  • "A wonderful place to take someone for a special birthday treat. The staff were attentive and the afternoon tea was just stunning."

  • "I and my friend made a reservation for The Plaza to have breakfast in a fancy atmosphere. Breakfast buffet ($37) was excellent with fresh berries and fruit etc. Great pastries and freshly squeezed orange juice, too!"

  • "as the great, young resident would say. Just the most perfect place to sit, enjoy and absorb the elegant but not stuffy atmosphere."

  • "We took the kids for afternoon tea and it was amazing. The food was fantastic (and plentiful!) and the service was impeccable. My daughter and I had the Eloise tea which was total perfection. The only complaint that I have is that when we had to go to the bathroom, they were out of toilet paper in one stall and the state of the bathroom was fairly appalling for such a posh place. When you spend $250 on tea, you expect to see a bathroom that looks better than the ones at the mall."

  • "The Plaza was a favorite of mine. Several issues at my recent experience; a bus-person reached over the table to pour water, hardly what you would expect in a place with the Plaza's long history of first class, the waiter was good but, in-attentive, he actually disappeared for most of the meal, and then there were hordes of tourists gauging at you, a few more palms are needed around the perimeter. As for the food it was excellent, now fix the service and atmosphere and you would have a first class Palm Court again."

  • "I enjoyed breakfast this past Sunday morning at this exquisite and classy establishment. It represented my first visit here and I long to return. The cappuccino was brewed to perfection, and the Belgian waffle was incredibly tasty and satisfying. It was accompanied by an assortment of toppings on the side for you to assemble your waffle as you desired. The maple syrup was direct from Vermont, if I recall correctly. Service was wonderful despite a busy morning. You really do feel like royalty. Or at least there's the sense of being in one of those classic films. A+++"

  • "Very unhappy as they overcharged my credit card more than what I signed off for. They have said it is normal for them to add 15-18 per cent on top of tip I have already included for service charge. Still waiting for my refund but very unhappy any business would do this without customer approval!!!!"

  • "Great food, great atmosphere. Perfect place for Sunday brunch."

  • "The entire experience had the possibility of being a delightful lunch experience, however, half way through the buffet two of my fellow diners were told they were going to start clearing the buffet and neither of them were able to partake of the sweets and desserts on the dessert cart, which was also cleared. As a result that had to pay for an extra dessert each. Not very appropriate for such a renowned establishment."

  • "My mum and I had lunch at the Plaza. We had a few delicious cocktails in the champagne bar before moving to the Palm Court for a lovely two course lunch. My mum had the steak and I had the bolognese pasta. Both meals were amazing and we would definitely recommend it."

  • "Hostesses were rude, waiter was only slightly better. Despite having reservations, and seeing open tables, we still had to wait to be seated. However, the food was yummy and we had a good time."

  • "My daughter lives in NYC and having high tea after class on her 21st bday could not have been any more special, unless Beyonce and JayZ came to sing Happy Birthday. But really - they didn't need to, because I put a note on Open Table that it was her birthday- I was completely unaware if that meant anything to them. And it didn't matter. But iwthout any acklnowledgement to me, immediately following our delightful nosh attack, the adorable older men waiters came and belted out a birthday tune for her. So sweet. I loved it. She loved it."

  • "Brought my mom here for a fancy lunch over the weekend but was very disappointed by the service. The only employee that I would praise was the hostess. I was aware that it would be pricey but unfortunately the service didn't equal the ambiance. The only time we saw our server was when we ordered. After eating my mom tried asking 2 different people for a cup of coffee which was never brought. When we were ready to leave I had to ask the hostess to find our server. I will not be back, but if you dine here I hope that your experience is better. To top it off I called to speak to a manager and they couldn't produce one."

  • "We loved everything about Tea time at the Plaza hotel. The service was outstanding! Our waiter, whose name escapes me, was very friendly and accommodating. I can't wait to go back to The Palm Court the next time I am in New York City."

  • "Went for the afternoon tea at the Plaza. The .Ambience was great . Lovely hostess greeted us and sat us down at a great table. That's the good part. The Waiter came and was very abrupt and grabbed the menus so fast that he took my tissue that was in my hand with the menus. Tea came and I was astonished to see the teapot was stained. Not very classy for the Plaza . Waiter delivered food and then we never saw him again. We ate our finger sandwiches which were good and then sat there forever. Could not locate the waiter. Finally my son got up and flagged down another waiter for the check. I have received better service at Denny's. Very disappointing will not return."

  • "I guess I had more expectation since I've been to High tea at the Dorchester in London. For the price, they should at least offer a second round of finger foods, especially the scones. You pay for the name not the service"
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "Afternoon tea is an event at the Plaza. The finger foods were surprisingly tasty, and there was quite a bit of it! They do offer the Eloise tea for children , and the people watching was fabulous. Definitely an experience!"

  • "I surprised my friends with a trip to The Plaza for afternoon tea. I was not disappointed. We ordered 3 tiers to share--The Fitzgerald, The Eloise, and The New Yorker. The presentation was incredible, our server was extremely polite and helpful, and the food was delicious. Everything I tried was perfect. The ambiance was classy, with a pianist providing background music. This is perfect for a get together with friends, a romantic date, and even children. Kids would love the Eloise tea. The tiers are filled with sweets, savory sandwiches, and scones. Tea at The Plaza is a must-try when you're in the city!"

  • "I am from Toronto and travel alot. Have been to many Afternoon Teas, London, Paris, Ireland and would say this is probably up there in my top 3. The food was traditional, although I use the term 'traditional' I am only referring to what is served, tea sandwiches, warm scones and delicious pastries but the quality is anything but ordinary. The service was outstanding, never had to look around for our server to top off the tea, he was always on top of everything, even offering to take a photo for us. There was piano music in the background, never too loud as to interfere with conversation. The only thing I would change - they do not use loose leaf tea, my preference. In NYC every year and this will now become part of my yearly visit."

  • "My daughter and I were in NYC for a mom-daughter weekend. We had seen The Plaza in a variety of movies so really wanted to experience it. We went to breakfast before a day of museums and shopping. It was what we had envisioned the Plaza to be. From our greeting to food to mood--all sophisticated, polished and professional. The food was very good. What would have made our experience a 5 star would have been a little personal connection--a feeling that The Plaza cared we were there,,,wanted to be there. I would definitely recommend the experience to everyone--at least once."

  • "My thanks to the Palm Court at the Plaza for making Afternoon Tea with my daughter so enjoyable. Everything was peaceful and unhurried, the offerings were delicious and presented with such old-world charm, and the service was impeccable. Lovely, simply lovely. (Note: Had it not been for a couple of shopping-bag-toting tourists taking selfies, the rating for Ambience would have been outstanding.)"

  • "The selection of sandwiches and cakes was very good. However the bread on one of the sandwiches was very dry. We did ask for it to be replaced, which it was, but the next one was not much better. The actual sandwich tasted delicious, but would have been better if fresher. We did have a table later in the afternoon,so perhaps the sandwiches would have been fresher earlier in the service. The service and experience was very good."

  • "I took my very good friend to Tea at The Plaza for her 70th birthday and it was a memorable day! Elegant, gorgeous surroundings - The Plaza is amazing. We had the High Tea at The Palm Court and the table was set beautifully. We each had the Fitzgerald Tea - delicious! We couldn't finish all the tasty desserts so they gave us a box to take them home. The service was very good - but they were busy so I would say they could been a bit more attentive. That said, the waiter did bring a special birthday dessert and we sang happy birthday! It was a day to remember!"

  • "My boyfriend and I decided we wanted to have Afternoon Tea at the plaza during our trip to New York City. We are both big F.Scott Fitzgerald/ Great Gatsby fans, as well as "Eloise at the Plaza" in our youth. We were looking forward to relaxing in such luxurious ambience after a long day of walking, and our expectations were hit very low. Our reservation was at 4:45, and felt extremely rushed from the beginning. On top of that, the waiter treated us like peasants because we were in our early twenties and not of the "noble breed." I could see if we dined and dashed, or ordered small meals, but between the both of us our order stacked to $150. If that amount of money doesn't earn us a grain of respect, I don't know what will."

  • "The Palm Court at the Plaza sells itself, which apparently means, service is not emphasized. Our waiter asked us for our order within a couple of minutes of being seated and allowed a whole two minutes after we requested more time. Aside from bringing our tea, we did not see him again. The server/hand who brought our food was delightful and was the one who tracked down our waiter when we were ready for the check. As noted in other reviews, they do charge a "holding fee" and after a discussion with the manager, I was assured it would be removed when the charge went through (which it did a few days later). This is an NYC tradition, but do not expect the same level of service that the Fitzgeralds were privy to..."
