The Oak TableGreat spot for a great dinnerI had the opportunity to dine at Oak Table this past week and had a great experience. I met a customer who is also a good friend and had a great experience with great food and excellent service. I will definitely be back!!!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat brunch! My husband had the house made sausage and it was delicious. I had the bahn mi tostada and it was very good as well. The service was spot on.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMHip spot with outstanding serviceMy Wife and I chose to visit the Oak Table for our wedding anniversary and found it to be a nice change from what we are accustomed to in Columbia. The view of the Statehouse at dusk is nice and the bar was full of well-dressed professionals. The bar did seem too close to the seating area which could turn some people off but it never got rowdy. The food was good but not outstanding. The Steak and Frites my wife ordered was was rather pedestrian for a $25 steak. The menu is limited with only 9 entrees to choose from but gives enough variety to suit most anyone. What made the experience enjoyable was the service. Our server was knowledgeable of the offerings and had a great attitude without being too "bubbly".6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food with a great viewWe tried The Oak Table for the first time earlier this week. The food was excellent. The patio seating area affords a view if the beautiful state capital across Gervais Street. Recommended!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMServiceThe service was very good. Wait staff well informed about menu and wine. Food outstanding!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother PlaceYou are right in the middle of town, but you could be somewhere else. The atmosphere is quiet. The food is interesting and tasty. And, the view of the State House is grand, especially from the bar. It's a keeper.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!Returned to Oak Table for my girl friend's birthday dinner. Fortunately, had great weather and was able to secure outdoor seating with a lovely view of the State House. As before, the food was fabulous. Our server was attentive, but not overbearing. With no appetizer, the meal was filling to the point where we thought there would be no room for dessert, but we made room for the ice cream special.... Sweet Corn. It was very delicate and enjoyable. Can't wait to go back.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA welcome respite for downtownA welcome respite for downtown workers at lunch, and a relaxing yet fun dining destination in the evening. Not an extensive menu but sufficient. It does make it hard to choose from the few items if one leans toward vegetarian dishes. The cocktail menu is a highlight.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFor the hip foodieEnergetic atmosphere, delicious food, excellent wine selection and was called by name when I enterred the restaurant! One of my favorite dining spots in Columbia.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as always!Eaten here before and the food is outstanding...menu changes each time using local vendors for their food supplies. Service is top notch and very accommodating.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSuch a memorable eveningWe have always enjoyed eating here but have never eaten on the patio. This night the weather was cool and clear and we decided to stay on the outside. What a treat! Our meal, as usual, was delicious, and we enjoyed the atmosphere outside, with the view of the Capitol Building and the sound of the birds in the trees. It was delightful. Thanks again!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat nightHighly recommend all try Oak Table. Had Riccota Gnudi and truffled scallop dishes for starters. Great flavors and scallops cooked perfect! Best I have ever had. Main courses aged NY strip and fried while lobster. Sides of vegetable pot and 7 cheese Mac. Wonderful brioche bread for the table. Server paired wines for us perfectly. Everyone there makes a point to make you feel special without being over the top. I am pleased that they continue to keep at least one vegetarian item on the menu and are more than willing to work with other dishes to make accommodate everyone's dining needs. We will continue to visit the Oak Table.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMJust what Columbia needed!A very fine establishment. Service was excellent. Food was great!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent cocktails and theExcellent cocktails and the food was perfectly prepared.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMJust a really good restaurant!Best mushrooms you've ever eaten! House-made charcuterie is amazing! Almost always have fresh, local fish, which is a personal favorite. This time had sheepshead and softshell crabs. So delicious! Wonderful selection of mid-priced wines. Servers and staff are so knowledgeable and friendly.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as always!!!The food is excellent. Alway a great meal. The owners and staff are always friendly and there are plenty of them. Love this place.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our overall diningWe enjoyed our overall dining experience a great deal. We made an early reservation and asked to be seated at the bar. When I arrived, there was no where to sit at the bar, but the bartender assisted us in getting seats. Food was delicious. Highly recommend the new shrimp dish. There were several vegetarian options fo my son; he said the vegetable risotto was very good. We also had a side of the mushrooms. I typically am not a mushroom fan, but these were wonderful and I would have to recommend them highly. Bartender Tracy waited on us and she was fabulous. Cheerful, helpful, and knowledgable. She had a lot going on as the bar was very busy but she was extremely attentive and fun. Food is overpriced, but overall a great experience.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful time atWe had a wonderful time at the Oak Table!! Definitely a great addition to Columbia's restaurant scene. Food was great, and so was our service.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, but expensiveIt was very good. Food was excelent, service was very good. Tables are a little crouded together. It is is no waw $$ in the price range - it is $$$-$$$$ at least. 4 people, one entree each, one bottle of cheap wine split, desert = $250. Very good, but cost more than it should.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for a birthday dinner. We went for a birthday dinner. Everything was wonderful. The food was fantastic, service was great. I ordered the Bourbon truffle cocktail which turned out to be too strong for my taste and the server gladly exchanged it for another drink. Would definitely dine here again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant was very pretty,The restaurant was very pretty, with nice Oak tables and a bright open room and view to the kitchen. The food was very good and we'd definitely go back.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best in Columbia! This is probably the best restaurant in Columbia. We enjoyed everything. The cocktails, the wine, the appetizers, and our entrees. Too full for dessert. We will be back!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, as expected. We live in Charleston and have been to several of the groups concepts there and so when we were in town for a show at the Koger Center we knew we wanted to check out Oak table.
The restaurant has that "Indigo Road" look and reminded us of The MacIntosh design-wise.
I spend a good amount of time in Columbia for business and restaurant-wise, it's not Charleston--or Greeneville for that matter. Still, it's growing. This is already the best restaurant in town and a vital Oasis in what has traditionally been a food desert. Much needed.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding mealI can honestly say I had one of the best meals in my life at The Oak Table. Absolutely worth trying for a nice evening. Very creative menu, everything was fresh, and the presentation was amazing. The service was outstanding. Do yourself a favor and eat here when in Columbia!!!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEntertained a potential candidateEntertained a potential candidate for a position. Sevice and food were excellant. Perfert spot.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and drink.Excellent food and drink. We had the Easter buffet and my kids commented they wanted more breakfast variety. I was stuffed. Food was delicious!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are from out of town andWe are from out of town and wanted to take our niece, a student at USC, to Easter brunch so we booked a reservation at the Oak Table thru Open Table. We were extremely happy with everything about the Oak Table! The location was great (across the street from the Capitol building), the service was wonderful and the food was awesome!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding quality of foodOutstanding quality of food and preparation coupled with great service.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA must in ColumbiaWe had an 8 o'clock reservation and were seated promptly. Our server was friendly, skilled and unobtrusive. Presentation of the food was artistic and well plated. Selections were creative, tasty and quantity was appropriate. Ambience was as advertised in that the large open room is more conducive to a fun evening out than a romantic dinner. I would definitely return when I am next in Colombia.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the very best!Time after time, The Oak Table never disappoints and, as picky as this foodie is, always seems to exceed my expectations. It was an overcast day the last time I lunched there and the view of the Statehouse against the grey sky was so spectacular, I took a picture. My girlfriend and I ordered the Cobb salad and split an order of the daily taco specials (which by the way, are to die for) along with a gorgeous bottle of Justin Isosceles accompanied by spectacular service. If you've never been to The Oak Table, you absolutely must and if you've been, you know exactly what I'm talking about when it comes to the atmosphere, food and service. I'm in love with the Oak Table!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! A must for anyExcellent! A must for any foodie in the area. We drove from Charleston for Sunday Brunch and will be back for dinner. Fabulous menu and truly innovative cuisine.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI was expecting somethingI was expecting something special with the porkchop. It was no different than a thick cut chop from the grocery store and it was a bit dry without much flavor. The small plate ravioli was good.
Service was excellent!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Oak Table is FABULOUSOak Table was absolutely fabulous. Perfection from beginning to end. The ambiance was superb - we all noted that the acoustics must be terrific because there was absolutely no noise to compete with our conversation. The food was impeccable, interesting and beautifully presented. Our waiter, Jessica was an absolute pro - the service was excellent.
A great place for an amazing dining experience.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest new restaurant in ColumbiaBest new restaurant in Columbia by far. We had reservations for 7:15, and got there a few minutes early so we went to the bar for drinks. Our table was not ready on time (due to diners that sat and talked long after they paid their bill), so the restaurant bought us a free round of drinks and the chef sent out a free appetizer. The staff was awesome, the food was superb, and the ambiance cannot be matched in Columbia. Highly recommend!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcome addition to Columbia! We had heard good things about this restaurant and we weren't disappointed.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had tried to get into TheWe had tried to get into The Oak Table several times, but they were always booked . . . unless we wanted to eat VERY late.
Thanks to OpenTable, we were able to book a few days ahead and had a wonderful meal.
The menu is very small, but our small plates and entrees were excellent.2/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA favorite for this foodieA favorite for this foodie ... excellent in every way!1/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA Treasure in Columbia ...The Oak Table consistently combines delicious, creative food in an elegant atmosphere with a gorgeous view of the SC Statehouse on one side of the restaurant and an open kitchen on the other. It's exciting to dine here as the menu is constantly changing, with some of the most unique, delicious offerings in town. The employees are phenomenal, and you can tell by the way they treat the customers that they enjoy working there, which adds so much to the dining experience. Love the detail to attention and upbeat spirit everyone (from the greeter at the front door to the kitchen) seems to possess at The Oak Table. No doubt, an absolute favorite for this foodie.1/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
