My husband, sister-in-law, and I enjoyed dinner here on Sat night. We made a 6pm reservation, but it wasn't necessary as the dining room was wide open when we arrived at 5:45. We did the whole nine yards, from cocktails (which were excellent), to appetizer (get the Buffalo cauliflower - it is amazing!), entrees, dessert and coffee (good, strong local brew). Fresh ingredients were used creatively with an artful but not fussy presentation. They also make a lot of effort to cater to all sorts of dietary preferences and restrictions. What really made the meal though was the pleasant, timely, unobtrusive but friendly service of our waitress. She kept everything moving smoothly, but allowed us enough space so we didn't feel rushed. Very pleased.

This place is beyond great for both vegetarian and carnivore options. Small plates are great for appetizers and perfect for sharing. Large plates and salads were excellent. The beer selection was unique and delicious! A must visit when in Rochester!!!!

The Owl House offers excellent service, food and atmosphere. We were impressed with everything, but especially the vegan options available for us to enjoy. The beer selection is fantastic too. What will keep us coming back, however, is the kind and attentive staff. Hostess, bar tender and waitress were similarly personable, thoughtful and accommodating. I'd recommend to both vegans and non vegans.

Love this place! If you are a vegan, vegetarian or low carb person (and even if you are none of the above) you are going to love this place. Lots of healthy fresh options. I've had the tofu nuggets, siracha cauliflower "wings," the watermelon salad and the pub steak. All were delicious as was the local wine selections. The only downside is street parking and this place is a little small so I would highly recommend making reservations. Haven't tried the brunch yet but will soon!

This was my first time at Owl House, and it did not disappoint! I am a meat eater, and there were plenty of options; in fact almost all of the menu items can be made with meat, vegetarian, vegan or gluten free. My daughter is a vegetarian, so we decided to have all vegetarian selections so we could share. We ordered the nachos with feta, scallions, eggplant puree, housemade kimchee and edamame for a starter. We each had a cocktail and both were delicious (Moscow Mule and Elderflower Gimlet). Our entrees included the summer pasta and a chickpea burger, both of which we devoured. We also had a reasonably priced ($25) nice bottle of cabernet with the meal. I highly recommend this establishment!

The Owl House experience was so satisfying from beginning to end. I can't say enough about the staff whose gracious manners and knowledge of the food just added to the lovely ambience of the night. The food was absolutely delicious, with both my friend and I starting out with the Olive Bowl which was raw vegetables (cabbage, pearl onions, carrots, califlower, etc. in a pickle type of brine that was so delicious that both of us would have gladly eaten bowl after bowl of it! We then both had the chickpee burgers with the side of field greens, hers the Classic, mine the B.V.E. with strawberry jam and sirracha sauce. The patties were moist and flavorful and we fell in love with our very first bites! We would eat there again in a heartbeat!

Corn on the Cobb was excellent. Salmon was a little overdone but tasty. Kale salad was fresh but kind of bland- needed something to zest it up a bit. Great service- too bad out door seating unavailable after sunset- no lights. Indoors windows closed with air conditioning :( what's wrong with fresh air?

I love dining at the Owl House and also dining with my 2.5 yr old son. He is well-behaved and is a great eater so I love taking him to fun places. We arrived at around 6:30 p.m. and the restaurant was not crowded at all which was great. The food was great and no kids' menu is ever needed for my lil guy so I was happy to share some tasty selections from my entree selection with him. Unfortunately where I was not pleased was with my waiter. I felt like he was judging me because I had a kid out on a Friday night and when I told him I was sharing food with my son, I feel like he immediately wrote me off as a cheap bill so I got sub-par service. Had he treated me like a regular patron I would have ordered more food and wine. bummer.

This was our first time dining at The Owl House and we will be coming back! Make reservations because even on a Tuesday night the restaurant filled fast - a testament to its local popularity. Vegetarians will enjoy this menu, but don't be afraid to bring along a few carnivores as most large plates have a meat option available. We began with a delectable vegetable chowdah with just the right amount of red pepper flake heat to make it interesting. We opted for their take on chickpea burgers - one classic, one B.V.E (with sriracha -strawberry jam) - both excellent. Housemade chips just right. Finished with a tasty vanilla-blueberry cake and coffee - yum! Full range of craft-beer styles & ABV %s. Wait staff superb!

The ambiance was nice until 8:30. I ate outside and there is not any outdoor lighting. By the time my food came out, I had to use the light from my phone to see my food. I got the summer pasta and it was ok, but I really was very salty. As a vegetarian I want to go back and give the restaurant a second chance because of all the vegetarian and vegan friendly options. But the first time around I really was not impressed.

My husband and I had our 20th anniversary dinner here the other night. Our first time visiting restaurant. Enjoyed experience very much. Walked in at 6:25 for our6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. Felt comfortable immediately. Waiter friendly, courteous, & helpful. My husband brews his own beer, so he was very interested in the very long beer menu. My salmon was good tasting, his scallops were delicious, & veggies very well prepared. We shared the vanilla blueberry cake, that easily served us both generously. It was an interesting mix of diners from Rochester area. We felt comfortable entire evening. We didn't want to rush, & weren't. Food & drinks well-timed as well. Looking forward to return with my daughter for lunch on patio!

I've been a fan of the Owl House for about 3 years. That's not to say that I haven't been disappointed. The food, at times, rivals the best I've ever had: vegan mac, cauliflower wings, curried carrot soup, flat bread with Daiya, red velvet truffles, just to name a few. Then I've had a few experiences that have left me wondering what happened to that amazing food from last time. The Cauli wings were delicious as was the special non alcoholic drink. However, the summer pasta with rainbow chard left much to be desired. The pasta was overcooked, and the chard well undercooked. The extreme differences in texture made for a tough chew. The olives overpowered the delicate pesto. The blueberry cake had an overwhelming after taste of uncooked flour.

We choose this for a special occasion and we hadn't been there before. The menu was interesting but our server was distracted and wasn't helpful explaining or suggesting. We had the vegan charcuterie platter and I had the oyster mushroom main course with the beet salad. It was just too strange. Odd plating, odd flavors. It was just not our cup of tea.

The food: excellent! They have great vegetarian fare, while maintaining a more limited but still delicious selection of meat-centric dishes. This was our 3rd time and we were not disappointed. The menu changes often, so check back - know you will not be disappointed on this front! The service this time was mediocre. We made reservations, and got stuck in a corner. Our waiter treated us like children.... feigning surprise when we ordered alcohol then scrutinizing our ID's, and finally a theatrical start when he saw my AMEX card. If someone makes a reservation don't stick them in a corner while the couple who didn't have one gets a nice outside (which we weren't offered.) Your food might bring us back, but your service won't!

I didn't see anything in the reviews about this being a Farm to Table concept. They totally deliver. Although not everything on the menu is locally harvested the important items are and it makes all the difference in the world. The Sushi was really great and we got there just before 6pm so we were able to enjoy the special. Finally, their mixologist put together a drink menu which had something for everyone. Highly recommended. The next time I am in town I will be bringing friends back to The Hamilton.
