Two of us dined here for dinner on a Monday night. We enjoyed our meals. They have both à la carte and fixed price menu options. We each had salads, steaks and desserts. Our favorite part of the meal were the chocolate soufflés. Staff was friendly and prices reasonable.

Just say NO. Despite having a large waitstaff, the service was very poor. The steak was tough and gristly, the crab was not fresh, and tasted like it was “off.” As to presentation , the presentation at Denny’s is better. The cakes were stale. Then, came the piano player, which was completely unnecessary, and he was so loud that it became impossible to carry on a conversation. The restaurant itself is small and dingy. It was just an all-round bad experience.

I love a steakhouse and especially one with history and ambience. But the service here was atrocious and though 90% of the food was really great the frozen mashed potato patty and the dried out Black Forest cake became memorable. The attitude of our male server was reminiscent of an SNL skit.

This place is amazing and Al the owner will treat you like family and a special guest. Food is outstanding and never fails to impress. Best steaks I have ever had in my entire life. Pepper steak was out of this world. The soufflé for desert is the best desert that I have ever had at a restaurant. They are all good but the chocolate is the best as they make it right at your table. This is a first class restaurant and my opinion the best in Dallas. Great piano player as well.

This place is a gem if you want a quiet dinner. The Prix Fixe Menu is a FANTASTIC deal! We had appetizers, main course with veggies included, and dessert for much less than even a chain steakhouse. Wine by the glass was also priced competitively. More importantly, the food was all yummy! Wait staff was friendly and attentive. If you've never tried this place, or haven't been there for years, I highly recommend that you check it out!

Staff was rude; called to let them know we would be about 10 minutes late. The host was extremely unprofessional on the phone, leaving us uncomfortable to proceed with the reservation. We ended up at a different steakhouse - S&N (wonderful service here)!

The service was excellent. When we arrived at 6pm on a Friday night, the entire restaurant was empty so we were attended to immediately by multiple servers. The food was a bit underwhelming. The baked goat cheese appetizer was served with Ritz crackers- not the elevated feel we were hoping for. The lobster thermador was chewy. The sea bass was excellent however. For dessert, we had the tableside strawberry crepes, which were delicious. The piano player was amazing and really helped bring the 1940s ambiance.

What a treasure of a restaurant. There is something so unique and special when you dine there. The food is excellent and the ambiance is old world and classy. Cannot recommend that place enough. I promise you will not be disappointed.

FAQs

Yes, The Old Warsaw is a classic date-night spot. Guests consistently praise its old‑world, romantic ambiance, live grand‑piano music, and attentive service, making it ideal for anniversaries or quiet dinners. Expect fine‑dining prix‑fixe options, steaks and Beef Wellington, table‑side desserts (Cherries Jubilee/Bananas Foster), and a candlelit, cozy dining room. For the best experience, make a reservation and consider an early seating or a private room for special occasions.

Old‑world, romantic, and piano‑driven. Guests repeatedly describe an elegant, candlelit, Continental dining room with live grand‑piano music that creates a classic, intimate vibe, perfect for anniversaries and date nights. Some guests do note the decor feels dated or musty at times, but many celebrate the nostalgic, timeless ambiance and attentive service.

Not explicitly stated, guests consistently recommend making reservations because walk‑ins are unreliable, especially on busy nights and holidays. Some guests also note the restaurant calls for a credit card on file for busy dates. If you expect a wait or want standby seating, call the restaurant directly to ask about a waiting list policy for your date.

Partly, families and multi‑generational celebrations do occur here, and guests have brought teens and celebrated birthdays. The focus is on fine dining, steaks, and prix‑fixe menus rather than a kids’ menu, so it’s best for well‑behaved older children or family celebrations. If you’re bringing younger children, consider an early seating or reserving a private room and call ahead about menu flexibility.

For a quieter experience, midweek or early evening is best, many guests found Monday or early weeknights pleasantly calm with the pianist playing and few diners. If you want full atmosphere and holiday flair (live music, special menus), choose weekend nights or holidays, but expect busier dining and special menus/pricing. Always reserve in advance, guests say reservations are strongly recommended.

Yes, the restaurant accepts reservations, private‑dining arrangements, and pre‑arrival requests. Guests mention reservation holds, holiday prix‑fixe menus, and the staff accommodating celebrations; some guests also report the restaurant requests a credit card on file for busy dates. Call ahead to request seating, accessibility needs, menu accommodations, or celebration arrangements so the team can prepare.

Busiest: holidays and weekend evenings (Valentine’s Day, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s) and special event nights when holiday menus are offered. Quietest: many guests report Monday or early‑week dining as very calm, with the pianist often accompanying a nearly empty dining room. Reservations are still recommended for busy dates.

Business casual is the stated dress code. Guests report dressing up for anniversaries and special occasions; note that some patrons have had issues over hats, so it’s best to avoid casual caps and opt for smart, respectful attire if you want a smooth arrival. When in doubt, call ahead.

Portions are typical of classic fine‑dining, modest plated sides with generous main cuts when you order steaks. The menu lists substantial steak sizes (10–22 oz) and larger entrées like bone‑in ribeyes and prime cuts, so mains can be hearty. Guests note smaller, refined vegetable or starch portions typical of gourmet presentations, while some call the value very good compared with similar steakhouses.

Yes, The Old Warsaw operates on many public holidays and publishes special holiday menus (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve). Guests have dined there on holidays, though some report slower service or staffing challenges on very busy dates, so book early and confirm holiday details when reserving.

Yes, The Old Warsaw offers private dining and hosts groups. Guest reports include private rooms used for business dinners (about 16 people) and family celebrations, and the restaurant information confirms it allows private parties. Contact the restaurant to reserve a private room and discuss menus and group pricing.

For a relaxed evening, choose a weekday (Monday–Wednesday) or an early weeknight when guests often find the dining room quiet and the pianist still playing. If you want a livelier, special‑occasion atmosphere, reserve a weekend night or a holiday with special menus, but expect higher volume and advance booking requirements.
