  • "Overall, it was very good and very expensive. I was looking for something like Peerce's Plantation and the Oregon Grille is that place. We prefer tables to booths, so we had the entire converted porch next to Shawan Road to ourselves. It was fine until the sun set, then it was a bit dark for my old eyes. The piano was terrific, playing great tunes from yesteryear! Our server was responsive, lively and enthusiastic. We will certainly ask for her next time. The food was delicious, with only a couple of issues: I had to ask what was the Delmarva Filet - the menu doesn't give a hint as to whether it is meat, fowl or fish. I wish I had known there was peanut butter on the applecake, so I could asked to have it omitted or not have ordered it."

We knew we were not going to be "brunching" on Saturday when we arrived, but still I had thoughts of manufacturing something out of the menu to approach a brunch experience. We were greeting warmly with a cordial "your table is waiting" and when I mentioned that it was such a beautiful (read cool) July day that we'd really like to dine outside, without missing a beat the mater'd said "of course sir, right this way!" Our waitress(es) were pleasant and really worked well together to keep our glasses full and our questions answered. Our group trended toward seafood this day and everyone was very pleased. So with a bacon infused Bloody Mary, oysters Rockefeller and softshell crabs, my almost brunch was fantastic!"

  • "Headed to Hunt Valley shopping from PA. We were looking for a place to eat and the couple we were with mentioned the Oregon Grille. We made OpenTable reservations, not realizing that the restaurant required jackets for men. We arrived with our party and were quickly accommodated with an outdoor dinner option - no jackets required. Food was wonderful (thrilled to find the evening's special was soft shelled crabs!). Service was great and we just really enjoyed the outdoor venue. Very pleasant!"

  • "We were celebrating my Mother's birthday and requested to be seated out on the patio. Well it was a perfect summer night and the food and service went right along with it. Jen, our waitress, was simply wonderful and made the whole meal special for all of us. When my father's steak was a little overcooked she had a replacement in minutes. The soups, appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks were all delicious. A memorable night!"

  • "What a disappointing meal. Way overpriced menu for what you get. The Fried Calamari App. was barely enough for one person, not to mention it's $17.00 price. I have had better Calamari at half the price. We ordered one Steak Au Provue and one Cowboy Steak. The $53.00 House Best Steak was of excellent quality and cooked correctly, the $46.00 Cowboy Steak was terrible... a thin cut Rib Eye that was Chewy, not to mention it was laced with fat. How can one Steak be good, and the other Steak be a joke! Oregon Grille, you need to be more consistent with your food if you want to maintain your reputation."

  • "The evening started with soup. Crab, tomatoes, scallion bisque that was ok. Didn't really knock my socks off as it could have used more crab in it. The bread roll that was served was good tasting but chewy. The butter should be soft, not hard as it was served. The dinner entree was a dry aged grilled t-bone served with asparagus and fried grilled onion strings. The steak was terrific. Cooked to perfection and the asparagus was good to. I just wish there was seasoning on the asparagus. The onion rings are really something that they consider getting rid of. A baked potato should be standard for the kind of coin you are dolling out. The wine was excellent, waiter was terrific and overall, it was a very pleasurable dining experience."

  • " I asked management, when I made my OpenTable reservation, if they might find a quiet corner for a reservation for 8, so that my business associate and I could meet with principals of a business that we wanted to get to know better. OG put us in a private room, where we were very well attended by a waiter, who was attentive but not intrusive. The setting was perfect. The food was delicious. Everyone was pleased with what they ordered. It was a very successful an enjoyable evening."

  • "My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. Between the fountain as you walk in, the flowers and shrubbery, the cascading mini waterfall down pieces of wood, and the incredible service, my birthday couldn't have been celebrated any better. The restaurant was so accommodating when I asked to move to a table closer to the wood waterfall and when I asked to change one of the sauces in a dish. The chef made a fresh cream sauce for me and genuinely cared if I liked it. The waitress was just wonderful; we didn't ask for anything special for my birthday except for a nice table, and she herself brought out a mango sorbet dessert with candle. Perfection! We loved every little bit of our experience."

  • "The ambience of the Oregon Grille is exceptional. Our waiter was exceedingly informative and attentive. We started with a gin and tonic each…the smallest G & T ever! My husband ordered the filet, asparagus and baked potato. All were wonderful and the side dishes are easily share-able. I ordered the seafood bruschetta appetizer and the soft crab dinner, one of the evenings specials. The appetizer was just ok - the strong cheese overpowered the crab meat. The soft crabs were served over a bed of angel hair zucchini. The crabs were average size but were a bit on the crunchy side indicating to be that they were moving toward the hard crab phase! Total bill before tip - $148!!"

  • "We did not realize we needed to wear jackets after 5PM. Coming from a long day on the lacrosse fields (we were showered and otherwise dressed appropriately) we just wanted to get some beef into the boys. We asked if we could be seated at a table in the bar area. You would have thought we were slobs by the look on the face of the host. And we go into the bar area and we were dressed as nicely as anyone else. Lighten up man! And when you tell the waiter someone has a gluten allergy that means you should make sure nothing comes his way with gluten in it. Even so, the plate came with "onion crisps" which we were told are covered with flour before frying. Get a grip on it! Otherwise the steaks and prime rib were very good. We'll be back!"

As a horse lover and the daughter of a former steeple chase jockey and thoroughbred race horse trainer......I revisit those memories there. What a classy place. Love it. Can't say enough good things about Oregon Grill."

  • "In the past our favorite restaurant was the 70's "Orchard Inn" in Towson, MD. We were sad they closed. We had heard Ron Smith many times on his radio talk show highly recommend "The Oregon Grille" as his favorite restaurant in the Baltimore, MD area. After having lunch there this past week on our 44th wedding anniversary (6-12-14), we fell in love with this place and agree with Ron Smith's assessment. We plan to go again for an evening dinner experience after we return from our summer missions' endeavors to the Fiji Islands in September. We left the Oregon Grille excited about the experience. We have already mentioned this to several of our friends."

  • "We made reservations for party of four and when we arrived, there was no maitre'd to greet us. We had to flag down a waiter. Finally seated next to the piano player. At a pricey $75 pp we expected better service. Dirty dishes sat at our table long after we were finished. When the waiter finally took the dishes, he proceeded to stack them in front of us on our table-tacky. The busboy serving and refilling our water glasses should be promoted to waiter. He was the only prompt and caring person there. My $7 baked potato got cold waiting for the butter that finally arrived frozen. Way too much spinach on the oysters rockefeller. Onion straws with almost every entree-no choice. My filet mignon was tasty but super dry-not juicy."

  • "Our group of 6 dined in the outdoor dining area and the weather was excellent. However, our table was partially affected by the setting sun in the eyes of several of us starting at 6pm. Our waiter was able to move us to another table which was OK for awhile, but the sun again did affect us at about 7-7:30pm. Other than that the evening was a delight with very good food, service and all our requests were honored. We have dined at Oregon Grille many times and always look forward to our next visit."

  • "Always a special place to dress up, spend some $$$$, but be assured of a great meal-turned into a nightmare Sat. nite. The trifecta: bad drink, bad food, slow/apologetic service w/a $470 tab - 4 on the patio. Melted down drinks = 1/2 hr; 12 more mins to take an order. No bread - to offset the cocktails / long delay. Timing improved-food disappointed. Not local/fresh? Watery gazpacho-frozen-thawed? 3 yr old aged goat cheese/tom. salad-prepped amateurish w/unripened tomatoes-nothing special; crab cakes-tasteless w/ no seasoning? rock fish smelled fishy/was chewy (the side hash/salsa was delicious). Waitress apologized yet offered no corrections/adjustments. Extremely disappointing. Hard pressed to come back - once a favorite spot (from PA)"

  • "I recently went to the Oregon Grille with my husband and son for a special night out. We are semi-regulars and so know what to expect in terms of the quality of food, etc. But one thing made this visit extraordinary -- our server. I wish I had gotten the spelling of his name - Nadis? We have never had a better server! While the front of the house can feel a little "chilly" at times, the gentleman who served us was warm and funny and respectful. And he understood perfectly when to approach the table and when to leave us to our conversation. Not absent but not intrusive. Nothing to say, but just a really, really great guy. Even if the food wasn't as incredible as it is, we would return purely for the enjoyment of Nadis' service! Bravo!"

  • "I've lived in the area all my life and have enjoyed the Oregon Grille for many years. The food is normally delicious with top notch service. After visiting the Grille twice within the past two weeks in hopes of enjoying fine food in an outdoor setting, once for lunch and one time for dinner, the service left a lot to be desired. It began on both occasions by checking in with the host indoors. We were taken to our table outside without being provided menus. Apparently this task is left to the servers outside. We sat for nearly 15 min before we were offered a menu or given water. Dinner had to be sent back as it was not prepared as described on the menu (returned 20 min later). We were not offered dessert and simply handed our check. "

  • "Went because heard the aged sirloin was 'one of the best'. We arrived, and decided to eat in the courtyard; beautiful night out. That may have been a mistake, because the service was terrible. We explained to the server that we were famished; and the bread arrived right away. However, it took an hour for our appetizers to arrive. She claimed that the 'crispy duck' we ordered took a long time. Then our entrees arrived. It was one of the toughest steaks I have had in a long time. I often buy dry aged sirloin, and know how tender it is suppose to be. This seemed like they substituted a different steak. We will likely return to eat in the courtyard again because it is such a nice ambience, but will not be ordering any steak or crispy duck. "

  • "So sad not to recommend. Lovely venue. Food was good, not great, but the service ruined the evening. Went on our anniversary. Our server NEVER checked on us once our food was served. No one asked if our dinners were ok. Our water glasses were never re-filled. We were never asked if we wanted an additional cocktail or glass of wine. We had to ask another server for a box for leftovers and, even then, our server continued to pass by without comment. We left The Grille before we normally would have - which cost the restaurant in terms of additional cocktails and dessert. There was definitely an uncaring atmosphere. The table next to us sent two of their four dinners back to the kitchen. Definitely not the special restaurant that's advertised. "

  • "The Oregon Grille has been a favorite restaurant for over 20 years. The last two times I went there for lunch, for special occasions, I have had very bad experiences. I am not inclined to return. The food was poor. This last visit, I ordered seared tuna medium rare and it was overcooked and dry and chewy and tasteless. I brought back a $22 salad for my Assistant, which has a teeny tiny container of crab (& was a very small salad)."

  • "Over priced and over rated. Nice atmosphere with an ultra premium price. The food did not live up to expectations. They can still cook a darn good steak, and also did well on the soft shell crab but missed the mark elsewhere. The veal medallion special was well cooked, but overpowered by the mozzarella. The rockfish was mushy, overcooked, and overwhelmed by cumin. The lobster in the surf and turf was overdone. The Oysters Rock was overpowered by creamed spinach with way too much heavy cream. Desserts were rather mediocre except the raspberry sorbet which was clean and fresh. At 1/3 the price of what this restaurant charges, ok, but when you are paying for wow and getting meh, it is disappointing to say the least. "

  • "We keep going back to the Oregon Grill hoping each time the service on the previous visit was not the norm. However, the service gets worse with every visit. I think the problem is the "regulars" are seated in the main section of the dining room while the non-regular customers are shuffled out to the front porch where they are forgotten. We, and the other guests on the porch waited for everything. We had to ask for a wine list, water, bread. Our waiter kept disappearing all night for long stretches of time. At the end of the evening we waited so long to pay our check that we had to track him down just to leave. Go for the food it's fantastic but don't expect to receive even mediocre service. Be sure to stay off of the front porch."
