A word from The Oxford House Inn
Dining at the Oxford House Inn is truly a memorable experience. Culinary Institute of America graduate Chef/Co-Owner Jonathan Spak crafts his seasonally changing menus to showcase the best that local farms have to offer in the farm to table concept. While overall his style is considered
contemporary American cuisine, influences and techniques from Asia, Southwestern United States and France are often incorporated. Hand cut steaks, fresh Maine seafood, homemade pastas, fresh salads and decadent desserts are creatively presented. Choose to dine fireside, on our popular screened in front porch, or on our glassed in back porch that offers spctacular sunset mountain veiws. You may also dine at JONATHAN'S, our lively pub. This popular gathering spot features creative specialty cocktails, classic martinis, local beers and varied wines served in a casual yet urban atmosphere. In 2010 we received Four Stars from The Maine Sunday Telegram and are a certified Environmental Leader.

Eating at the Oxford House Inn is
always a special occasion. The three times I have eaten there during the past year and a half, the food is both interesting and delicious, the service is always very good and the ambiance is elegant without being ostentatious. It is quiet and not rushed."

The food was excellent but a
little to expensive for casual dining. And in my opinion should be reserved for special occasions or a rare treat."

Well worth the drive over from
Lovell. My wife and I enjoyed every moment."

Our fifth visit to the oxford
house did not disappoint. Wonderful dinner, quiet dining room in front of house, great service. Lobster tail and filet were excellent!"

Found the Inn via the internet,
and what a find! The pear-ginger cocktail was a delightful launch to a pitch-perfect meal. The scallops, greens, risotto - laced with maple syrup and bacon - were an explosion of deliciousness with each bite. Service just right - timely, attentive, respectful. We will make the trip just to dine here again. Wonderful new year's discovery!"

My wife and I can't say enough
good things about the Oxford House. Between Jonathan's utterly amazing and creative food, Natalie's friendly greetings, and the "choose-your-atmosphere" between the upstairs and downstairs, it's perfect. Romantic and quiet upstairs, hip and fun downstairs and the same menu in both. Perfect place."
Dined on 9/7/2013
Food was outstanding! Our server
was very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend it."

Two of us were offered the table
in front of the fireplace. It was a cold December night and the fire was delightful. We asked if we could be out in an hour and a quarter as we had a function to go to. The service was friendly, competent and efficient. I had Salmon done perfectly with a crispy top and The other meal was filet mignon done perfectly as well, both with tasty sides and a Demi glacé. I would go back on a flash, the cocktails were very good as was wine selection."

We always enjoy dining at the
Oxford House. The ambience and service are excellent. The reason I am giving it a 3 this time is because my salmon and the accompanying items were over seasoned and I only ate 1/3 of my meal. However, my husband got the lamb and it was terrific. The salads were divine. Also, drinks beforehand in the lower level bar are a must do. Great service and ambience and very good selection of beers and wine."

My Husband an I have been
fortunate to have experienced beautiful meals at many fine restaurants from coast to coast, yet The Oxford House remains our favorite! The food is unique an always delicious. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. They always make you feel like you are at home (with a remarkable chef). I cannot say enough about our many wonderful experiences here. We look forward to dining here many many more times!"

Excellent food as usual. Truly the
gem of the Mount Washington Valley in my opinion."

Oxford House Inn is the best
restaurant in the great state of Maine, located in tiny Fryeburg near the New Hampshire border. You can dine in the beautiful dining rooms, or relax in the more casual pub in the downstairs location. Either way, the food is incredible. It's worth a trip from wherever you are!"

Stayed overnight at the Oxford
House Inn (a thoroughly delightful stay and breakfast was excellent) and had dinner at the inn before heading over to Stone Mountain Arts Center for a concert. The food was delicious and elegant. Ran out f time for dessert but have not doubt it would have met the very high standard set by the appetizers and main courses. Cannot wait to stay and dine there again!"

Oxford House is the best local
good food eating spot. During daylight savings it has a great views."

Our experience at The Oxford House
was unbelievably fantastic! We started in the bar for a drink prior to our reservation time. The bartenders were wonderful. Once seated in the dining area we were greeted with a very friendly waitress. It was a full house and our food all came out very fast! The food was out of this world good and I have never had a better cocktail! Highly recommend and I can not wait to return!"
Dined on 11/9/2013
The Oxford House Inn was
recommended to my husband and I as a good place to celebrate his 50th birthday. They couldn't have been more right! It was a short, scenic drive from our hotel in North Conway and it turned out to be one of the best meals we've had all year. Our server was very attentive and knowledgable. Our meals exceeded our expectations. We will certainly return to this quaint inn with an exceptional chef!"

We don't live far from this
wonderful B and B so we are thinking of making it an annual visit. Food is some of the best I've had. The flavor combinations are so unique and leave you wanting more."

lovely dining experience."

This space was cozy and perfect
for a date night out! The hostess was immensely helpful with directions, as we were from out of town and slightly lost. Upon arrival, we were seated at the bar (which we special requested!) and there we enjoyed several courses of delicious food and some lovely cocktails shaken by our bartender, who was a delight. He shared with us a cool story about our bottle of wine we ordered too which was a nice touch (learn something new everyday) Can't wait to go back next time we're escaping town for a great night out, in a gem of a cozy spot!"
Dined on 10/9/2013
We had difficulty finding anything
we wanted from the menu--too many sweet choices. The waitress forgot to inquire about the preparation of the pork, but came back to take our order anyway. My steak frites was ok and cooked perfectly, but the ginger chicken was bland as were all the accompaniments. And the chicken was overpriced at $24. But there is not a lot of choice in the area."
Dined on 10/1/2013
The bar offered several excellent
wines and beers as well as cocktails that guests can take outside to comfortable lawn chairs. The view across the Saco River Valley to mountains beyond is not to be missed and can also be seen from one of the dining rooms, so book an early table. Food here is always top notch. We started with field green salads that were fresh, beautiful and flavorful. The ladies had grilled salmon and the gentlemen had beef. All delicious. The chef takes advantage of the wide variety of local ingredients and treats them with respect. Sides and sauces always complement and enhance the entree. We usually skip desserts, but at Oxford House we indulge. Creme Brulee and home made ice cream were perfect."

Always a five star experience.
Excellent food. The specials were delicioius and reasonably priced. Ditto for the wine. The staff is always friiendly, attentive and helpful."

I had the Scallop special and it
was to die for. Everything I've had there has been expertly and creatively cooked and presented. The service was great and the wine exceptional. It has been one of my favorites in the North Conway area."

Oxford House met expectations as
one of only 2 excellent fine dining restaurants in a 40 mile radius of the valley (the other being Libby's in Gorham, NH). Apart from a temperature issue with one of the appetizers (corn fritters were cold), the food was excellent. The acoustics were not ideal; you could hear the conversations of all the other parties. The service would have been ok if this wasn't a $50+ per person meal. The waitress was friendly, but not attentive and not knowledgeable enough. I asked for a list of single malt scotch and she read off all but the last one (which I noticed later because the desert menu listed them). There were huge gaps of time when she did not return to the table to check on us."
Dined on 9/11/2013
My husband & I dined at the Oxford
House Inn recently while vacationing in NH. We received friendly service throughout the night. The menu that night seemed more heavily weighted in deep fried preparations. We chose the Maine crab cakes, the crispy Vietnamese short ribs with pho broth, for mains, the pulled duck & the steak frites & the . The crab cakes were incredible & while the short ribs were a tad too salty, the overall presentation & conception of the dish was genius. The steak frites was a huge disappointment - the steak was ok but the shoestring fries were dry, stringy, & burnt. There wasn't a distinguishing feature of this dish that stood out. My advice would be to stick to the appetizers and the great desserts."

I brought my girlfriend here after
a friend suggested we go. It was beyound my expectations. It's now our new special dining spot! Very romantic!!"
Dined on 9/4/2013
We LOVE this place. And although
the food was great and the service was incredibly friendly and helpful when they were attending to us, the pace was GLACIAL. I never understand why places like this don't just bite the bullet and hire bus people for a couple of hours a night?!?!? This seems to be a phenomenon of the MT. Wash. Valley that is annoying as heck to this local. We'll be back."
Dined on 9/1/2013
Found the Oxford House Inn via
OpenTable and went because it is so well reviewed. Period moldings, lovely garden view, amazing food. Very well put together menu is both comfortable and daring. Strawberry-jalapeño margarita was a highlight; cocktail menu was too good to make just one selection."

Oxford House Inn brings fine
dining to western Maine. The CIA-trained chef is very creative in the kitchen, and has been quite successful at blending local food with international flavors. The menu has a range of options for more and less ambitious palates. My son had an Asian-inspired noodle dish that was fascinating and good; I often go for the duck in its different guises, all of which have been excellent. You can't go wrong with the appetizers and desserts - all excellent! And if you really want to treat yourself - book a room at the inn and enjoy the fabulous multi-course breakfast while looking out over the meadows and mountains in the back room. This is also a very comfortable place to stay and dine when travelling alone."

I've eaten here on numerous
occasions. You will not find a better dining experience in the Mt. Washington Valley or Western Maine. The food is great, the atmosphere is causally elegant and the service is top notch. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance during summer and fall months. You will not be disappointed."

The best restaurant in the
foothills of the White Mountains. Varied menu with choices for all palettes and a wine list to match. Wonderful friendly service and Hendrick's in the bar."

Oxford House Inn is always
reliable for great food w a beautiful mtns view. The staff is gracious and accomodating. I had thoguht of this as a secial occaision restaurant BUT now they have Bistro Platesoffered that are not as expensive as he regular enterees offered. none in our party tried, but our app and entees were all delicious."

Don't miss this place. One of the
finest in New England, even though it is tucked away in Fryeburg, ME. However, it is 15 minutes from the busy North Conway, NH summer and ski resorts, just over the border. As a Bostonian who has eaten at superb restaurants over the years, the food here is truly outstanding.About six full entrees , but also a bistro menu with variety. A number of unique appetizers to choose from and a white chocolate raspberry cake that should be patented. The Inn itself has three separate dining rooms, although each may hold only 10-20. Wonderful bar in the cellar with stone walls and wood burning stove. Intimate, romantic and good for special occasions."
Dined on 7/21/2013
Never ever ever a bad meal.
Seasonal menu, farm fresh produce and never flaws."
Dined on 7/12/2013
Really good food and great
hospitality; the experience was a real joy!"
Dined on 7/11/2013
We feel very fortunate to live in
a town that has the Oxford House Inn available to us for any occasion. The downstairs pub has a casual atmosphere and pub menu, though you can also order from the full dining room menu in the pub. The main floor of the inn is intimate and romantic, and it is excellentt for special occasions. In the summer the porch is a perfect combination of the pub and dining room. We highly recommend the Oxford House Inn to anyone looking for an outstanding meal."
