  • Parking Details: We provide valet parking from the driveway at the front of the hotel. Underground hotel parking is located at the Quebec Street entrance, and there is elevator access to the dining room level. The parking charge is reimbursed when the bottom of the parking pass is brought to the dining room and presented before payment for dinner. Street parking is also available.

  • "We found this was a good restaurant for a quiet dinner. Good selection of cocktails and wine. The food was fine and our server was very attentive. The prices were upper mid-range. We spent a little over $100 for our two meals, appetizers, one dessert and a total of 3 drinks. One entrance is off the lobby of the Grand Pacific Hotel, located about two blocks from the Empress Hotel. While nearly empty during our evening meal it is probably busier serving hotel guests during breakfast and lunch hours. The sparkling cleanliness of the silverware caught my attention. The restaurant staff obviously cares and pays attention to quality details. "

  • "If you are looking for a "touch of Europe" close to the US, the Pacific Restaurant is an excellent choice! The quality and freshness of the food? Outstanding! The menu selection reflects the many cultural influences that make Victoria so unique! During our stay at the Grand Pacific hotel we enjoyed afternoon tea, and three dinners at the Pacific Restaurant and bar. Afternoon tea reflects a lovely Asian influence...the teas are superb!!!!Servers were kind and attentive. Ask for Patrick in the bar, Yuri or Martin in the restaurant...great! They are great and will make your dining experience at the Pacific Restaurant a pleasant one! Ask for the "Tap Merlot" to accompany your dinner. An excellent full bodied local wine! "

  • "50 minute wait for entree, no offer for more wine, scallops cooked into oblivion atop a white glue-like substance, and we waited so long for dishes to clear we started piling at the end of our table. A really disappointing experience on a special night. Breakfast staff is great, dinner doesn't measure up."

  • "We had the breakfast buffet. While the service was excellent and the food was good, the selection was embarrassing lacking. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, and some sort of quiche were the main entrees. There were some breads and pastries, a small plate of fish, some fruits, and some desserts. Where was the omelette bar? Where was the Eggs Benedict? I was quite flabbergasted at the relative of choices for such a classy (and relatively expensive) buffet. For shame..."

  • "Afternoon tea at the Hotel Grand Pacific was disappointing. The tea selection was limited, and the tea was brewed and served in a metal plunger. It was weak and not very good. The food was delicious and varied, but we waited 30 minutes for a minute slice of quiche and 50 minutes for the tray of savory and sweet tea foods. I enjoyed these overall but inexplicably there were two pots of cream. So far as I could see the second was a space-filler. Ditto for the two candies on the tray. We paid almost $40 apiece and the hotel should serve high quality prepared foods. The prepared food was high quality and delicious, but the quality should carry through to every aspect of the experience, and that was not the case."

  • "Make no mistake - this is gourmet dim sum, no carts, not the ordinary. However, the chef has turned run-of-the-mill dim sum into a culinary delight. The menu is limited and needless to say, carts are nonexistent. But we cam out pleasant full and with the memory of some wonderful, and unusual, unique takes on the basic bites. And the coconut tart was to die for. Tea selection is also excellent - I had the jasmine white tea, which was delicate and flavorful. Price was reasonable for all this. Next time you're in Victoria, look this one up."

  • "We were there on Christmas Day. The food was good but the waitress was straight out of a fifties roadside diner. The rest of the staff were excellent but we got the short end of the straw. At those prices it would have been nice to have a server who had some manners and knew what she was doing. Most of the other patrons were geriatric and we felt like we'd barged into an old-age home. It may have been the holiday that attracted the preponderance of eighty year-olds, so I don't know if that's their regular crowd."

Eggs Benny was cold, sausages tasted like they had lain in the straw the animal slept on, baskets for breads and pastries were empty, potates were soggy from sitting to long in the salvo. The orange juice was the only star offered on the whole brunch. Over all an underwhelming brunch. Probably will not go again, and definitely will NOT recommend to friends. Sorry."

  • "We came for a Jazz Festival concert. The restaurant is attached to a lounge and extends out into the hallway. There is a limited menu in the fine dining style. With the fine dining restaurant the Mark just a few feet away, the menu needs to be scaled down and expanded in offerings to aim for mid-range patrons. Although the food was good, with so many outstanding restaurants in the city offering so much, it was a bit disappointing that the Grand had nothing special to offer. This restaurant could have been located in any city hotel across the continent. It needs an identity of its own to make it a destination. It seems to be limited to a few hotel guests. Service was good, the desserts nice, but had limited Island wines."

  • "My starter and main were tasty (bouillabaisse and duck confit)although the broccoli puree was a strange addition to the plate,3 green dollops that tasted like olive oil. My husbands main of a shredded beef pasta was just lacking any interesting flavour. It was very blah. The desserts were nothing special either. Each of our plates had a fresh sliced strawberry and then inexplicably a strawberry that seemed to have been thawed out,in other words a slimy blob. Very confusing in contrast to the fresh one.Service was off as well. For an evening out that we had been looking forward to, it was disappointing."

  • "The saving grace for the restaurant during our lunch was the view. Otherwise the food was ho hum and sparse with more lettuce than anything else. Service was timely as there was snow in Victoria and not a lot of people downtown. However the servers and atmosphere all seemed a bit tense. I was disappointed as I had recommended the venue to my visiting business guests and I know there are other restaurants that would have made their visit memorable."

  • "We had their American Thanksgiving 3-course menu. The appetizers were tasty - comforting yam & pear soup and a flavourful pork terrine with pickled vegetables. This was followed by memorable mains. My wife had the traditional turkey dinner highlighted by silky, savoury gravy and melt-in-your-mouth sausage stuffing while I enjoyed a succulent piece of trout and a bacon bread pudding. Finally we were served dessert which produced both a home run and a surprising strike-out. The home run was a creamy sugar pumpkin pie with a satisfying molasses chocolate sauce and the unfortunate miscue was a dry, overcooked ginger cake with a dried up caramel smear. Overall, it was a very good meal that was very close to being outstanding."
