A word from The Only on King
The Only On King opened its doors in the heart of historic downtown London, a stone’s throw from Budweiser Gardens and the Covent Garden Market where the casual dining restaurant sources most of its fresh ingredients.


Chef Paul Harding is serving sophisticated but approachable French and Italian cuisine.


The menu, which also features ingredients purchased from local southwestern Ontario farmers, boasts several dishes that are priced $29 or less.


Located in a historic building and former dairy on King Street, the restaurant is a relaxing, warm and inviting space to enjoy an inspired meal and the company of family and friends.


The intimate dining room, which features photographs of historic London, is a true gem for the city’s restaurant-goers.

  • "Every single time we eat at The Only on King we leave even more impressed than the last. Chef Harding put together some tremendously delicious items on their Dine Out London price fixe menu. We started with a beet salad and ravioli doppi ( mushroom and goat cheese); followed by chicken schnitzel and duck confit; finalized with sticky toffee and semi freddo. Scott and the front of house team did a superb job with service -- second to none. And fun cocktails! I recommend The Only on King for any occasion - a romantic dinner or a celebration for 20 (which we have done in the past 2 months). Service is excellent, food is delicious, price is just right and you will only leave asking yourself when is too soon to come back for more. Enjoy!!"

My main was duck confit which was perfectly cooked and very delicious. My wife had the beet salad and beef pot pie which she was very happy with. The Only never disappoints."

It did not disappoint - great atmosphere, excellent service from a recent transplant from NYC and lovely food and cocktails. Full marks. We will be back!"

  • "I recently visited for a Mother/Daughters girls night out. The food was exceptional from the bread basket to the delicious desserts. The three of us all ordered a different appetizer, entree and dessert and sampled each others food. Everything except the potato wedges served with the duck was delicious. The potatoes were underecooked, but we overlooked that because everything else was sooo tasty. We will come back."

  • "This was my first visit to The Only on King. The service was outstanding and attentive. The wine list is over priced. The food was delicious and well prepared. The portions were moderate. They were very accommodating to my friend's special requests to sub out leeks in a dish as she abhors them, so she was still able to enjoy the halibut, but with an alternate side. My steak was well prepared. The sticky toffee pudding was disappointingly pedestrian--nothing to rave about. Not a place to eat if you are on a budget. Save for that special occasion."

  • "I heard only 4 to 5 star things about this restaurant so was dissappointed After a romantic dinner for two with my wife. I will not be going back.First off I think we had a training waiter which is OK as long as he is supervised. Unfortunately he was not. I ordered a glass of red wine (which was overpriced for a glass) and received a half glass of wine that was undrinkable as it had oxidized and tasted like vinegar. I did have to send it back. The food was average!! Just plain average which was dissappointing after the reviews of this place. I had the venicine steak which was good. The potatoes that came with the meal were not edible. Ambience is hum drum and plain. It wasn`t bad. It just didnt live up to the expectations."

  • "Myself and 3 others had reservations for the early seating on New Years Eve. The server was very knowledgable and gave us plenty of time to visit without hovering, but was attentive at the same time. The appetizer (artichoke soup) was a little bland but the bacon and poached quail egg made up for it. The beet and blood orange salad was phenomenal and the other starter (foie gras parfait) was generous (although I did not try it). The mains were very well done, although it lacked a bit of inspiration. My dining partner wished there were more sides (veg) with his steak. The chocolate dessert (had by all) was extremely well done. All in all it was a great dining experience - I'd say a 8.5/10! Thanks for a wonderful evening!"

The duck is always great no matter the preparation. Love the focus on quality organic and local sourcing of ingredients and that you can always find out exactly where your food came from.   • "My husband & I dined here for the first time this past Friday evening. We had been told by everyone that it's a great spot and we were so pleased to find that to be true. It's a terrific spot and we will definitely go again. We thoroughly enjoyed the Porterhouse for 2 and took home enough for lunch today. This makes that meal quite a bargain. Our server was perfect and answered every question we asked without delay. The Only presented us with the best meal we've had in a restaurant in years."

  • "The restaurant is small - maybe 20 seats but very cozy setting with wood floors, bar. Empasis on local foods and their suppliers. Some good craft beers. Wine list OK. The menu changes regularly and they identify the supplier with the dishes. The charcuterie was excellent, and plenty for sharing. Also a good salad with poached pear filled with goat cheese. Halibut on a risotto was very tasty. The service was just right; the noise level increased as the place filled up, but it was still easy to have a good conversation."

  • "Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and the food was great! We had the pizza fritta, flank steak, and a side of brussel sprouts. We also had wine and muskoka beer. All very delicious. From a customer service perspective, we were offered a drink while we waited for our table and the server took our coats to hang which was nice. However, the servers needed to be prompted to offer us drinks, take our coats, and then to say goodbye as we were leaving. Our server for dinner could have provided a recommended dish or two, as well as some great drinks to try. We had never been there before so that would have been nice. I also didn't enjoy how incredibly loud it was in the restaurant. Very difficult to have a conversation."

  • "Our waiter was great - he was happy to answer any questions we had about the menu and make recommendations. We followed a few of his recommendations and he was right every time! Great experience. If you like it a bit quieter, I recommend going earlier. We had a reservation at 6:30 and it wasn't really noisy. By about 8pm, it started getting a bit louder. It still wasn't bad, just louder than it had been."

The staff know their menu and offer some of their own favourites. The kitchen staff were very accommodating to our special requests. Our meal was prepared and presented very nicely and was very good. This is a restaurant I would recommend to enjoy a quiet evening with friends, good food and great service."
