  • "We dined on 4/10/14. For the positives: our meal was excellent, well prepared and the service by Rhonda was outstanding. We were not "rushed" and the meal arrived well staggered to allow us enough time to finish our appetizers before the entree was served. The food was well prepared, a good portion and at the correct temperature. We loathe it when hot food is served on a cold plate, but this restaurant knows how to do it right. Negatives: we arrived 7 minutes early, but the "hostess" would not seat us at our table!. We went to the bar area and ordered drinks while we waited to be brought to our table. The bar service was excellent but the area was extremely noisy. Otherwise the experience was delightful."

  • "As visitors in town we made a reservation at The Old House on a Friday night at 8:30 at the suggestion of our hotel front desk staff. The place was dead - so night owls if you plan to go after 7 even on a weekend you'll probably be okay without a reservation. The service was great and the menu had a good selection. We sat right by the fireplace and had great attention from the wait staff. Everything is a bit overpriced - i.e. $28 for 3 sea scallops. Although, in a land-locked state maybe that's to be expected. Bonus for us was it was within walking distance of our hotel. Also in walking distance from the plaza. Great for a celebratory night or a special occasion. "

  • "I love this restaurant, have had dinner here many times and was looking forward to trying it for lunch with a friend. Honestly, it wasn't all that good. Everything was as expected except for the food which was predictable and rather marginal. We both had salads and wine--wine was good, salads so-so. I'm not sure I would take a guest there for lunch again. I did enjoy dinner there with my son and his wife on February 4th and it was all outstanding, as usual. I'd like to see lunch just as impressive. Maybe I'll try brunch or maybe not. Sorry. "

  • "We were the only 2 patrons in the restaurant when we ordered, and the server got my entree order wrong. He did not seem to be familiar with the menu, which had recently changed. Had to keep asking for water, which was ignored by the server; when there is a server, back waiter, and dishes delivered by the kitchen - what is the function of the server and back waiter in this scenario? Noise level became loud - all 10 other patrons coming in were seated around us in spite of 30+ vacant tables, none of which appeared to be reserved."

  • "We ate here for restaurant week a couple of weeks ago. We've been here before so we knew what to expect. The reason for my 3-star rating is that the rib eye steak being served on that day (Sunday Feb. 23) was not very good. It was charred too much on the outside, and it was sitting on a sweet glaze that made a perfectly good cut of steak taste sweet. Sweet rib eye is definitely not normal. It also has a really strong tasting "chimichurri" style sauce on top that really didn't add anything. In my opinion you shouldn't cover up a great rib eye steak with these other flavors."

  • "It was the most pleasurable and delicious meal that I have had in quite a long time. My ribeye was cooked to perfection. It was a little loud in the restaurant, but there was a conference that was staying at the hotel and I believe the Agave Bar was quite busy. But other than that it was perfect. I would definitely eat there again for restaurant week. That's the only time I can afford it."

  • "What a great restaurant week location. The 28 day aged ribeye steak was excellent and the whole menu was a deal. They even extended the deal for another week, as a local makes me want to come back more regularly to also try the other items on the menu. Service was excellent and the rustic feel allows for jeans or nice attire."

  • "Food was VERY slow getting to table. Manager provided a sorbet before meal arrived to compensate. One meal was totally greasy and potatoes were salty and spinach was overcooked and greasy. Half of this meal was comped. No other compensation for the slow service. Not an enjoyable evening."

  • "In the past the Old House has had a good reputation, but on this occasion the meal was less than stellar. A friend had a stuffed chicken dish. It was not memorable--rather bland. I had grilled trout, and it was cooked to long and dry. The service was friendly, and the surroundings lovely, but I feel the chef is going to need to look more closely at what's leaving the kitchen"

  • "Old House was one of 3 restaurants recommended to us by the concierge at a local Santa Fe Hotel. Old House was booked solid for Valentine's Day so we went the next night. Great decision! The appetizers, dinner and wine were out of this world. Great service by what was clearly a dedicated staff. Beautifully appointed with a combination of modern and old world Native American/New Mexican artifacts and designs, this restaurant was the perfect spot for a quiet, romantic dinner. I'm from the east coast but if I were to visit Santa Fe again, it would be dinner at Old House every night!"

  • "Old House was a wonderful choice for a romantic Valentines dinner. The food was amazing. We were so pleased with our choice. We drove from Albuquerque and it was worth the drive. Of course being Valentines Day, it was pricey. So I would be courious to know how it compares to a regular dinner. The appitizers, salad, main course, and dessert were all cooked to perfection. NOT one disappointment. The service was great. ONLY one recommendation, a soft piano would of topped off the evening."

  • "If you go here start your night in the Agave lounge/bar - it's a beautiful warm space perfect for relaxating and conversing. We had the special Valentine's day four course meal with wine pairings. Everything was outstanding! I believe this is one of the most under-rated restaurants in town- eaten her multiple times and never disappointed."

  • "My husband and I decided to take a trip to Santa Fe for our first wedding anniversary. We were unsure of where to have dinner so we decided to eat in the hotel we were staying in. We checked in with the hostess who was friendly and we received very prompt service as soon as we sat at our table. The "meat locker" was the first thing you see when you walk into the restaurant so we knew we wanted the special, aged steak that the restaurant boasts of. We were not disappointed! It was phenomenal alongside the Hatch green chile mac and cheese! We also had declicious calamari as an appetizer. When making my reservation, I specified that it was our first anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised with two glasses of champagne and a dessert!"

  • "The atmosphere was nice, décor as well. The food left a lot to be desired. Seems the owners put their effort into the place looking good and forgot to follow up with making the food pleasant as well. They brag about their margaritas being "the best ever" and it turns out they are absolutely the worst margaritas my wife and I have ever experienced. It was amazing how awful they were. We sent them back thinking maybe they made a mistake on their pour. The waitress brought them back "re-poured" and they were just as awful. Overall, food was NOT worth the price, service was good, and "drinks after dinner" was a waste."

The staff are very friendly and efficient, the food is excellent, with a creative menu that offers a variety of good choices. As an added bonus, we has access to the hotel lobby, where they had an interesting art show with music, where we spent a pleasant half hour in advance of our meal. Definitely worth a repeat visit/"

  • "we visited the Old House Restaurant within the Eldorado Hotel on Christmas Eve 2013. There was a 5 course prix fix mention with optional wine accompanying the course. The food was exceptional, well seasoned and hot when it arrived. I'm generally a good eater but 5 courses was too much for me. I've eaten at this restaurant several times during non holiday periods and the food, wine and service is consistently excellent."
