The OakroomThis is a ture 5 start experience! This is a ture 5 start experience! I could not believe the wine list. I found out that they have 4 wine rooms with different wines. The food was outstanding. When it came to service it was exceptional. I have nerver had so much attention. AAA is right on when they give it a 5 star rating.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the Brunch! Jamal ourLoved the Brunch! Jamal our server was the best. He has worked there for 27 years and was friendly, attentive, a great asset to the restaurant. Scrambled eggs with tomatoes,, chive oil and Gruyere Cheese to die for. Roasted Brussels Sprouts. Mimosa's. Celebrating my birthday, though it was not known to the restaurant, and felt like I was treated like a VIP. Live in Indianapolis, would definitely return, worth a road trip. Not your typical brunch, stated changes weekly, the staff at the buffet station very friendly and professional, the food, was fresh, not overcooked, stations were neat and clean, outstanding in all aspects. A+5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA very good choiceThe Oak Room is a very good choice for dinner. Attentive , knowledgeable, and polite staff, good menu options, very good food, and a great wine list. EVERYTHING was done properly for relaxing fine dining. Good sized square or round tables. Tables were spaced properly. Large, upholstered, comfortable chairs. Proper linen tablecloths and napkins. Cutlery replaced for each course. Friendly and attentive staff. The new chef has only been on staff for 5 -6 months. HE PLATES ALL THE FOOD AND HAS FABULOUS ATTENTION TO DETAIL.There are 6 appetizers, 6 entrees and 6 desserts. We tried the lobster bisque, tiger prawns and mushroom grits and green goddess salad. All Excellent. We tried the oakroom pork, the beef filet and the halibut. All excellent. Loved the complimentary bread and special butters, the sorbet, asparagus soup shots and the bourbon balls.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA dinning experienceOutstanding dinning experience! Troy our server was delightful and sommelier knows her stuff! Her recommendations were spot on. We chose the food and wine pairings (chef and somalier choice) and enjoyed every bit of of the food, wine and service. An adventure in elegance with a side of fun!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Brunch in the Oak RoomSunday Brunch in the Oak Room was a wonderful experience. All of the food selections at the buffet were visually appealing and most flavorful....quite enjoyed the Mushroom Bisque.
As we leisurely ate our meal, we could not help but sit back and take in all of the old-world grandeur that surrounded us. The dining room is beautiful.
We were well taken care of and look forward to our next visit.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent as always, thisexcellent as always, this is our anniversary dinner spot. food and service are impeccable. they always make sure we are treated special. the food is amazing, always exquisite, perfectly done, interesting, and well presented.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Oakroom's buffet eventsThe Oakroom's buffet events are always wonderful - not to be missed! The mushroom bisque was outstanding, and the salmon with portobello couscous was fabulous. Service is attentive but discreet. Perfect for a quiet business lunch, romantic celebration, or just because you deserve it.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and beautiful atmosphereGreat food and beautiful atmosphere. Pricey but not overly so, given the quality of the food and surroundings. The service was friendly, but not quite up to par, though. Our party arrived in small groups. We had to ask for bread for the later arrivals and water refills were often slow to appear. While certainly dinner at a place like this shouldn't be rushed, things seemed to take longer than necessary, especially given how few tables there were and how many waitstaff. In particular dessert took WAY longer to get to the table than it should have, and coffee refills had to be requested repeatedly. This won't keep us from coming back, but with just a little more attention the experience could go from very good to truly outstanding.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Oakroom was wonderfulThe Oakroom was wonderful as always. Love their brunch.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for brunch. GreatWe went for brunch. Great selection and a wonderful atmosphere. They even sprinkled rose petals on the table for our anniversary (no extra charge). We were very pleased. The service may deserve 5 stars to be fair. Couldn't say since, it being a buffet, not much service was required. But the plates got cleared and we never had to wait too long for refills.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTop shelf operation with excellentTop shelf operation with excellent food, wine & service. When passing through Louisville, we never miss an opportunity to enjoy the Oakroom experience. No one in the area does it any better.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DelightMy husband & I ate @ the Oka Room for our 27th anniversary on a Saturday nite in april 2013. The service was wonderful & the ambience was lovely - esp. the red rose petals scattered on our table. Cocktails made to order were superb and the menu choices fabulous...hard to choose what to have. Be sure to try the cheese plate before your entree.
If you visit, be sure to ask about Al Capone's private dining room in the restaurant, and his adventures around the hotel.
Sadly the Seelbach Hotel's The Oakroom is 5 hours away from our home, otherwise we'd be regular customers! Thanks again to the great staff....4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOur party of 5 had an absolutelyOur party of 5 had an absolutely wonderful dinner at the Oakroom: the service was great, including the sommelier, and the food was simply exquisite. We can't wait for another weekend at the Seelbach!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a wonderful place toWhat a wonderful place to celebrate an anniversary! Our table was strewn with red roses, which set the mood for a romantic dinner from start to finish. Friendly, knowledgeable service, from food to wine to the history of the hotel. Special requests were accommodated graciously. We will return for this special treatment!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Oakroom Brunch has alwaysThe Oakroom Brunch has always been fun but this one was less so. Since it was Easter, it is called a "Royal Brunch," which enables them to charge $50 a person. In the future we will skip the "Royal" brunches because we found the food uneven (waterlogged shrimp and crab for example) and they wanted to charge us for the glass of champagne that their website clearly indicates is complimentary after 1. [They politely informed us that this wasn't the case for "royal" brunches: if this is true, why confuse your diners with your own website?] Desserts and salad were excellent.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and wine heaven! It was my brother's birthday and they made it a truly special occasion from beginning to end-all 2 1/2 hours! We had the seven course tasting menu with the flight of wine. It was the best culinary experience either one of us ever had. Every course was a brilliant composition of ingredients, perfectly prepared. The Sommelier poured a wine pairing prior to each course, explaining why the wine was the ideal complement—she was spot on every time. The service was also excellent. Everyone was very pleasant and attentive. We were even delighted to have the Executive Chef visit our table to wish my brother a "happy birthday." I would highly recommend the Oak Room to any foodie looking for a great food and wine experience.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Oakroom delivered on itsThe Oakroom delivered on its promise to be the best! We enjoyed a very nice dinner, and felt it was offered at a fair price. The wine list was expansive; would have liked to have seen more of a list for spirits (bourbon...). Overall, this was a fantastic experience and not only will I visit next time I am in Louisville, I will plan my trip around it!11/23/2012 12:00:00 AM
