Have been here many times and each time find the experience very pleasant and accommodating. The food is always exceptionally hot and great tasting. We love the friendliness of our waitress, Cheryl. We will be coming back many more times. Thank you for the birthday recognition for my hopefully future daughter in law. Love it!

Had a very low-key birthday celebration last Wednesday, their busy day due to the amazing specials. Greeted and seated immediately. Server was very patient with us as we debated over the menu. Food came in very good time; was hot and tasted wonderful. The Wednesday specials are a real bargain but for the quantity and quality of the food any menu item is worth the price. Some traditions are worth preserving - The Old Bavaria Haus is one of them.

We have eaten here a lot and the food never disappoints. It is as close to good home cooking as you are going to find anywhere. The service is friendly and prompt, never pushy. If schnitzel is what you want, you must try this place, you will not be sorry you did.

We made a reservation which was confirmed - when we arrived there was no record of it. Ordered appetizers and main course. The waitress did not bring our soup or salad and arrived with our main course and the excuse that the appetizers had been taken by another table. When we said that we still wanted our appetizers she was able to return with them, however our mains returned to the table having clearly been put in a warming oven of some kind as the vegetables were shriveled and sauce on the black forest schnitzel gluey. basically ignored us for the rest of the evening and we had to wait very long for the bill.. When we finally got our bill and I complained about the entrée she offered to take our ice tea off the bill - big deal.

Last night four of us (age range 24-55) had an excellent family/birthday dinner for the first time at the Bavaria Haus using an Entertainment coupon. We were greeted warmly and promptly, given a choice of tables and waited on with friendliness and professionalism. The appetizer was great and the food came out steaming warm. Two of us had different schnitzels, one had steak with peppercorn sauce and one had the combo meal with schnitzel/rouladen/bratwurst, etc. We all very much enjoyed our mains and the in-house made cheesecake and apple strudel for dessert. The atmosphere was quaint and it was obvious many were returning diners and were greeted by the staff. We would definitely return!

A lovely evening to celebrate my daughter's 25th wedding anniversary. Huge portions - enough to fill a 19 year old grandson. They were very accommodating with a gluten free option, - perhaps a new menu could offer that choice. Jugs of beer were cold and brought back travelling memories and to top it off the waiter's joke ended the evening with us having another great laugh. We'll be back.

The schnitzels were quite large and well cooked but the menu could use revamping. It feels like you are stepping back in time as the menu has not kept pace with today's style. The decor is also very tired and is in need of an update. Our server was great, the food tasty but the overall ambience is drab and dreary.

A German-feel haus with pictures and touches that make The Bavaria Haus unique. There are not many German restaurants around, so it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to have a scrumptious dinner. The special was a schnitzel with toppings (cant remember what), and red cabbage, vegetables, potatoes, and Hungarian goulash for appy. The Hungarian goulash was filling enough with the bread!! We were so stuffed when we left that we waddled out of the restaurant happy and full! I would highly recommend anyone to dine here.

The authentic-looking Bavarian decor was the perfect backdrop for this schnitzel extravaganza. The schnitzel was not the best I've ever tasted, but it was very good, and a variety of toppings made it possible to experience a lot of different flavours. Service was friendly and efficient in this family-run establishment. Highly recommended!

We are repeat customers and recently used Open Table to request a quiet table, suitable for a leisurely wedding anniversary dinner. This past Friday, we had an early reservation and our food and its presentation was quite simply great, but unfortunately our service was hurried and impersonal even though the restaurant was not yet filled.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were left waiting at the entrance for about 5 minutes without anyone attending to us at all. There was a bell for us to ring for service and we did that twice but still no response. Finally the server came around the corner and apologized for not seeing us there. She was wonderful through out the rest of the evening and was very apologetic for keeping us waiting. It was a special occasion that we were celebrating and other than that little mishap at the beginning of our arrival, the rest of the evening was wonderful and we were well taken care of.

If you like the German kitchen you will find what your heart desired. Schnitzel in a big variety, Rouladen, Bratwurst, Gulash Suppe and more. Don't forget to keep a little room for Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte or Apfelstrudel. The service is very friendly and welcoming, the ambiente is traditional German or better Bavarian character.

I like the old world ambience. There is a good diverse selection on the menu. The servers are always polite and friendly. I especially love the red cabbage side vegetable and would love to have the recipe. We were not rushed as is the situation at many restaurants. I know that the food was not micro waved as is the situation in many places now. My chocolate mousse was yummy. I think this is our new favourite restaurant!

A good variety of Schnitzels with large plates. Don't expect a plate with an artistic excuse for white space and small portions, expect a full meal that both looks appealing and tastes like it should. This is reminiscent of good German food with your Schnitzels, Roulades, and Bratwurst. Truly a comforting gem of a restaurant.

The Bavaria Haus is very traditional in appearance and the food is very good. However, the noise level is very loud when fully occupied. It is hard to carry on a conversation with a small group (we were 7). The server did not check on us to see how satisfied we were until the main course was done. I probably would go again, but just for a lunch.

Schnitzel is their specialty. was 3rd and last visit. Husband likes it. Professional servers. 5 min to get garlic bread and over 40 to get main meal. Service was slow for everyone that evening. Don't usually add salt to my food as I am on a low salt diet but schnitzel was bland and so was the appetizer, Backed scallops in cheese and mashed potatoes $7.95(Having spell check problems). Contained exactly 3 medium sized scallops. The only tasty thing on the main dish was the cooked red cabbage. Had the Pacific Schnitzel last time: schnitzel covered with shrimp in a white sauce. Small, tasteless shrimps. Son ordered the same and agreed shrimps were tasteless. So, high prices, bland food. I expected better and more! Left hungry.

Old Bavaria Haus has been in New Westminster for a very long time, and remains a favourite with the locals. Enjoyed a meal for three last Saturday night and it was packed and noisy. Everyone was happy and found the food marvelous and the service personal. Service would get a 5, but the busy waiter just couldn't keep up to all the tables. The restaurant would be quieter perhaps on a weeknight, but it was good to see so many cheerful people around. Loved my schnitzel!

The service was a little slow (also very busy at the time) beer was phenomenal I'd suggest the house pilsner. I had the stuffed mushrooms champignon and the pacific west coast schnitzel, and my girlfriend had the red snapper, both were delicious and highly recommended. A friend of mine and his girlfriend had the escargot for an appy and I tried one also very delicious... The best in recent memory to tell the truth. As for the noise level this is a German beer and schnitzel house it is a place for banter and cheer. Hope this helps your decision. Cheers

Okay, the Bavaria Haus has made me a Schnitzel addict...LOL. I have dined here several times since being introduced to it and every meal has been perfect, very consistent. The other thing I can suggest, make sure you make a reservation on OPEN TABLE as this place gets busy (Friday and Saturday are the days I have been in and the place was always full by 6:30pm).

We enjoyed the food and the quality time we were able to spend with friends. The ambiance was great, not too noisy so that one could talk without having to speak loudly. However, being a Saturday evening and the restaurant being almost full, we felt the staff was overwhelmed. It took nearly an hour to get our main meal. We were not in a rush, but still...it was a bit too long! BJM1

Wife and I went this past Saturday for the first time. Made online reservations which was quite easy. We picked a nice red wine and our waiter Michael suggested a different one which was only $1 more. Very good wine and it turns out it was by far the best dollar value on the wine list. We both had appetizers, I had the Spaeztle and gravy, outstanding! The wife had garlic prawns which she said were very good.Monica ordered the combination plate and I had the Mushroom Schnitzel.Huge portions, which explains all the leftover containers I saw everyone leaving with including us.Extremely good!! We fully intend on making the the Old Bavaria Haus a monthly treat. Total with a nice tip was only $120.00, very affordable.
