The Palm CourtWonderful as AlwaysThe Palm Court at the Drake was the perfect setting for an early Mother's Day brunch. Always classy, filled with harp music and (mostly) quiet conversation, paired with high tea.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Afternoon Tea ExperienceI keep coming back to The Drake for tea. The food was good & plentiful, the tea was great & our waitress Christine was phenomenal. We love the fountain & live harpist. Our party of 5 loved it. The only negative thing is (only one) is that the building needs to be updated to accommodate handicapped people. We had one person in our party that was in a wheel chair & she was told at the entrance that she had to wait to get escorted to The Palm Court by security. Half our party was already seated and she waited by the front door for 20 minutes to be escorted because she couldn't get up the stairs. I called prior to our outing and was told The Palm Court was handicap accessible. They really need to fix that. Other than that, we had a great time.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial afternoon with my wifeWe stayed at the Drake to spend the weekend in Chicago for my wife's birthday. I decided to book a reservation for teat at the last minute. What a treat. Looking forward to taking our daughters along next time.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to tea at otherI have been to tea at other hotels in the Chicago area. The Palm surpassed all the others. It was quiet, wonderful surroundings and the service was exceptional. I can't wait to return.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a lovely way to spendWhat a lovely way to spend a Sunday! Tea at the Palm Court is the ultimate girls get together. Our group of 5 had a wonderful experience. My 7 year old daughter was in awe. We will definitely do this again.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Palm Court in the DrakeThe Palm Court in the Drake Hotel is a lovely setting for afternoon tea. The food and the service were both top notch. My one complaint is the music. I had expected lovely harp music however I guess this has now become the destination for birthdays. Every 20 minutes or so a cupcake with a candle was brought to a table and the harpist played Happy Birthday. I felt like I was at Chuckie Cheese. For this reason only I would go elsewhere for afternoon tea in the future.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was not my first timeThis was not my first time at the High Tea. I have been 3 other times but that was a treat from 2 daughters. So I paid the bill and that was a shock considering the tea and food. Yes, we were full but a lot was cups and cups of tea. My daughters were going to take me again for Mothers Day but i told them to cancel because of the price. We are going to a nice restaurant for a FULL DINNER AND I DOUBT IT WILL COST THEM AS MUCH. We don't order liquor or wine which keeps the cost down.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAfternoon tea perfect enoughAfternoon tea perfect enough for a princess! Our server was a delight, and it was wonderful to see everyone out in their finery, enjoying this wonderful tradition and using their manners! Shaun seated us and took us on a tour after our tea and it was a wonderful and special way to end our time in Chicago. Our waiter was fantastic, attentive without being overbearing. Good food, and Hot Tea as wel as a cocktail!! Can't wait to visit Chicago again.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI had an amazing time withI had an amazing time with my niece during our visit. She's four years old and was very excited about having a "grown-up" tea party. The staff was amazing and we were allowed to sit right near the fountain and the harpist (who was absolutely fabulous!). My niece is still telling everyone about her tea at The Drake and it will be an experience she'll remember forever.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but not greatWe are familiar with the tradition of Afternoon Tea and have enjoyed it numerous times, most often in Toronto. The Palm Court ambience and service did not disappoint; we had a lovely table right beside the fountain. As vegetarians, we advised ahead of time and were accommodated. There were two things that disappointed: All of our sandwiches were served on plain white bread--no variety or creativity; other patrons had a variety and we wondered why the same standard isn't applied to all guests? Second, while there was a variety of desserts, there was one scone and two slices of banana bread per person. Why double-up on banana bread? It was good, but not noteworthy. Something else, even a different loaf--carrot or chocolate, would be better.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHad an amazing time at TheHad an amazing time at The Drake. I highly recommend it. Tea time and small bites for $38 a person. Plus they have cocktails too. Can't wait to go back next year for the holidays!11/17/2012 12:00:00 AM
