We love this restaurant. On the night we visited we shared an order of sausage stuff mushroom caps, my husband had the blackened salmon and I had the crab cake. The portions were generous and the salmon was cooked to order. The owner stopped by to check on us and the waitress was pleasant and attentive. I only wish they were open until at least 9 p.m.

This is not a super fancy place but it still manages to have very nice ambiance. We enjoyed the piano player and candles on the table. My glass of wine was a generous serving. The twice-baked potatoes came out lukewarm, but the waiter quickly had them warmed up. The blueberry/lemon curd cake was amazing. A nice spot to have a dinner date with my husband!

Usually have no complaints about service but this time the service was sadly lacking. Brought rolls but no bread and butter plates. Had to ask for them. Took a long time to have server take our order. Took a very long time to get drinks, they explained there was no bartender on at the time. Also waited very long for food to be served.

This was our second time at Open Door and a much less pleasant experience than the first. The food and service were OK, but not long after we sat down, a young woman began wailing ("singing") and accompanying herself on a guitar. The dining room here is pretty small (excluding the party room at the rear) so there was no escape from this unpleasant noise. We were unable to carry on a nice conversation, so all we could do was eat. Music in a restaurant is vastly overrated (and I am a music lover).

We went to the Open Door Cafe because it had gotten great reviews online. While the restaurant looked great, the food was extremely bland. We started with the Whiskey Shrimp which was a flavorless shrimp scampi on grilled bread. My husband had the Smokehouse Burger and I had the Rib-eye. The burger was fine, nothing that we couldn't have gotten any where else. The Rib-eye was so full of fat that I only ate about 3 bites before giving up. It came with a tiny twice-baked potato that had a weird sweet flavor that was off-putting. Maybe their breakfast and lunch offerings are amazing, I don't know. We only went for dinner and will not be going back.

Our first encounter with Open Door was on a Tuesday night, and, apart from a private party in another room, there were but a few of us in the restaurant. We shall return. I had one of the best ribeye steaks ever, at a modest price. The "pear and bleu" salad could become a local classic. My wife's crabcake suited her quite well. In an area (Bel Air) previously devoid of genuine (i.e., non-chain) restaurants, Open Door makes a welcome third entry to the list.

My friends and I heard about a muralist named Nancy Maher and we wanted to see her art work. We were told she did the interior walls of the Open Door Cafe, and also that the food there is very good (Nancy told me that when I contacted her). We were happily surprised with both the food and the art. Interesting menu, excellent and attentive service. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a good meal and a gentle ambience.

The food at open door cafe was amazing!! Everything was delicious and I didn't want to finish the last bite because that would mean that there was no more delicious taste. The cream of crab soup is the best I've had. Truly a gem in the community. Our waiter was very kind and was knowledgeable about the selections, pairings, & offerings.

We were a party of four for dinner and when we arrived were seated promptly by our very friendly waitress. We had the Crab Mac & Cheese, a cheeseburger with fries, Chicken Marsala and a Chicken Caesar Wrap. The mac & cheese and wrap came with a side salad with a very tasty house dressing. We ordered three desserts to share; raspberry creme brulee, vanilla caramel crunch cake, and a carrot cake bread pudding which was out of this world! It was very dense and rich. The creme brulee was creamy and the vanilla cake was moist with just the right amount of crunch in the caramel, as the name suggests. Overall we were very pleased with the prompt and friendly service, delicious food and the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant. We will return.

The food is simply outstanding! I am on a restricted diet, and was able to wholly enjoy their grilled blackened mahi mahi with steamed veggies and mashed sweet potatoes with absolutely no guilt!! I did cheat with just one of their fresh baked rolls- awesome! It wasn't packed, although it was very busy, on a Saturday night in BelAir, which is a miracle and can only be because its a newer place and word is not out yet. Nice that they do take reservations, again rare in crazy BelAir where there's a long wait almost anywhere you go on a Friday or Saturday. And there was live music, also a plus! I can't wait to go back and try one of their chai teas, which I understand are also terrific. Next time I'm in Bel Air at lunchtime, I'm there!
