  • "A lovely setting for a brunch! Had a very nice time and the food was great. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Will come back again."

  • "Overall disappointment in the quality of the food when compared to other High Tea experiences we have enjoyed. We ordered two types of offerings:the Fitsgerald and another choice (cannot remember the name). Tea selections were few and not loose leaf. We expected fine english china reminiscent of English High Tea. Not the case. Plain white dishes although probably of good quality replaced the patterned tea sets we have come to expect at High Tea. Scones were dry and crumbly. Sandwiches good. Desert selections were not sufficiently varied. Insufficient fruit. Will try another High tea experience at another Hotel when next in NY. Perhaps our expectations were too high: this being The Plaza Hotel."

  • "My daughter and I love going to NYC for our mother/daughter trip. Of course we have to include brunch at The Plaza. It was, as always, a very special experience and the food was delicious."

  • "We were received by a cocky hostess that has examined our clothes up to down, thanks God we were absolutely well dressed, otherwise the next table was a group of runners, in running clothes. Waiters absolutely lost, delaying service over the limit. Food, absolutely a trash, and cold. What is happening with The Plaza?"

  • "It has "old time" charm, but at the same time, the hotel needs renovation urgently."

  • "A really big disappointment - and embarrassed that I suggested meeting a friend there for tea. Very old school and predictable. Lots of mom/daughters going out to celebrate little girls birthdays. I assumed it would be more upscale and cater to a gourmet crowd - but that is NOT the case. The space is architecturally nice, but bland and lifeless. It feels like sitting under fluorescent skylights... terrible. The food was pretty bad except for the "one-bite" egg salad canape. The roast beef was so bloody - it made the bread soggy - yuck! Scones were dry. Service was really dull and non-existant at times. Made us feel like we were really inconveniencing them... Don't waste any time or money on this place. Do more research."

  • "Server seemed less than happy to be there waiting on our table. Hurried us along at the end of our dining experience. We seemed to get more attention from the bus boy."

  • "Reservation through Open Table was made at least one week in advance. We were placed right beside a large party attending a bridal shower. When a table nearby but not as close to the group became free, we asked if we could be moved. We were informed that the available table was already reserved and that we could not be moved. The staff recognized our displeasure and sent over the manager who was very accomodating and did find another table for us away from the bridal shower noise. At this point we were made very comfortable and provided a second pot of tea. This was my third time for tea at the Plaza (one of those times I was staying at the Plaza) and at no other time was I made to feel like a second class citizen."

  • "Abiance is very special. If you are bringng your children, they accomodate them nicely with cute menues. It is a chance for them to get a bit dressed up and feel special with the lovely ambiance. Note that the $16 mac and cheese is really probably kraft - not a big culinary experience, more about the setting. Fun to visit for a speical occassion."

  • "Great experience, definitely recommend having High Tea"

  • "We made our reservation well in advance for the Palm Court as part of a recent visit to NYC. The High Tea was our destination for the first afternoon before an orchestral concert at Lincoln Center. It was a truly lovely, genteel experience to rest and refresh, chat and nibble delectables while sipping tea in a light, airy atrium at the Plaza Hotel! With a complimentary toast of champagne, our sweets and savories were served on glimmering sterling with white gloves in a chandelier-twinkling room; We were filled with so much appreciation. Our charming and knowledgable waitor explained carefully the many tea choices, and how warm and fuzzy the excellent service and peppermint tea made us feel on our wedding anniversary!"

  • "My mom, my sister, my niece and I had a wonderful experience at the Palm Court for afternoon tea. The tea sandwiches, the pastries and chocolates are little works of art and every bite was a marvel. The tea was to die for. The deep flowery aroma of the Madame Butterfly was transporting. No small part of the pleasure of the afternoon was our waiter -- tall and elegant, knowledgable and charming, with an indeterminate European accent that was right out of a 1930s film. The room itself is lovely, very turn of the OLD century. We had a great time and will definitely go again. It’s expensive though so be prepared. But it’s an experience you won’t soon forget."

  • "Afternoon Tea in the Plaza's Palm Court was a worthwhile splurge while in NY. One important tip: ask for a seat away from the outside. We had a constant stream of tourists walking past and staring at the food on our outside table. With one being so gauch as to take a picture of our daughter's Eloise Tea Tower, with us sitting right there."

  • "I came here with a friend for afternoon tea. Very disappointing. My friend asked for vegetarian sandwiches- they came out with meat, and when we pointed it out to the waiter, he seemed put off. We also asked for our own portions of jam/lemon curd/cream (which is how I'm accustomed to being served at afternoon tea). Now the waiter seemed extremely put off, and reluctantly brought us an extra bowl of ONE of the spreads. Worst of all, we notified the hostess that we were stepping out for a cigarette, and the waiter came running after us, down the hallway!! I'll never come here for tea again. Oh yeah, this hotel is a tourist trap, so people walk around everywhere, gawking, and taking pictures."

  • "Save your money!! The Palm Court is not worth it and there are lots of other beautiful places to have afternoon tea. We booked well in advance but despite there being many empty tables that remained unused,we were shown to a table at the back of the room, next to the kitchen. We had taken the trouble to dress up but most other diners were in very casual attire (t-shirts). We had to call the server's attention to place our order even though the restaurant was nearly empty. The order was incorrect and one member of our party had to wait 30 mins for the correct afternoon tea to arrive. The server spilt everthing he poured. It was terrible service for a 5-star establishment."

  • "My family and I enjoyed high tea at the Palm Court. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to request a song to be played by the pianist. We would definitely eat there again if we're able to do so."

  • "Visited the Palm room for afternoon tea. Brought my wife as well as my English born mom who I knew would be a tough critic.....we loved it. Everything about the experience was top notch. I would highly recommend high-tea at the Plaza for any special occasion and for those who are searching to remember the by-gone days of such charming rituals."

  • "Lovely & elegant afternoon tea. Very expensive so perhaps limit to special occasions."

  • "We had a great time here for afternoon tea, but service was a bit bad...for example we ordered an expensive bottle of champagne and the server didn't know how to pour it so alot got wasted on the tablecloth!"

  • "We came for afternoon tea and were impressed with the service and ambiance. We ordered from a prix fixe list of afternoon tea combinations that included scones, pastries, tea sandwiches, tea (of course), and champagne. Price was acceptable and the service was very prim and proper. The amount of food brought to you on sharing trays was adequate for an afternoon snack or a late lunch. The tea was delicious as was the champagne. There was also a lounge pianist playing in the background while you enjoyed your snacks, tea, and company."

  • "Wasn't bad. We had brunch there because we stayed there the night before. The atmosphere is nice but nothing special. The food was good, but nothing that stood out. The prices were high, but you expect that- it's the Plaza. I would say overall good but there are sooo many brunch places in the city... I wouldn't go out of my way to go here."

  • "This was the fifth time I have been here in about 2 years. We had afternoon tea and the menu just isn't that exciting. They don't offer a vegetarian option - it was basically just several egg sandwiches and a cheese crostini. And horror of horror... they only had plain scones with no fruit in them! After quite a long wait, the waiter did manage to rustle up a couple of fruit scones, but it felt like a bit too much hard work. I used to take my out-of-town guests here, but have now changed to the Peninsular - far more care taken there as they have to work a bit harder for tourists."

  • "The food, ambiance, and general experience was delightful, however our waiter almost seemed to be purposely avoiding us. I'm not sure if it was due to my age or appearance, but even attempting to make eye contact with him proved almost impossible. Aside from that small complaint, our experience was very pleasing indeed."

  • "Tea at the Plaza is one of the ultimate delights in New York City. We had tea as a late lunch during our January visit. Anyone interested in a classic high tea experience should definitely not miss going there. The afternoon Palm Court high tea menu includes, among other things, two different selections of tea sandwiches, cakes, petit pastries and chocolates and multiple choices of tea with which to wash them down. Champagne and wines are also available. The portions are ample, varied and all tastefully prepared. My particular favorites were the cucumber sandwiches and a piquant lemon tart. The service is propper and supremely professional (as one would expect), but not stuffy and distant (as service at such establishments frequently is)."

  • "Went for tea. Expensive, as you would expect. Can't say that it was worth it, but if you like scones and clotted cream, this is one of the few places that you can get the real deal. Service could have been a lot more attentive."

  • "We went for the afternoon tea. It was fun, but the bread on the sandwiches were a bit hard ... possibly because we had reservations for the end of the day sitting. The wait staff was very attentive."

  • "My husband & I had Christmas Eve brunch at the Palm Court. We enjoyed it very much. The service was good, which is not always the case with historic venues. They are taking care to maintain a beautiful venue with a good standard of service. We recommend it for couples & families."

  • "You pay way too much for very little food, and the food wasn't good at all. The tea was amazing but for the amount of food you get AND the quality, the prices just weren't worth it."

  • "very disappointed is this afternoon tea service. Not like the old palm court. no music playing, bad service and for high tea surprised it was already brewed."
