly recommend The Parlour for any occasion."

The Parlour was one of two
restaurants in Stratford who used Open Table. The menu looked great, and I do love me some dining points. The meal was good, but the pavolva dessert was definitely the stand-out. Split with a friend! It's a bit pricey for pub food, but it's on par with inflated Stratford prices. It's also a quick walk to the Avon Theatre (where we saw a show), and the service was great so there was never any worry of us being late for our show!"

The atmosphere is pleasant, quiet
and has character, given the historic feel to the building. The server was helpful, made suggestions and willing to engage in a conversation to answer questions. The spinach salad with goat cheese and granola was excellent. Flank steak, salmon and prime rib were all excellent quality and presentation was appealing. Too full for dessert, but specaility coffee was a nice ending to a wonderful dining experience before theatre."

The Parlour continues to be one of
the best restaruants in Stratford."

We visit Stratford restaurants
before attending a show. After driving in from the GTA, we want to relax in a quiet place, enjoy good food and drink, and be pampered. The Parlour has a nice enough ambiance, and our waitress was absolutely wonderful ... but the food is nothing to write home about. The appetizers (escargots & house flatbread) were WAY too greasy. My roast beef (seemed safest in an English-themed locale) was quite good. My wife couldn't finish her burger, saying it was like shoe leather - no juiciness at all - our dog liked it! Also, I had asked in advance for a "nice quiet nook" ... they put is in an aisle surrounded by tables of six to eight. Still, the noise level was not bad at all, but the mood factor was a zero:-)"

Wait staff was friendly and
knowledgeable. Menu choice could have been a little bigger, Food came in a reasonable time. Everyone enjoyed their food selection. I had the Vietnamese stir fry and was very happy with my choice."

The Palour has been a favourite
dining spot for several years, initially with my young daughter on our yearly treks to Stratford and more recently with the ladies for our annual weekend in Stratford. There is always great food, very attentive service, an interesting menu, and a lovely atmosphere. I have never been disappointed. Plus, the hotel rooms upstairs are convenient, spacious, clean, and well appointed. We will be back again next year!"

The reviews for this restaurant
were good so we decided to book for dinner before a show. The service was very good. Our waitress was friendly and made an effort to accommodate my food allergies. The starter salad was fresh and enormous! The duck curry was tasty but needed more duck and less gnocchi. My dinner of chow mein noodles, stirfry vegetables and chicken was awful. There was a pile of unappetizing noodles, a few dry pieces of chicken and very few vegetables. I hardly ate any of it. The waitress did not inquire why I did not eat my meal. I did not volunteer any information because we had to go to a show. I would not return to this restaurant as there is not enough incentive to give them another chance."

From the warm welcome at the door
to the final processing of the check, service was impeccable. Many restaurants could take lessons from this one! The food was a bit more variable. The Caesar salad was generous with a house-made dressing and warm bacon lardons that really added flavour. The short menu has some intriguing choices on it, but I opted for a special, a prime rib. Although I asked for rare, this arrived much closer to medium. It was tender enough that I didn't complain, but still was not as ordered. Carrots, mashed potatoes, and gravy were plentiful but bland. A crusty Yorkshire pudding, and freshly shredded horseradish were better. More of a rib-sticker than a gourmet meal, but definite gourmet prices for food and wine."

We have had dinner here the last
few years we have gone to the Stratford festival. The first time we stayed at the a hotel, which is also very nice. This time we came back even though we were staying elsewhere, and had a leisurely meal, as we did not have tickets that night for a play."

turn of the 20 th century parlor"

One of the first requirements of
our group when we go to a theatre at Stratford is gluten-free food for one our members. There was an awareness of this requirement, they put us at ease that they could provide it and the G-F food was delicious. The waitress was fun to deal with. The other staff who served us got into the act and created a great ambience. There was variety in the selection and it was cooked to our requests. The Pavlova is do die for - one of the best desserts in Ontario."

We celebrated our 34th anniversary
with Fiddler on the Roof & dinner at the Parlour. The table was private, relaxing and romantic. The wine, appetizer, entre selection & desert were very flavourful and delicious. There was a small disappointment. I ordered Prime Rib based on the description by the server. The Prime Rib was excellent but there was no Yorkshire Pudding that accompanied the meal. The server indicated, only as she placed my choice in front of me, that the restaurant had run out of Yorkshire Pudding. In my opinion, a kinder restaurant etiquette might suggest that the patron be informed about this at the time of the order or at least provided with the courtesy of possibly offering to pay for the desert that we split."

We were surprised at the limited
menu items and even more surprised that the one item I wanted wasn't available and from what the server told us, wasn't available the day prior either. With such a limited menu to begin with, that was a disappointment. The server didn't tell us the prices of the 'specials' which I think she should have done. The soup of the day was very good. I had the smoked salmon pizza appetizer - good but way too salty. My husband had the butter chicken poutine which he said was good, not great. Our friend had the fish & chips which she said was 'ok'. Nothing was outstanding. My husband had a couple draft beer and my friend and I had coffee. The bill, with tip, was about $100 which I thought too much for lunch."

Enjoyed our dining experience and
being my wife's birthday she was given a delicious dessert that was totally unexpected and very generous. We really appreciated this gesture."

Food was excellent. The dessert
was fabulous, this restaurant has the best Pavlova I have ever tasted. Great portion size. I would definitely come back again."

Our group of 4 enjoyed a very nice
lunch with great service and good food- as 2 members of our group remarked- if we hadnt reserved we would have left as the ambience reminded them of an old fashioned bar - the food however- is surprisingly good. The desserts are excellent. The soup too.Falafel burgers- who knew?- very tasty and enjoyed. The noodle dish- well spiced and again enjoyed. We would return and we would recommend!"

The ambiance and staffing are
great and to top it off the food is very good as well. Great local wine list."

We have been coming to this
restaurant for three consecutive years in the context of a theater evening and were amazed at how much busier it has become.....from a few tables three years ago to now fully booked. And that may be part of the problem. Catering to the theater crowd, it is imperative to get diners out on time, but hopefully not at the expense of service....and we did experience some lapses. We were seated without menus and had to wait quite a while until they arrived, Worst offense though, was the service of appetizer and main courses simultaneously, with a rather insincere apology, Although the food was the best of all three years' experience, the service rendered the meal an "eating" event as opposed to a "dining" event."

Our party of 6 had a very
enjoyable evening. Waiter was very pleasant and helpful with questions about the menu. Food was great."

We will not be going back. Neither
of us enjoyed our meals. I was expecting higher quality for the price we paid."

great food, service & ambiance.
Wonderful. Will definitely go back."

The online reviews were right --
this is a surprisingly good restaurant for a hotel chain like BW. Our party of four arrived from Toronto an hour late for our lunch reservation (horrendous 401 traffic jam) but the staff took our phone calls and assured us there would be no problem. It's a large room with plenty of tables and was not busy at 1 pm on an August Thursday. Service was professional, portions large. Reuben sandwich on fresh marbled rye had thick slices of corned beef; falafel burger was pronounced delicious; club sandwich was excellent -- filling in a single layer within a very fresh lightly toasted ciabatta. Spinach salad on the side came with orange slices, toasted almonds, and greek olive & fennel slices."
Dined on 8/15/2013
Great place to eat before the
play. Not a large menu, but enough choice for us. Food was very good as was the service. Nice ambiance and reasonable prices. We have been twice now and will go back again!"
Dined on 8/3/2013
Every year we visit the Parlour at
least once. It seems that their menu changes quite often. As usual, the service was good. Lindsay, our server, was new but very friendly and professional. My husband ordered the Thai brick chicken - it had a very nice flavour. I had the red curry braised duck - very delicious. We shared the Mediterranean-inspired salad (also tasty) for appetizer and the pavlova (very light and fluffy as we remembered, best to share with two people) for dessert. Although we were satisfied with the taste and quality of our meal, we do miss some of the old British style menu items."

The Parlour was a very enjoyable
experience..........awesome flatbread, great tilapia, perfect service. Thanks!"
Dined on 8/4/2013
It was our first time at the
Parlour nand the food was just so so. I really was not pleased with our meals. I had asked in advance if the Tilapia or the Chicken with jicama slaw was spicy as was told no by the server. So we orderd those and woudn up not eating either (we were two couples, so the two men eat the ladies spicy meals). I really would not recommend or go back."
Dined on 7/25/2013
the service was outstanding and
the food and wine selection was fabuloys."
Dined on 7/27/2013
It was recommended or we would
never gone in as it is part of Best Weatern. Had a great dinner before theatre. Waitress very attentive and friendly Great choice of food and prepared for foodies. Returned after theatre For drink and found lively bar scene. Definitely would return."
Dined on 7/19/2013
Food was really delicious - we
ordered the hamburger and chicken club - the avocado mayo had a nice subtle hint of the avocado which went realyl well with the breads served with our meal. Unfortunately we had to be moved due to a larger party that needed our seating - everything turned out well in the end and we enjoyed our Pavlova (?) dessert which had a delcious raspberry compote to accomany the light meringue dish. Overall a good experience!"
Dined on 7/21/2013
We always enjoy the food here.
Everything is prepared so well. Their reuben sandwich is the best we've ever had. They are also often the only restaurant other than Tim Hortons open late night on weekdays in Stratford. We had dessert after a play and finally had their famous pavolova - it's a mile high, so tender, just the right sweetness and served with a sweet and tart fruit sauces on each side, lemon and raspberry. The only thing that keeps me from giving this restaurant and hotel an outstanding rating is the dreary colors. I have been told it's because of the strict heritage building requirements, but the colors put me on edge. Their location as a hotel can't be beat so that wins out but the great food deserves better décor."
Dined on 7/16/2013
We always enjoy our meal at The
Parlour. I would not say it is high end dining but the food is invariably well prepared and tasty. It is, you might say, upper middle class as opposed to high class. The atmosphere is relaxed in-spite of the fairly ornate look of the room. The service is always very good and the wait staff friendly and attentive. We have tried a range of dishes although my wife always chooses a fish option. We have never been disappointed. And we invariably finish the meal by sharing one of the superb pavlovas; which is invariably perfectly done."

WE BOOKED THE PARLOUR FOR OUR
DINING EXPERIENCE AT 6 P.M. (4 COUPLES) AFTER SEEING FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. OUR TABLE WAS READY AND THE SERVICE WAS GOOD. AT FIRST THE WAITER SEEMED A LITTLE BRASH, BUT HE WARMED UP AS THE MEAL WENT ON . . . FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND EVERYONE SEEMED PLEASE WITH THEIR SELECTION FROM FISH TO BEEF. PRESENTATION WAS VERY GOOD!"
