We got married on Grouse Mountain so we came here for our first anniversary. It is a very romantic spot and We would recommend this for the ambiance and breathtaking view. It's also great that the gondola ride is part of your reservation. However, we were a bit disappointed with the food. We had the albacore tuna as a starter and were both very disappointed with it. The tuna was not prepared properly and didn't taste very good. For our main dishes we had the beef tenderloin and the halibut, which both had some great flavours but everything was way over salted. We probably wouldn't go back but would recommend it to our friends if they were looking for a unique and romantic spot.

Perfect night , perfect place, perfect food. A cloudless night with a giant full moon over Vancouver. The sunset was nothing less than spectacular. The food I had was the best I had in Seattle, Victoria and Vancouver. Top that off with a great BC Chardonnay and amazing service. The view was the best from any restaurant I have been.

One goes to an 'observatory' for the view. Without a view, a romantic anniversary dinner becomes a lame duck night. The restaurant does say they can't guarantee a window table, but the inner tables aren't even on a dias giving you no view at all - only sky. The food: the crab and salad appetizers were good (the crab was tiny!!) and the salmon and beef tenderloin were excellent with diverse and succulent flavours! The dessert we shared (chocolate cherry dish) was tasty as well. No wine kept the bill affordable. I will not go back - no view at "The Observatory" is unforgiveable! I have been advising my friends and colleagues not to go as well and I am particularly upset that there wasn't even an apology from the staff.

We came up with our daughter and two relatives from Norway who had come to Canada to help us celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. My husband asked me to marry him on Grouse Mountain in November 1963. We asked for a table by a window so our relatives could enjoy the beauty of Vancouver and we had a great view as well the wait staff were great. Thank you so much

This is a go-to restaurant for us when we have family visiting from afar. Make sure to book for a date when the weather cooperates - the view is phenomenal. The trip up in the gondola sets the tone for a memorable dinner. The hostess wasn't particularly friendly or clued-in, but the service inside was spot-on - very attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. The food was imaginative and beautifully plated. The prices are a bit high, but when you factor in the free gondola ride and access to Grouse Mtn, the overall bill is very reasonable. We didn't have a front-window table, which was a bit disappointing, but the view was still quite nice from our table.

The Observatory restaurant at the top of Grouse Mountain is the perfect place if you are looking for one of the best views of Vancouver and a very good meal. The food is great quality and presently perfectly. Prices are expensive but the ride up and back down are free if you make a reservation. Great spot for a special occasion but go on a clear day to so you can take advantage of the panoramic view!

If planning to see the view from Grouse Mountain, we would definitely recommend booking a dinner reservation, which includes the tram ride; it more than pays the $44.00 per person fee to ride the tram, and was a very nice experience. The chef is definitely gifted in presentation; all of our courses, salad, entrée and dessert, were picture-perfect. The Halibut entrée was perfectly cooked, and served in a unique way. My spouse ordered a filet of beef, which was not available, and the short rib meal substitution was generous but not equal to a filet. That said, you can't beat the ambiance of sunset high above the beautiful city of Vancouver. We will definitely return, and recommend it to others. Our server had many good recommendations for us.

Although I appreciate the restaurant taking care of my flower delivery to the table, we waited 45 minutes to get a table at the window, which then didn't matter because it was all clouds outside (not your fault). Beef tenderloin was sold out so substituted Short ribs (no idea how either come close to each other). Food was overall not impressive as it was either lacking taste or flavors didn't go well together. We regularly dine out fine dining and this does not come close in food and service. If you can get up there on a clear day, go for it but don't expect much in refined dining.

This place has it all. Stunning views of Vancouver, world class food, slick service. Food wise, in our experience the starters pack more flavour than the main courses. The chicken terrine was especially superb. Only one let down - the ice cream should be smoother but that really is being picky. Very reasonable prices considering the quality.

I was looking for a unique experience to give to my daughter and husband. Beautiful view - we got a window seat. The food was excellent - beautiful presentation & wonderful taste. The server offered some options for my daughter, who is 10 years old. She ended up ordering from the adult menu but it was nice to have a couple of options for kids when going out. Great team work from staff - it seemed like everyone was providing service to all tables. Taking the tram added to the experience. Great night.

I had venison for appetizer, the duck dish for main entree, and the goat cheese cheese cake for desert. The appetizer and the entree were good but they lacked more flavor. The duck medallions were too salty and for come reason they were cold unlike the rest of the plate. Goat cheese cheese cake was probably the best out of the three. I would not recommend this place if you are expecting an upscale fine dining experience. The best thing about it is definitely the view you get.

This was a great spot for celebrating a memorable birthday. Be sure to reserve ahead of time so you don't have to pay for the gondola. We went a bit early so we could walk around a bit and see the bird show. That was impressive too. The view is beautiful and I was surprised that our food was so good. Often I find places with really nice views don't put the same effort into their food but at the Observatory everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious.

We had a splendid view over the skyline of downtown Vancouver and enjoyed the beautifully arranged courses. The use of local products and fancy ideas such as sprinkling volcanic ashes over a dish delighted us. The prices are more than justified for the good service and the quality of the food. We would certainly recommend this location to anyone who would like to celebrate a special day.

I had not been there for a number of years and we were all blown away by how incredible the service and food was. Definitely a memorable occasion and it certainly won't be as long for me to go back!! We chose the Observatory to take our guests from Winnipeg to enjoy the mountain view while dining and that they did. We started with the crab cakes, tartare, and green salad. All delicious. The halibut was delicious as well as the goat cheesecake. However even for fine dining the wine list was a little pricey. The service was fantastic and very personable.

This place has amazing views of Vancouver. A must see AND your entree costs as much as the gondola ride up - so a good value as well. Wait staff are phenomenal, wine list is HUGE and fun drinks as well. My only complaint is the food was too fancy and the wait staff had to explain it when your dish was served. Had the daily special of short ribs and they could've used more flavor and less pretentious sauces. All and all a must do for special occasions or anytime you want a GREAT view of the city. Our 7:30 reservation was perfect for watching the sun set over the city.

A classy facility, except for the fact the washroom is shared with transient visitors. The outside of the door was "sticky" to the touch, which left a very poor perception of the reason why. It felt as though the paint was breaking down, or hikers were leaving remnants of sticky hands from energy drinks, while pushing to go in and wash up. I expect more attention to these details. Also had a careless error on bill, where a drink was added that was not ordered at our table. Considering it was a quiet night due to weather, begs to question "Why"

We had reservations for 3 on a week night. The view was superb, but the food and service were beyond anything we expected. Our waiter was glad to enable us to split 2 appetizers. Both the chicken terrine and crab appetizers were beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. Our 3 main courses were the Fraser duck, the halibut and the pork. Again, each dish was a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. We had dessert coffees as well as cocktails - and the beverages were perfectly crafted. Our finale' was the chocolate cherry bombe. It was a showpiece, but we managed to devour it with great relish. The staff were pleasant & well informed of the menu - we never lacked for attention, but didn't feel we needed to rush through.

The cost for all entrees are $39. All the appetizers are $16. The portions of the dinners are, how should i put it, make sure you eat before you go. The dishes had so many different tastes it was an assault on your taste buds. They had no right combing all those ingredients. I would never recommend this experience to anyone. Maybe the reason is that they comp your ticket up to the top, but you have to order an entree per person. I also know that they only have 1 kitchen to serve the entire dining experience. So the kitchen will put out a burger and then put out a beef tenderloin dish. With all the money they make you think that they would have separate kitchens.
