Diner Reviews
  • "The food was terrible. Calamari was so soggy that the batter fell off not to mention, incredibly bland. The food doesn't taste fresh and most had no flavor. Wait for the food was long and the restaurant wasn't busy. Shane was an excellent server though, attentive and personable. That was the only positive point of our experience. Full of front door staff but not a thank you or goodbye on the way out."

  • "I had heard mixed reviews about this restaurant but wanted to make up my out mind. Sorry to say but I was disappointed on most aspects of this restaurant. Our server was obviously inexperienced as although she know my partner and I were sharing a salad and a pizza she did not bring us plates serve ourselves. There were not napkins on our table. ou antipasta plate came without olives and when we aked our waitress about this she at first said she did not think that olives were included despite that they were on the discription on the menu. We had to ask her twice to bring us some olives. When she did they were unedible. The pizza was soggy in the middle. We didn't finish it. The salad was ok but too much dressing. The tiramisu was a miss."

  • "The appetizer I had (the calamari) was outstanding. For my main dish, I tried one of their pasta dishes (rigatoni). It was alright ( a little salty). If I go back, I'll try the pizza to see if it's better than the pasta. Our server was friendly and helpful."

  • "I love the parlour. I've gone there a handful of times with friends and everyone loves it as much as I do. They rave about the food and the atmosphere. It's truly one of a kind. It's great for a casual lunch or a romantic dinner."

  • "Second time attending the establishment. Again good food and service awesome. There was a bigger group of us and service and food was spot on. Will be returning soon."

  • "This was my first time at this restaurant which is part of the Century Hospitality Group. It is in a renovated warehouse building just south of Grant McEwan University. The interior is very nicely done. This restaurant might be a little upscale for the student crowd, but the food was very good. Their Neapolitan style pizza was delicious and their wine / beer selection was good. The service was competent and pleasant. It was a very quiet day there so it is hard to tell what the noise level would be like on a busy day, but overall this was a very good experience."

  • "This is the second attempt at going to the Parlour. We had terrible service the first time around and I thought it was merely because they were just opening and everything was new. The second time around - I think that the Century Group should focus on training their staff to know about the ingredients and food they are serving as they are catering to a crowd who knows their stuff. Otherwise, the food was okay - the carpaccio isn't that great. Pizza crust is really nice on the pizzas. I'd go back for Pizza."

  • "We're big fans of Century Hospitality and believe they are top-tier restaurants amongst each ones targeted niche. Parlour fits in perfectly. I see reviews on here that just don't seem to make any sense. This is a moderate priced restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere and good food. Maybe their palettes are used to low-end greasy food, or they favour generic chains, or they expect food on par with a restaurant that's 5 times the price - I don't know. What I do know is you can go to any Century restaurant and get great food and substantially better service and atmosphere for the same price you would pay at a chain restaurant. Century will continue to pump out good restaurants, and I'll continue to be a customer. Can't wait for Hart's!"

  • "We were seated up over looking down at the bar and ground floor. As the evening wore on it got very very noisey. Just besides us 3 or 4 tables were put together and a very large group came in and basically took over. I know it's not the restaurant's fault, but it sure changed the atmosphere halfway through our meal! Very hard to carry on a conversation. Service was very good, food was very good and lots of variety. Nice bathroom too!"

  • "Great job on the design of the restaurant and the ambience. Just wish the food and service was a little better. Food was over-priced and a little bland. Service got everything right, but wasn't a fan of the overall experience."

  • "We were in Edmonton for a soccer tournament and wanted to get away from 'in hotel' food for young hungry players. This was a great quiet location for a relaxing lunch with wine and good food and service."

  • "I was super excited for dinner at The Parlour. Everything about it screamed great food. Except the food. The appetizer was good. We had mussels and an antipasto board. However, the Family Jewels Pizza was soggy and bland. Everyone else loved their food and one was especially happy with the gluten free option. The service was excellent."

  • "I met my friend here for lunch and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Our waitress was very friendly and personable, made conversation but wasn't overbearing. We had the Gamberi pizza, and although I was disappointed there were only 6 shrimp on it (1 per piece which was sparse) the pizza was delicious. I will definitely go back, but maybe I'll make my own pizza next time."

  • "The appetizers were wonderful. We loved the mussels and cauliflower. The calamari were very small and a bit too dry. The building is very hip and cool. We are looking forward to dining on the patio this summer."

  • "The parlour has a unique atmosphere, the food was very good. Service was excellent Shane was very friendly and encouraged us to play a trick on the manager, by saying that Shane was a terrible server. We did it and it was a good laugh. Wine on tap was a neat idea. The clientele is young professional so as a 50 ish couple probably won't return. But it was a good experience."

  • "Casual weeknight dinner. Shared the cauliflower fritto (amazing) & the arancini(dry until the last one which was amazing) Followed by fungi pizza (too much cheese) & lasagna ( a great twist on the traditional). I say not great yet because the service was exceptional. The manager and waitress stopped by frequently to check in without bring bothersome and very openly took our feedback. They are new and working out a few things still I think. We will go back."

  • "Our server was nice but clearly not on top of his game. Ordered a few drinks and 2 apps for a table of 5- Calamari and the Mussels. Apps arrived carried by a different food runner and we quickly noticed they had sent out the Cauliflower Fritto instead of the Calamari- No big deal, we alerted the runner and he noted that this would taste even better "free" while waiting for the calamari- Perfect response and the Calamari came out quickly. From there it was a bunch of small things with our waiter- He missed cutlery, 3-4 drink refills, and never followed up on apps or the actual mains. When I alerted him that we hadn't ordered the fritto and it was on our bill his response was "yeah but you ate it". Not a good way to end the meal at all."

  • "1) carpaccio- good 2) calamari- soggy and under seasoned 3) arancini- under seasoned and rissoto overdone 4) margarita pizza- soggy crust, tomato sauce was bland Would go back for a drink in a nice space...or drink on the patio in the summer but defiantly not for the meal. For good pizza in Edmonton: Leva, Rosso"

  • "Nice location, very nice inside. 2 of our party chose the Malbec from the 'tap' and they were out. Spinach salad was supposed to have blueberries (counted 12) and the salad was salted with rock salt?? 20 layer lasagna noodles were very crisp and burnt on the edges - very dry. Service was atrocious - waiter was all talk and no action. Reminded him several times for various items, and slow to no response."

  • "This restaurant was one of the best restaurants we have been to for casual dinning. The food, drinks and service was perfect. The waiter introduced him self and asked for our names and called us by them the whole night. He made great recommendations which we loved. The price point was incredible. We ordered a bottle of wine, 2 beers, 2 appetizers and 2 dishes the bill came to $140 which was just fine with us as everything we ate was delicious, so much taste and flavoring cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was warm and cosy, you could dress up or be casual. We loved the wood burning fire place outside burning when we walked up, can't wait to enjoy their patio in the summer. Anyone wanting to try this restaurant will not be disappointed."

  • "We had the salad and a Pizza Both were very good. I was there more for the company than the food, so I would say a great addition to the Centry Group's stable of restaurants, but there is a lot of competition out there that may prove thier undoing. Corso 32 on the high end and Famoso on the budget"

  • "Have eaten here twice at lunch now. Great food, great service. Fantastic for lunch. I think would be the same for dinner. Fun vibe without being overwhelming. Looking forward to patio opening in Spring. Excellent to have another restaurant choice in West downtown."

  • "The food at Parlour was very good. We had the mussels and one of their pizzas. Our server, however, was awful. We were there for a supper on Feb 13th. It took him 10 minutes to even come to the table to ask for our drink order. Once he finally did come, he barely checked on us all night and when he would come by, he kept mentioning how busy he was and how all the other tables had so many people. If you are too busy, pass us along to another server. I can't remember his name (starts with a J I believe) - he worked upstairs and had glasses. He was awkward to say the least and could have cared less what we thought of our meals or how we were doing. He was more concerned with how busy he was and didn't seem to want to get anyone to help."

  • "Started with appetzers .. meaballs and cauliflower fritto ... both delicious and great for sharing with 4 people. Followed with two pizzas .. Hawaii 5-0 and the one with eggplant and olives ... I love this Italian style of pizza with thin crust and great spices - it took me back to my last trip to Tuscany. Shared desserts of lemon tart and chocolate torte... fresh and delicious. Our server was awesome .... I didn't catch her name ... (tall, very short hair, lots of tatoos) ... she was fabulous. Friendly, helpful, offered suggestions (when asked), didn't rush us, but was always available, when we needed her. Make sure that you keep her."

  • "Loved the cauliflower appetizer. Would have like the calamari to be a little more crispy but still enjoyed the dish. The Hawaii 5-0 pizza was fantastic however the crust was a little burned on one spot. Our waiter Shane was fantastic. He was friendly and courteous. Everything you want in a waiter. I would definitely come back."

  • "It is more casual than we expected so we overdressed a bit. The wine list is nice. Love the bar area and pizza oven. It was lovely walking up to the door with the fireplace burning outside. A little pricey for the entrees. The building itself is very trendy and interesting. Some tables are over lit, and some under lit in the upstairs area. We will go back."

  • "Fantastic decor. The timing of the delivery of food was perfect. Our server was helpful with many recommendations of her favourite foods. She came back to check on us regularly - but not too much to be bothersome. Definitely will go back again."

  • "The atmosphere is very cozy, love the brick walls. Really good wine selection, chose a Brunello di Montalcino that was fabulous. We shared a caesar salad and mussels, both were quiet good. Also shared a pizza- wise guy- and it was ok, just lacked a bit of flavour and seasoning. The service was great so we will go again and give the food another chance."

  • "Our waiter was great! Full of life, fun and wealth of knowledge regarding menu and wines that was greatly appreciated. Having utilizing this location for years as a hair salon I think they did a fantastic job of remodeling and making this an excellent dining experience - thank you for another gem of the rejuvenation of Downtown Edmonton :) Erin"

  • "My husband and I enjoyed our date here last week. We dined early so it wasn't busy at the time which is why we were a bit puzzled regarding the slightly slow service. Our waiter was friendly and great for recommendations, however, seemed a bit distracted. When we had to remind him to bring us a coffee, for example, he made excuses instead of offering an apology. This wouldn't keep us from dining here again, though. My husband had sea bass and I had the twenty layer lasagna. Both excellent! Loved the decor and the vibe."
