  • "The Owl House is my go-to place for food that is both nutritious, inventive and downright tasty. F"

  • "The ambiance was nice until 8:30. I ate outside and there is not any outdoor lighting. By the time my food came out, I had to use the light from my phone to see my food. I got the summer pasta and it was ok, but I really was very salty. As a vegetarian I want to go back and give the restaurant a second chance because of all the vegetarian and vegan friendly options. But the first time around I really was not impressed."

  • "Our family members have a variety of food allergies and intolerances (peanuts, gluten, dairy, and more). The Owl House was very accommodating - we really appreciated that!"

  • "The Owl House was the perfect spot for a night with old friends. The food was fantastic. Each dish was better than the next! We sat outside on the beautiful patio on a perfect Summer night."

  • "I have NEVER had a bad meal at The Owl House. I love the old house and while the entree list is small it is all upscale food that is wonderful. The service is good and the people are all very friendly. I absolutely love it~"

  • "My husband and I had our 20th anniversary dinner here the other night. Our first time visiting restaurant. Enjoyed experience very much. Walked in at 6:25 for our6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. Felt comfortable immediately. Waiter friendly, courteous, & helpful. My husband brews his own beer, so he was very interested in the very long beer menu. My salmon was good tasting, his scallops were delicious, & veggies very well prepared. We shared the vanilla blueberry cake, that easily served us both generously. It was an interesting mix of diners from Rochester area. We felt comfortable entire evening. We didn't want to rush, & weren't. Food & drinks well-timed as well. Looking forward to return with my daughter for lunch on patio!"

  • "Friendly, lively atmosphere. Staff seemed to be on a first name basis with "regulars". However we did not feel left out or excluded. Well rounded menu. Fresh but could have used a bit more seasoning as a little bland. Overall an enjoyable experience and find."

  • "Nestled in a quiet little neighborhood, this place is a special find. Everything was exceptional. And they have gluten free menu and beer options."

  • "The chickpea burger was dynamite, one of the best veggie burgers I've had. It was crispy and firm instead of squishy (a common veggie burger problem). We got the vegan charcuterie which was very interesting. The service was great! I highly recommend."

  • "I've been a fan of the Owl House for about 3 years. That's not to say that I haven't been disappointed. The food, at times, rivals the best I've ever had: vegan mac, cauliflower wings, curried carrot soup, flat bread with Daiya, red velvet truffles, just to name a few. Then I've had a few experiences that have left me wondering what happened to that amazing food from last time. The Cauli wings were delicious as was the special non alcoholic drink. However, the summer pasta with rainbow chard left much to be desired. The pasta was overcooked, and the chard well undercooked. The extreme differences in texture made for a tough chew. The olives overpowered the delicate pesto. The blueberry cake had an overwhelming after taste of uncooked flour."

  • "We choose this for a special occasion and we hadn't been there before. The menu was interesting but our server was distracted and wasn't helpful explaining or suggesting. We had the vegan charcuterie platter and I had the oyster mushroom main course with the beet salad. It was just too strange. Odd plating, odd flavors. It was just not our cup of tea."

  • "The food is good but not consistent. Don't expect what you ordered on one visit to be the same on the next, I guess it depends on who is in the kitchen at any given time. The service is very good and I would rate it higher than the food."

  • "A great spot for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike. The menu is creative and filled with locally-sourced ingredients. The Owl House also has a great wine and beer list and cocktail menu."

  • "Both the vegetarians & meat eaters were happy. Even the bacon & eggs had a twist. Very attentive service and charming outdoor space."

  • "The Owl House is a great place for those with special dietary needs to enjoy a great meal. They cater to vegans, omnivores, and the gluten intolerant. Though the menu is limited, the food is outstanding. They have a very nice selection of wines and beers, including a few delicious craft beers."

  • "The food: excellent! They have great vegetarian fare, while maintaining a more limited but still delicious selection of meat-centric dishes. This was our 3rd time and we were not disappointed. The menu changes often, so check back - know you will not be disappointed on this front! The service this time was mediocre. We made reservations, and got stuck in a corner. Our waiter treated us like children.... feigning surprise when we ordered alcohol then scrutinizing our ID's, and finally a theatrical start when he saw my AMEX card. If someone makes a reservation don't stick them in a corner while the couple who didn't have one gets a nice outside (which we weren't offered.) Your food might bring us back, but your service won't!"

  • "I didn't see anything in the reviews about this being a Farm to Table concept. They totally deliver. Although not everything on the menu is locally harvested the important items are and it makes all the difference in the world. The Sushi was really great and we got there just before 6pm so we were able to enjoy the special. Finally, their mixologist put together a drink menu which had something for everyone. Highly recommended. The next time I am in town I will be bringing friends back to The Hamilton."

  • "I have been vegan for a little over a year now adopting a 90% plant based diet. This resturant was a treat for me as well as my carnivorous husband and in-laws. We will be back!"

  • "You will never know you are eating vegan food! (There are non vegan meat dishes too). This was the BEST place I've eaten at in NY."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "We had two vegetarian/vegans in our group of five. The Owl House actually had great options for them without resorting to a salad or a lame tofu burger. We all shared grilled tofu nachos and their signature black pepper & rosemary fries for an appetizer. Rave reviews all around. The garbanzo and sweet potato soup was delicious. Our entrees included: pork tenderloin with grilled brussel sprouts & sweet potatoes; wild salmon; mac & cheese w/ grilled mushrooms; and vegetable soft tacos. We were passing plates plates all around because everyone wanted to taste what the others were oohing and aahing about. If your dining party has a broad range of preferences, particularly if they range to vegan, then you can't beat eating at the Owl House."

  • "The owl house was one of the first Gluten-Free restaurants that I found here in Rochester. I happened to stumble upon it and I've been going back ever since. They change their menu according to the seasons and the variety and specials are amazing. If you have to eat Gluten-Free or are Vegan, vegetarian of you just like great food, come here."

  • "What a fantastic find!! The Owl House is a converted house in the middle of a quite neighborhood street. Walking up to the porch and through the front door we were greeted by the bartender and asked if we would prefer inside or outside. We chose outside and were shown through the small dining room to the back yard. Cafe tables sat under patio umbrellas and a large open wooden gazebo. Various plants and flowers filled the yard. My husband and I each ordered the The Hot Beav Burger. A Chickpea, White Bean & Chipotle Patty with Sriracha Strawberry Jam, Mayo and Crispy Onions to top it off. So many flavors and just enough heat to keep it interesting. They offered a great beer selection but we chose the fresh squeezed lemonade."

  • "The old bay tempeh was the best sandwich I've ever had. It really was. And I'm not even vegan. I liked that they had a good mix of vegan and regular food. They had a small menu but that was understandable given the size of the place and its in a house. But all the items were interesting. I had a hard time deciding even amungst the 8 or so choices. I loved the music but it was just a little loud. The waiter was friendly albeit a little absent minded. But that's a small matter. The local art work on the wall.... From high school students was really fantastic. Comfortable and clean. I highly recommend."

  • "This was my first time at The Owl House. I am a Vegan and I found SEVERAL options to choose from! The seared tofu was amazing. Great ambience and great service. Would definitely go there again!"

  • "The food here was ok, the drinks were ok, and the service was acceptable. The menu was unexciting, especially for vegetarians/vegans. The dishes were what you could get at any restaurant with an option to substitute vegan ingredients. There was a typical breakfast, with bacon, toast, and eggs, with an option to sub in tofu scramble and fakin. My girlfriend got a salad, which she didnt particularly enjoy. The kale was extremely chewy, and the raw shaved brussell sprouts didn't help much. Also, the first drink she ordered, forgot the name but it was the one with hibiscus liquor was terrible. It tasted like medicine. They replaced it though, so that was very nice of them. The chicken and waffles was good, but the chicken was a bit too chewy"

  • "This was our first time at The Owl House. Food was excellent! I am typically a meat and potatoes guy, but decided to go for the full experience. My wife and I split the vegan crab cakes and I ordered the "Hot Beav Burger." I was quite impressed and have craved another one each day since!"

  • "Husband and went there for the first time on Friday. I started with the Elderflower Gimlet cocktail and my husband had the Port Of Call. For appetizer we shared the hard cider-battered tofu nuggets with a ginger sauce and pickled red cabbage. I ordered the braised beef Los Tacos with white bean salad for my main course and husband had the pork tenderloin with roasted carrots on a bed of brussel sprouts. We shared a vegan shortcake with fresh berries and cream for dessert. Everything we ate and drank was absolutely delicious!! The atmosphere was welcoming and our server was very friendly. I have been looking for a restaurant like this for a very long time and can't wait to go back!"

  • "Visiting Rochester for a wedding. It also happened to be our anniversary. Owl was recommended by a relative. Wonderful choice. Lovely outdoor setting. Very friendly, attentive service and the food was very original and delicious. Vegan offerings were over the top bursting with flavor. Meat and fish offerings also excellent. Chocolate avocado mouse was superb!"
