A word from The Oliver Wight Tavern
Sitting just outside the Visitor Center entrance to Old Sturbridge Village is a modern adaptation of an 1830s rural New England tavern. The Oliver Wight Tavern seats more than 300 patrons in four distinct dining rooms, reflecting the atmosphere, décor, and social functions of a country tavern's public gathering places. Located at the threshold of New England's largest living history museum, the Oliver Wight Tavern at Old Sturbridge Village presents the foodways, receipts (recipes), furnishings, ambiance, and community spirit of a "licensed house" that provided early New Englanders with a world of information, entertainment, recreation, socialization, citizenship, and great Yankee dining!

We met our travel group in Sturbridge which is centrally located for our Ma, NH and CT friends. It was a great place to chat, take a picture in front of the fireplace and meet and greet in the large foyer. My only complaint would be a need for eye-appealing desserts. The food was fresh and good, the price reasonable and the service by Shane, outstanding.

We met for a birthday celebration. It was a little difficult to visit in the main room as the noise level is higher then the smaller room. The food was delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. This is a great place to eat. Bring your own tea bag if you want caffeine. Only have de-caffinated tea bags which is a little strange. The ham is fabulous!!

I brunched here with several friends. We all agreed it was a good experience. The service was great and food was good. We were able to spend much time visiting which was great since it had been many years since some of us had seen each other. We all had a great time and would definitely return for more.

Was a wonderful experience. Great place to meet friend we hadn't seen for a while. Was a good central meeting place...they came from Ct and N H. Food was good. I go there quite often, maybe a change of food would be nice. Quality of food was very good. Was very busy, back-up of people at times at some of the stations.

We recently visited the Oliver Wright Tavern for brunch with our two young children (6 and 8). Overall the experience was good, and the food selection is also good. Children under 10 eat for free, and there are plenty of "kid friendly" options, our children really liked the place. For the adunts in our party, the impressions were mixed. While some food items were very good, the omlettes, and Belgiam waffles come to mind, most of the selections were strictly middle of the road, while other areas were definately lacking. Several of the bakery items had a distinct "just baught at the local wholesale club" feel. The bagels in particular were lacking in quality. The price is good, though we would gladly pay more for a tic up in overall quality.

My family of three had Sunday brunch at the Oliver Wight Tavern. Though we were seated promptly upon arrival, we had to wait and wait for a server to come by for our drink orders. When our drinks finally did arrive, the order was incorrect and had to be sent back. We didn't order anything complicated either - just coffee, juice, and water. Our plates sat stacked up and it took a long time for us to check out. The food was great and included an omelet station, waffles, breakfast meats, luncheon fare, desserts, and much more. We all had several helpings. Kids under 10 are free and Old Sturbridge Village members get a discount. Service aside, we do recommend this restaurant and plan to return. We hope that the poor service was fluke.

We enjoyed our Sunday brunch. The 6 of us all found different foods to enjoy from the buffet....omelettes, salads, entrees like baked ziti, seafood Alfredo, etc., waffles ( not so great but good toppings...esp. for kids), bacon, sausages, scones, fruit, etc. Usual buffet/brunch foods-- nothing outstanding. Server obviously had served parties like us a thousand times---it showed...refills on coffee had to be asked for and the bill came before we had finished. Noise level was very distracting.

We've been here for brunch 2x, Sturbridge being 1/2 way between family in Boston & in Lenox. The food selections are extensive, but adequate, brunch fare; I was stunned to find that there's an extra charge for juice. Our waitress was very nice; she remembered us from the previous time that we'd been here. No ambiance - the dining room is Spartan, in keeping with the old Sturbridge theme, I imagine. The noise level is so high that it's almost impossible to talk with tablemates because there's no sound insulation, and because even quite young children are welcome - not that they shouldn't be, but they're noisy. Will we return, possibly, because there are few alternatives.

I don't believe a 18% gratuity added to the bill is appropriate for a buffet. The level of service was excellent but nowhere near the full service of a dinner.

We love Sunday breakfast. This was a special treat to have so many delicious choices. The wait servers were attentive and service excellent. You could be weight watching with a full salad bar to traditional breakfast offerings. There was a carving station with fresh meat and a dessert station to cap off the brunch. We can't wait to go again.

The food was excellent, but the bread was bigger than the chicken. The service was terrible. The waiters and waitresses were fighting among themselves, disappeared for long periods of time. We had to go up to the bar and get our drinks. It took almost 2 hours to have lunch.

My lunch with my family (small child included) was excellent. The service was wonderful, the food was very good and priced right for a lunch. I had a reservation but due to the heat on the day that I traveled there, it was not necessary but coming in from the heat to have a meal in the A/C was wonderful. I really enjoyed the salads and the fresh ingredients. The cheese plate was a little pricey but well worththe sampling! Highly recommended

We were there on the Fourth of July, celebrating a friend becoming a citizen of the USA. Honestly, they could have served us peanut butter sandwiches and that would not damper the mood. Two of us had salads for dinner, two had fish and chips, one had a burger. If you like that type of food, (fast food in a nice setting) you are good to go. We ordered a bottle of wine from the ho-hum wine list. I just don't believe this location could support a stellar cellar. Two of us tried draft beer, always a decent choice...they had a few nice beers on tap! For foodies? No. But a good lunch at a decent price given the location / setting.

After walking around Old Sturbridge Village for 3 hours it was good to sit in the restaurant and enjoy a nice meal of more than just sandwiches. The appetizers were tasty as well as the meals and the nice fresh bread and whipped butter. The salad green were fresh and plentiful also. The young waiter was slow and forgetful but an older woman picked up the slack with a smile and energy.

We had late reservation of 1:45, last booking was 2 pm, we were seated at 1:55 pm. After asking, we were told that food would be replenished as long as it lasted in the kitchen and as long as customers were present. Dessert table, scrambled eggs, bacon, and fresh fruit platters were constantly replenished. Drink order initially taken quickly; coffee refills very slow, even to the point of looking for our own carafe of coffee at servers' station. No eggbeaters, since "our order hadn't come in", but attempted to make egg white omelet from whole eggs twice. Unfortunately, the first time it was burned beyond use, the second time burned, but only about 25%, so sort of edible. Turkey at carving station dry and 'not edible, didn't try ham.

I took my family for Father's Day Brunch. We were seated on time and the waitress introduced herself & brought us our drinks. The buffet was just all right however, lots of food needed replenishing and had to make several trips back to seek other food items. Sometimes we got them, sometimes we didn't. Very understaffed and no one wanted to bus tables. Our gracious waitress never came back to refill our drinks until my husband flagged her down. We ordered mimosas but couldn't taste the champagne. Had we known that we would have ordered just orange juice at the orange juice price instead of at the steep $8 mimosa price. Contention between the staff was obvious and they grumbled to each other just 3 feet away from us...

This brunch was one of the best ever. It was clearly a $100/person brunch for $19.95. We live in the area and did not have a clue. The whole family loved it and would return frequently. The only detail which would have made it over the top would be if there had been fresh squeezed orange juice.

What a great time! I have eaten here before, but it's clear that the new manager has made some fantastic changes. The menu is new and excellent, the wine list is now the best in the area, the food and service were outstanding, the tavern has been spruced up, but still retains its wonderful historic ambience, and the entire staff just seemed happy to be there and happy that I was there. Bringing unsuspecting guests to Old Sturbridge Village for a fine lunch is a real treat. Rolling up the winding driveway I always get the same reaction: "What are we doing here? I thought we were going to lunch." I'm always amazed at how few people know that there's also a lovely restaurant here, and now I can say that it's also a great restaurant.
