  • "Usually my favorite restaurant to go to on special occasions, take a customer, or treat someone that hasn't been. Unfortunately this visit disappointed me. It was a birthday for a good friend, the service was wonderful, usually is. Due to space: Some of the courses were not as impressive: The Chef's Trio lacked creativity, and taste, 2nd course was good, 3rd course/okay, Main Course: Veal Cheek was overcooked, and resembled consistency of Pot Roast, when I left the majority on the plate, I did expect them to notice--they did not. The Roasted Quail was also overcooked. Apparently the Bacon wrapped Tenderloin was good. They did have a very large party upstairs that might have added stress to the kitchen. Alas, this will be my last visit"

  • "I've eaten many fancy places in the world but I have to say that The Painted Lady is top of my list for food and service. Of particular note were the wine pairings which set off each course beautifully. Some real surprises like the smoked ice cream with prosciutto. I would highly recommend it."

  • "This was the best meal since I can't remember when. Had the Grand Tasting Menu and everything on it was incredible. I had not eaten here in a couple of years and had forgotten how wonderful the food really is."

  • "My wife and I ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu with wine pairing, and could not have been happier with the food and service. Highly recommended."

  • "Dining at The Painted Lady was a wonderful experience. We met friends from college that we haven't seen in 40 years and the whole night was a treat. The food was unbelievable, the service excellent. Our friends really enjoyed the wine that was selected for us by the staff and we ended up at the winery the next day enjoying the view and a special wine tasting. I loved my Old Fashion! They really are knowledgeable about the proper way to make a cocktail. I just wish we had been more complimentary while we were there but we were caught up in stories of old college escapades. I would love to go back when we can pay more attention to the great food and service. Thank you Painted Lady for a wonderful evening."

  • "This was my second visit to The Painted Lady and for my guest as well. From the moment we walked up the stairs and they opened the door and greeted us, we knew we were in for a treat. And the staff did not let us down. Great table, service and of course the exceptional food. We would return again"

  • "We dine out a lot and there is literally no better restaurant that we've been to throughout the valley or during any of our travels throughout the world. Definitely a special occasion type of place. We've been here three times and during all three dining experiences we have never had a single disappointment."

  • "Painted Lady fires on all cylinders: lovely setting, beautiful flatware and dishes, creative and artistic presentation, friendly and professional service, GREAT food. This is haute cuisine at its' finest: approachable and classic with locavore twists. Don't miss it if you're in Oregon Wine Country. Disclosure: we are locals who don't eat here as often as we'd like - it is expensive after all - but we've gone often enough to know it's our favorite place. No "Portlandia" silliness here - polished and deserving of the accolades it gets."

  • "We have talked about going to this restaurant for several years since we live in the area. We knew that it was quite expensive, but had heard the food and service was worth the price. The service was very good, but I would say not any better than other fine restaurants. We opted for the Chef's choice side of the menu with the 5 wine paring. We were very disappointed with the food and the wines were nothing special. I did order an additional glass of wine, which I was suppressed to find was $25 and we had some sparkling water. Total bill with tip $400. We could have eaten twice at most other fine restaurants in the area and received the same service but had an exceptional meal. Save your money and visit some of the other restaurants."

  • "Our party of 4 enjoyed all aspects of food and service. The veal cheeks and pork tenderloin were tasty and well prepared."

  • "I don't believe, The Painted Lady, could be surpassed even in the Portland area. I do know you will not find a better staff for service."

  • "Go ahead and spend the money - what are you saving it for? Yes, the Painted Lady will make more of a dent in your wallet than many people are accustomed to, but it's worth every dime. A well-crafted iteration of the upscale multi-course approach, with some innovative specialties, and delicious ingredients. Attentive but not obtrusive service made our visit a pleasant one. And maybe the best part is, the portions are fashionably small, sufficient that you won't have to endure as much of a burden of caloric guilt for indulging yourself. Put the Painted Lady on your bucket list, and start saving up those shekels. Beege"

  • "The Painted Lady was a dining experience that met all expectations. The menu provided various choices over two separate fixed menu dining options (one with a wine pairing per serving course - one without out). The food quality and service was impeccable. There were several additional unexpected servings that went with the meal (extra appetizers and dessert niblets). A wonderful dining experience."

  • "We were given a git certificate by my son, a real foodie who lives in the East. He had done his research and sent us to the Painted Lady. We chose the left-hand menu, and my partner and I selected the same entree, the pork tenderloin. It was magnificent. The entire meal was a taste treat, and my partner ended with the Meyer lemon soufflé, which was beyond excellent! All in all, we had a wonderful evening and would recommend "The Lady" to anyone who seeks a memorable evening!"

  • "AMAZING dinner and service! We loved every minute and are still talking about the service! A birthday suprise at the end of the meal was just over the top."

  • "Chef Allan yet again cooked one of my most memorable meals. The gnocchi were perfectly cooked and the flavors were sublime! I followed that with his roast quail surrounding a superb farce - so yummy! I will be back very soon to have his veal cheek dish. I would recommend The Painted lady for anyone wanting to celebrate a special event in their lives or indeed to simply just enjoy life. The food and service will bring you to a sated peaceful place by the end of your meal."

  • "My wife and I come from the food service industry, and it occurred to us on our latest visit that the waitstaff were literally perfect. Not a single flaw or mistake. They're friendly, but not intrusive; informative, but they don't ramble on about every little detail. From a food perspective there isn't a better restaurant in the region. We love many restaurants from Newberg to McMinnville, but The Painted Lady is on a different level. While it is on the high side in terms of price, it is an absolute must for food enthusiasts. This is an easy five star review for us; as close to flawless as possible."

  • "Service was exceptional. Food was superb. My 6'4" hubby could've done with bigger portions But we've travelled the world and have to say this would be up in top five!!! You won't be disappointed. Fixe menu or chefs selection Wine pairings avail. All served with class. Great attention to detail."

  • "Thank you Painted Lady. I thentofore believed one must travel our of state - to SF or NYC, for a restaurant that understood fine dining. With only about 40 seats- depending on how you count them, the challenge of getting a resi was explained. -- Worth the wait. Greeted with charm and eye contact, seated immediately, we enjoyed the four course left side of the menu. I will certainly return for the even fuller offerings on the right. While I disagreed with the pairing of the wine steward for my veal cheeks - I find that part of the fun."

  • "Went for my birthday celebration after deciding that we like the Painted Lady better than Joel Palmer House and Paulee. We enjoyed the complimentary canape, amuse bouche, and petit fours with our 4 course meals. We decided for the 4 course meals so we had choices over the 8 course fixe prix and could share different dishes. There were 2 fabulous dishes: The first one was a Miso Custard, Dungeness Crab, Nori, Enoki Mushrooms, topped with Dashi broth. AMAZING! The other one was Local Poached Egg, Angel Hair Pasta, Parmesan/Chive Foam, topped with Shaved Truffle, which they substituted for us from the Chef's menu. SO DELICIOUS! Both of these were symphonies in your mouth! All the food was outstanding. I highly recommend The Painted Lady!"

  • "This is the second time I ate at The Painted Lady with my husband. The ambience and the food were both excellent. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Overall, our dining experience was very enjoyable. We look forward to going back again soon. Be aware, this is a VERY expensive restaurant but as the saying goes- "you get what you pay for". I think the meal is worth the price."

  • "This was our four year to spend New Year's Eve at the Painted Lady and we could not ask for a better place. The food was great, the service was great, the ambiance was great, we love it all."

  • "This was our third year coming to The Painted Lady for New Years Eve-- and it was amazing (as always). The food was outstanding, service was impeccable, and the wine was served at the right temperature (which, sadly, is rare- even in Oregon where people should know wine better!). We loved that Chef Routt came out after our meal to say hello (he doesn't know us- this was just something he seemed to do for all the tables) and that they didn't provide bread and butter (I'm sure it was available if we'd asked, but they didn't offer it-- and it would have made the meal too filling if we'd had any). This place is just so consistent and provides an amazing feast using reasonable portion sizes. Recommend for any time of the year-- but esp. NYE."

  • "The wine list is exceptional, however not very affordable. For spending the extra money on a special occasion dinner, it would have been nice to have a few more affordable but good wines to choose from."

  • "A visual feast as much as a food feast! The first bite is a always a lovely surprise of contrasting and complimentary tastes and textures. Each course is prepared and presented with perfection and innovation. They draw upon local sources for many menu items but are not afraid to "go global," as seen in the Asian-inspired soup course. The cherrywood smoked steelhead is memorable, as it is served in small lidded pots that are opened before the guest's eye, releasing a wisp of wood smoke that wafts to the nose, building anticipation of the taste to follow. The service is thoughtful, personal and perfect. Everyone should have The Painted Lady, Oregon's top-rated restaurant, on their list of "must-try" restaurants."

  • "It's sometimes hard to go back to a restaurant multiple times and not find the magic disappear. Not so with the Painted Lady, it just keeps getting better and better each time. The combination of wonderful, inventive food, great services and a beautiful setting is hard to find."

  • "I spent a weekend in February on a ridiculous, glutinous tour of NY with my son. Lunch at Per Se, dinner at 11 Madison Park, lunch the next day at Jean George…among a few other 1 and 2 stars. While Painted Lady doesn’t have the business to support some of the service and services, their food can defiantly hang with the big boys and their service was more than I would have ever expected. A great evening, not one misstep for our table of 4."

  • "I had read a glowing review of The Painted Lady which led me to make a reservation and I was delighted that my experience here far surpassed any expectation I had had. Despite being held up by traffic and arriving late for the reservation, the staff were warm and welcoming. The presentation and service were impeccable and the food to die for! I highly recommend doing the Chef's Tasting Menu."

  • "A classy restaurant for a classy friend! We celebrated a friend's birthday at The Painted Lady. All four friends decided to go for the Chef's menu and none regretted the decision. For the most part, we all chose different dishes and we all raved about the unique combinations. We also appreciated the outstanding service, as the birthday girl said: "we truly felt like royalty". We will go back for sure for another special occasion - it's totally worth it!"
