The Palm Court at The Plaza HotelHigh Tea at the PlazaHigh Tea at the Plaza -- The food was divine. Every sandwich, scone, and dessert was delicious and gorgeous. The ambience and decor was elegant. The service was very good when present. A few times, staff would disappear for awhile and it was hard to get the attention of a waiter if we needed something or had a question. But that last issue could be due to the fact that we arrived just before 5pm and while they were happy to serve us, tea seating ends at 5pm. It was my mother's birthday and they brought her a beautiful plate with happy birthday written on it - a lovely touch.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEmptyCould not give me time requested even with many empty tables5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTimelessWe enjoyed high tea so much it felt like we had steped back in time to an era where the grace and elegance of afternoon tea was a given. Taking that small period of your day to relax and enjoy the company of someone special while participating in a time honored tradition! The teas were a perfect combination with the food too. Loved it!! Three snaps up!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMIconic setting - watch the billIconic setting in a historic hotel. Nice atmosphere. Food was ok - nothing special it's more about the setting. Beware though 6 of us met for Sunday brunch - 4 ate from the buffet 2 from the menu. 1 person who ate from the menu also ate a small pastry from a plate on our table belonging to a person who ate from the buffet. They tried to charge us $14 for a pastry basket. So they watch what you eat!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMtea treatMy sister and I had afternoon tea . What a fantastic experience a must when you visit New York.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAfternoon Tea at the PlazaEverything was wonderful with the exception of the ...TEA!
The tea was served in pots that did not retain the heat. Had to ask the waiter to re-supply us in order to have decent cup of tea.

Only wished the pianist would have played longer or that they had some music when she stopped.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful RestaurantThis is a beautiful restaurant. It was fun to see the place where parts of the Great Gatsby took place. They even had a little exhibit with things from the movie, which was fun to see. Expect a very formal atmosphere.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMMary Alice in the Palm CourtMary Alice in the Palm Court made it a great experience, excellent service.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways elegant, great ambiance.Always elegant, great ambiance. Very special, and they always do a great job.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic New YorkThe food is good, but not spectacular. The ambiance is what makes the experience, but you would expect exceptional food for the price and because the hotel is iconic.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my daughters birthday. It was my daughters birthday. She is 10. I wanted to take her to some place special were she would feel like a princess and have a beautiful view of the famous plaza hotel. We did do all that. I wrote an e-mail to the restaurant but still did not receive an answer.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely experienceMy daughter loves Eloise and absolutely loved tea at The Plaza. The food was spectacular and the service incredible!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMTea at the PlazaA wonderful experience so say you've had "Tea at the Plaza". The ambiance is outstanding, and the service what you would expect from such an establishment - sharp, courteous, professional, with attention to detail. You never really know your server is there until you need him, and he knows you need him a moment before you do!
If you've had tea at such establishments as London Ritz or London Dorchester, you'll miss the ability to select your deserts from a tray / trolley selection, and may be a little disappointed in the scones - they are small and dry. The sandwiches were outstanding, a more creative selection than I've had before - and I'd have willingly traded some of the deserts for an extra sandwich! All in all a must have experience.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMStep back in time to a gentlerStep back in time to a gentler era--chandeliers, luminous glass ceilings, palm trees. The Afternoon Tea at the Palm Court distills the essence of a more genteel New York, as well as the spirit of the lively and renowned Eloise.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was the best part of ourIt was the best part of our trip to New York. I have always heard of Tea at the Plaza, but this was the first time we did it. It was the best experience and I truly enjoyed being with my two daughters and sharing this wonderful time. The atmosphere of the Plaza and the Palmetto Room was so great. The waiter Fariz(spelling) was exceptional and a true gentleman.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time atThis was our second time at the Plaza for high tea in the past couple of months. This time, we had to wait quite a while for the food to arrive and then the scones were not even warm. The last time was much quicker service so we had expected that again, especially with a baby. But overall, we LOVE having tea at the Plaza - it is a memorable experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAfternoon tea served in theAfternoon tea served in the famous Palm Restaurant was really lovely with piano playing in the background and the overall ambiance of being under that fantastic Art Nouveau stained glass ceiling. We took my mother for her birthday and she really enjoyed it. We both had the New York Tea, which comprised of a three tiered platter with finger sandwiches, bite-sized desserts and scones, complete with clotted cream, jam and lemon curd. My husband had the Fitzgerald Tea which differed slightly in the sandwich and dessert selection, but had the same portions. Wonderful for a special occasion and in close proximity to the theater district if you want to catch an evening show. Our 4 om reservation was perfect.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSean from MichiganSteeped in history and truly iconic, afternoon tea at The Plaza is a must for anyone visiting the city whom wishes to indulge in the tradition. Been to The Plaza twice now for tea and can say for some reason, I enjoyed it better on my first visit. Try as I might, I can't quite put my finger on why exactly that was. Might've just been a personal problem or something similar that day. My partner ordered the standard option and I opted for the Fitzgerald which was $10 more and had a few different menu variations from the other. I much preferred the desserts on his rather than mine. Next time I visit NYC, I'll be trying tea elsewhere to see how it compares to the legendary Plaza Hotel.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a delightful time celebratinWe had a delightful time celebrating my daughter's eighth birthday with an Eloise outing. The wait staff and maitre' d were phenomenal. Very welcoming, friendly and made my daughter feel special. Highly recommend this experience!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAfternoon Tea at The PlazaBooking process through Open Table was straightforward. Very attentive service, wonderful atmosphere and excellent for a special occasion. It is expensive for the amount of food but the quality, presentation and experience make it worthwhile.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding High Tea experienceA great High Tea experience. We had the most wonderful time.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMy daughter and I had afternoonMy daughter and I had afternoon tea at the Palm Court on our recent trip to New York. We have afternoon tea a couple of times a year and always somewhere special when we are on vacation. Given that this restaurant was at the top of our tea list, I was slightly disappointed in the service. The host did not welcome us. The head wait staff forgot to bring our check--I think he may have forgotten about us altogether. With that said, our server made sure that our beverages were full and we did not feel rushed. The food was good and plentiful. I had expected the prices to be more in New York at a famous hotel, but they were the same, if not less than afternoon tea in the Dallas area where I live.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMy 30th Birthday Tea PartyI wanted to do something special for my 30th birthday. Growing up, my mother gave me tea parties as my signature way of celebrating my birthday. After my 18th birthday they fizzled out due to college, but when we planned to meet in NYC for my birthday I knew I had to try something extra special to mark this once-in-a-lifetime occasion. I got excited when I saw that afternoon tea was available and VERY affordable! We dressed up a little and arrived to experience one of the best memories of my life. From the atmosphere to the food to the mere fact I was sharing tea with my mom for my birthday at THE Plaza, I was in awe and beyond thankful. Thank you for giving me one of the most precious memories of my life.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! Such a treat toWonderful! Such a treat to have tea at the Plaza. :)3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant and Exceptional.Let me begin by stating I make a point of having high tea at fine hotels around the world. This is an elegant experience of exceptional quality. The tea staff accommodated my pesco-vegetarian request and kept my tea-pot full. I asked for a particular seat when I arrived at a busy time (I was a party of one & wanted a high-backed blue velvet chair) and the host graciously asked me to wait a few moments. I was whisked to the seat of my dreams. I was able to enjoy not just a view of the entire court, but also my privacy. I was reading and felt no pressure to move on although it was spring break week and New York was filled with tourists vying to have tea at the Plaza. They handle their strict reservation requests with aplomb3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Plaza High Tea is Superb! There is nothing like having High Tea at The Plaza Hotel. It is a must for all New Yorkers. & those visiting the Big Apple. Fariz Tello was our server and he is simply the best! The High Tea is a wonderful experience and enhanced by the musical element and ambiance.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter was a bit pretentiousOur waiter was a bit pretentious rather than friendly, but otherwise the service was fine. For the price there could have been a few more tea sandwiches on the tray, but I guess this was the Plaza. Otherwise a very enjoyable experience.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLove coming to the Plaza forLove coming to the Plaza for tea. The food and service are always top notch!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh tea at the Palm CourtHigh tea at the Palm Court is the perfect mother-daughter bonding occasion, or any special get together with friends. The food is spectacular, and the atmosphere is lovely. The service was fantastic and every staff member was warm and inviting. The Plaza is of course beautiful, so get to your reservation a bit early so you have time to look around! Be sure to come somewhat hungry, because the tea menu is much more filling than you might expect. Take as much time as you'd like to finish the meal, no one will rush you out after you've finished eating. Which is wonderful, because half the fun of tea at the Palm Court is enjoying the ambiance!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is still the classiestThis is still the classiest high tea around. A delightful and memorable experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAmbience enheightens the entireAmbience enheightens the entire experience. A must for everyone. Beautiful food presentation and taste.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful OasisThe Palm Court at the Plaza provides an attractive oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The design and decor are reminiscent of bygone colonial settings whose opulence and discrete table arrangements make for a delightful experience. The service was excellent - attentive and courteous to a fault..3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ambience was elegant,The ambience was elegant, the service outstanding--efficient, unintrusive and friendly. The tea sandwiches, scones and pastry were all delicious and the tea selection extensive and interesting. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it a couple of times a year for special events or just to treat yourself.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful experience...elegantBeautiful experience...elegant atmosphere and amazing menu choices for lunch. Turned out to be one of our favorite New York dining experiences and we had many that stood out!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMRelaxing!Went here after a rough week (just needed to relax!) and it was perfect. The beautiful ceilings, the trees, the wait staff -- you just feel like you're on vacation, even if you live a few neighborhoods away! Not sure what the crowd is typically like, but there were definitely a number of open tables available, which made the restaurant even better - you felt like you were escaping the hustle and bustle for an hour or two. I highly recommend!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
