My wife and I have dined at the Old Warsaw on several anniversaries. The food is always very good, the ambiance is romantic, service is very good, and we enjoy the strolling violinist and the accompanying pianist. It is nice to dine in a fairly quiet atmosphere without televisions everywhere you look.

I have been travelling to Dallas for years on business and have seen advertisements for The Old Warsaw. It is in a great location, the staff was outstanding and the food was good. The problem is, the place is "tired". Upon valeting my car, my first impression was "where is everybody?". My next impression, upon entering was "this place smells like my 97 year old grandmothers" parlor. You know what I'm talking about. I would go back, but only after a total renovation.

The food here is, by design, very traditional and it is a gem for that reason. Mostly very well executed. It is the best place in town to have old school gourmet food (think beef wellington and lobster thermador) and the fixed price menus are a value. The service was underwhelming and understaffed. The wine list was heavily weighted towards $90+ but unexceptional wines and the cocktail offerings were somewhat disappointing - probably could find better at a biker bar. In all, this is a history lesson well worth visiting, but, other than the food itself, it seriously needs refreshing and a lot more attention to detail. I hate to see such potential go wanting. They spend a lot of money on advertising, but just don't deliver the promise.

I took a friend of mine who was visiting from Tennessee to Old Warsaw for the unique experience and she loved it. Al is always great and welcomes all his customers as he has for years and never forgets who you are. I loved the violinist and pianist was so great as usual and contributes to the unique ambiance. It's the details and ambiance that make The Old Warsaw stand out about the rest in service by Al and his team of gentleman. I think these little details have made the Old Warsaw one of the most unique restaurants in Dallas for years. I had smoked Salmon appetizer, Caesar salad, my favorite course chateaubriand

They seemed surprised we had a reservation. Too awhile to get seated even though plenty of open tables. Never asked if we wanted a second drink even though we were there 1 1/2 hours. Waiter forgot the baked potatoe. When I asked about it he barked "it's coming.". It never came and he wouldn't make eye contact. Good food, good music, but for the money, service was like a Taco Bell. Too many good restaurants in Dallas to waste time here.

Went for my girlfriend's bday and it was a great time. The service was wonderful and the waiter had a great sense of humor. I had the Ribeye and it was very flavorful. My girlfriend had the lamb chops and it also had a ton of flavor. We both thought the Ribeye was better though.

I call it like I see it ... This is one of those places you just have to try on your own. Just too say you been there. It's really not a bad. They try to be romantic. It's a little pricey maybe because of the location, maybe because of the wait staff that are wearing tuxedos, or the pianist or violinist on site . Who knows ? The food was okay. The bread server was nice. The waiter was not on the same page, didn't recommend anything even though we asked. Expect to stay here a good 2 hours. Coffee is not on the house if you want it with your desert. No complaints ... wasn't all that impressed. Don't over dress. Everyone is right the place smells funny, but it's an old building (what do you expect). Hope this helps.

We truly enjoyed our dinner at Old Warsaw. Since it was a birthday for my fiancé, I was expecting perhaps a comment or maybe even a special dessert but got neither. That did not take away from the fabulous food. He had a steak, and I had sea bass. The caesar salad was decadent and one of the best i ever tasted. We also had the soufflé and tres leches for dessert. They were also delicious. The piano player was wonderful and added immeasurably to the atmosphere. We had 6:30 reservations on a Tuesday night and found the restaurant very quiet without many patrons.

As a young married couple without children we like to try new places and especially on our anniversary. We showed up and our first impression was that we would be the youngest people in the restaurant. The food was delicious, but it is definitely not the restaurant that is set up for the younger crowd. (Mid 20s-30's). It was almost too quiet.

This restaurant accepted reservations from individual parties on the same night they had a group of 120 people. We brought family visiting from out of town to the Old Warsaw to celebrate a birthday. They sat us in a small space off the main dinning room yet the whole main dining room was empty. We had told our guests about the music and ambience and were excited to share the experience. 30 minutes into our seating this large group showed up. The music was muffled by the load voices, a speech started and the service at our tables and others in this smaller dining area suffered. The restaurant should not have booked individual parties this night. They never warned us to offer the opportunity to book another night. Will not return.

We took my parents here for their 50th anniversary. Our table of 6 was in awe all night with the food, the service, and the ambiance. The food was superb, and it's so wonderful to actually receive a steak cooked like you ordered it. The restaurant is as it advertises itself, old style quality and service. The restaurant was very quiet and we could actually have a conversation with each other without yelling which is rare these days in new, trendy restaurants. Staff was very attentive without being overbearing, and the live pianist and violinist topped off our experience. Thanks for making my parents anniversary extra special!

I appreciate traditional, old school and classic, but this is just old. The public's palate and culinary sophistication has grown in the last 2 decades. Old Warsaw has not grown. Service was spotty, at times though not busy, it felt we were either forgotten or were being ignored. Today's wine lists should contain a wide variety of "by the glass" choices along with a variety of price points. I hope Old Warsaw will engage a consultant to bring this landmark restaurant back to where it belongs. Otherwise it will soon be a memory like the Riviera.

The server came back to our table about 15 minutes after we ordered to tell my wife that there was no more crab (@7:30pm on a Fri) and that they'd be putting shrimp in her appetizer instead. About 20 minutes later he came back to the table to tell her she would be getting a crabcake instead. She wasn't thrilled but was okay with this. 45 minutes after that when the apps finally arrived they gave me the original dish she ordered (with shrimp), and gave her a crab cake (my appetizer never came... and on a side note the fact that I got hers was a blessing in disguise because the menu failed to mention that this dish is covered with mangos, to which my wife is VERY alergic). The entree was delicious, and dessert was average. Disapointed...

For years we had heard about this Dallas restaurant and we decided to go there on our anniversary. First, there were very few wines available by the glass. After looking at the wine list but then declining to order a bottle of wine, the waiter seemed put off. Not off to a good start. The lobster bisque was unusual (and yes, we've had lobster bisque before). My wife ordered a filet; I ordered the peppercorn New York steak. Both entrees were good but not exceptional. The sides (roasted mushrooms and mashed potatoes) had too much garlic. We were disappointed with Old Warsaw. Our experience did not meet our expectations. (On a positive note: the solo violinist was charming and enjoyable. A nice touch)

My husband and I took friends to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. We love the ambience there, particularly the music. The pianist and violinist are excellent and very accommodating to special requests and acknowledging special occasions. There is an elegance rarely found anymore. Our disappointment this time was the food. One entree was not edible, but was returned to kitchen and replaced when we made the server aware. The souffles were okay, but not wonderful. We didn't find the food up to the standard we have experienced there before.

I have been dining at this restaurant, a couple of times per year, for over 20 years. I am going to take a wild guess that the chef was not there this time. My steak and lobster should not have been served. The poor quality rib-eye would have been culled by a good chef. It was served medium-well, rather than medium -rare, as I ordered, and the lobster was over-cooked to a hard rubbery state. This is the first time the food quality was anything but superb, so I am not writing them off, yet. Everything else about the restaurant was excellent.

My wife and I visited the Old Warsaw for our anniversary. My bone in ribeye was exceptional as a prime steak should be. My wife had the lobster which also was wonderful. The service was very attentive on a slow night but just a little clumsy. My only complaint was the dessert. We both had crème brulee that looked and tasted like it came out of the freezer section at Wal Mart. With the noted exception everything still met our very high expectations but at the end of the day no meal should cost this much. It is hard to beat the quality of the meal but there are better values out there.

This is basically a Lubys with a nice fish tank. This restaurant is cutting so many corners to try to save money that I don't think you can call it "fine" dinning anymore. I am pretty sure the wine was mixed with Apple Juice, the soup tasted like it was out of a can, the fish had more of a frozen spoiled flavor then even Red Lobster, and the dessert was probably purchased fromAlbertsons that day. Horrible experience and the wait staff needs to watch the food network once in their lives to see how you are supposed to act at a restaurant that doesn't have a drive thru. This business acts like it wants to be out of business, so I say help them by not going.

The food was good but the atmosphere made me feel like I was in a funneral home. This place is great for an older crowd but not a younger crowd. Can't say it's romantic or even give it any of the above options. Just overall was not impressed. I thought it was a nice touch when the violinist came to each table and asked each patron what song they would like him to play. Even though we where a same sex couple and seeing how we where skipped over for people who came in after us. The other thing I found disappointing that the ladies of the couple where getting a rose and not us. Fair warning to all resturants times are changing if your going to do something like that you need to offer it to all couples in general regardless of their sex.

We were less that impressed. Waiter hardly said hello when he finally arrived at the table he did not ask for our order, drinks, etc., simply stood there, could not answer simple questions about ingredients (perhaps a language barrier issue) and did not seem to want to bother the chef. He forgot my husbands before dinner drink until our appetizers had arrived and we never received the glass of wine we ordered. Dessert looked store-bought. Restaurant was half empty on a Saturday night, but staff seemed rushed. Music was very nice. A little awkward that the violinist standing at your table to play a song and there are 4 cameras recording you from the stage. Waited a half hour for our check. No fine dining service here. We won't be back.

It's too bad I never visited Old Warsaw when it was "special". I say that because service aside, we generally go out to dinner for the food, and the food was decidedly not special during our recent visit. Was it bad?...no. Was it good?...maybe. Was it special?...no way. My salad with apples and walnuts could easily have come out of my own refrigerator...easily. And while I couldn't have done Beef Wellington at home, I could have done something that would motivated me to eat the whole thing, while sadly, in this case I left half of the modest portion on the plate. The most memorable thing they served were the fresh, warm rolls, which were excellent and very enjoyable. Just not $270+ enjoyable (with a modest bottle of red).
