Diner Reviews
  • "I ate at the bar twice and found the experience enjoyable and relaxing. The staff was very helpful in my choice of dishes and local wines. The foie gras and the beet salad as well as my duck entree were all delicious. I was very impressed with the restaurant that I treated my daughter and son-in-law to a special dinner during our stay in Southold. I also stayed 2 nights at the inn and found it very pleasant and comfortable. I would highly recommend the inn and the restaurant to anyone visiting Southold or any adjoining places in Long Island!"

  • "Four people who'd waited a while to try the food here. Initial service promising. Then waitress served an alcoholic drink to someone who'd been sober 27 years! She hadn't paid attention to what was ordered. Apps were decent, good beet salad with local goat cheese, great corn and crab soup, but fluke crudo was tasteless. Entrees were all around average. A big eye tuna listed as 'seared, served raw" was cooked to death and when returned, replaced with an ugly, fatty barely seared hunk that tasted awful and was duly exchanged for the big eye tuna tartare app which was actually good. Veggie lasagna was tasty, duck was blah and overcooked. Dessert was ok, doughnuts a standout, but coffee served was burnt."

  • "What was once a favorite of ours has lost it's charm. The food was "good" not great. And I expect great at these prices. Sad to say ...as it was once excellent ! The exception ? The desserts were to die for. It's obvious the lady pastry genius still has it :)"

  • "We are more than willing to pay for the already heady price for prux fixe menu. But it is unconsciable to charge a $ $30 supplement for a portion of corn risotto ! And almost all of the items have supplemental charges. Not at all worth the cost. The food is wonderful and the servers are terrific but one feels abused by the pricing. Sadly, will not return and I'd be embarrassed to bring my friends. This is definitely NOT Gotham Bar and Grill quality food for the pricing. Please re-think your pricing or change your menu to something much more spectacular and fresh."

  • "As with previous meals there the food was very good. However, the steak for two was not. It was quite tough and had almost no taste. At age 73 I have eaten many steaks at all price levels and this one was one of the poorer. The other person who had this steak agreed as did a third person at the table who sampled it. We complained to the manager. He said they had had no previous complaints about this dish, took it in to the chef and then told us that the chef without tasting it thought it was fine. The steak had an additional price of $30 per person on top of the fixed price menu. Nothing was taken off of this bill which we felt was wrong."

  • "Over all it was a very nice meal. We were a little taken back by the overabundance of cold only choices especially on the appetizer menu. Rather pricey we thought and you are locked into at least a three course dinner if seating at a table."

  • "We go there for all special days in our life. Our anniversary, birthdays, especially. We are always treated as special and that is not because we know Mary and Mike Mraz, because on 8/11/2014 we were there for our 30th anniversary and no one we knew was there and the treatment we got was the same - simply the best. Caryll's duck was perfect and my tuna was also. We have never left there hungry, and always feel pampered, but not treated any differently than anyone else. Thank you."

  • "In today's fast-paced world, The NFT&I offers a superior dining experience with wonderful food, presented beautifully, and excellent service in a lovely atmosphere, all at a leisurely pace."

  • "Second time here, first time this year. Went with the Chef's Tasting Menu, as every item on it looked amazing. The food is well prepared, seasonal, interesting without crossing into exotic territories. All the courses were excellent, perhaps with one exception. I was a little disappointed with the lobster course - it was poached lobster in a broth with wild mushrooms and Asian-inspired seasonings. It was bland - they probably should have fully embraced the Asian flavors. But really, really loved the other courses. And even slightly bland lobster is still pretty good! I would definitely recommend to anyone staying on the North Fork as it's truly the best restaurant out there."

  • "Aside from the food being fabulous (highly recommend the tuna tar tare and the doughnuts), I loved the fact that their wine selection showcased local vineyards!! I felt the meal and experience was worth the cost."

  • "Was very impressed with the quiet but elegant ambiance. Called ahead of time to explain my food allergies. Our server was aware of that when we arrived. Excellent. She directed me to items that would be safe for me - great. But then, she came back and told me that what we had chosen would not work and I had to re-order, and some items would be removed from my dish to accomodate my allergies. In most restaurants if they remove an item they replace it with another. In this case things were simply removed leaving me with not much to eat. The food I ate was very good. My son loved his meal! the desserts were fabulous. Not too rich , tasty and beautifully presented. In fact, presentation was awesome on all dishes!"

  • "food was good and flavorful , at least what was put on your plate. portions are very tiny. Fish with Risotto turned out to be a wedge of fish with a teaspoon amount of risotto. I asked my girlfriend, How was the Risotto? She replied, "I don't know. I am not sure I ate any. I really don't know". for the high prices, more so than any other in the Southold, Greenport area, I would not recommend it unless you like eating dinner, paying a high price, and then leave and go to another restaurant because you are still hungry. but the dessert was presented beautifully, and was delicious. We had more desert than our actual main course."

  • "The is first time I ate at North Fork Table & Inn. The food was the best I have ever eaten. Fresh and local sourced food, unbelievable. The service was also excellent. Make reservations a must. A truly wonderful dinning experience. Recommend to all."

  • "My husband and I try to eat here once and year and this was our fourth time visiting - and it didn not disappoint! We had a fantastic meal and experience. I would recommend this place to anyone on the North Fork, and it's not that far of a drive from the Hamptons either. Definitely a place to celebrate a special occasion. I will note that the menu hasn't seemed to change much over the years, which is fine because everything is great, but I wouldn't mind seeing a little more variety."

  • "We had the five course tasting menu (150 each) and wine pairing (30 each). The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. Wine pairings went very well with food. They also have a three course prix fix dinner for $75 but expect to pay more as most of the more desirable dishes are extra. All in all, a notable experience and well worth the price."

  • "North Fork Table and Inn is the most expensive restaurant on the North Fork of Long Island -- and its dinners are worth every penny. Terrific, imaginative dishes and friendly service -- can't ask for anything more."

  • "Price is not warranted by the mediocre service and ambience, although food is excellent."

  • "Just a bit quirky, and a stumble or two on the service or I would have spiked the reviews across the board. Certainly the best place we tried in the area (we did the big three) but for a five rating you have to really be exceptional - the kind of place that puts others to shame. While excellent, this didn't quite do that."

  • "We wanted our lunch reservation for Friday, BUT OPEN TABLE said, basically no lunch;we found out Saturday that they do have Friday lunch (?) I start this review with that, because I wanted Friday because Saturday (I forgot) and Sunday are brunch menus, or a four course tasting menu, and I wanted LUNCH;so we got caught in major traffic and were a half hour late;I called and they were most pleasant about whatever time;when we arrived, there was one occupied table of three men speaking VERY LOUDLY in their native Asian language; we had to move and they graciously accommodated; we sat by ourselves and had their really good mac/cheese and omelet; we loved our server, Hannah; next Sat/Sun, we might just go to the Lunch Truck with all the others!"

  • "We have been here many times, and for good reason. It is our favorite North Fork restaurant and one of our favorites on the planet. The decor is soothing and the service professional but firiendly. We had corn chowder, fluke crudo, swordfish, stripped bass and pork loin. All were superb. The deserts are devine. Oh, and some wonderful cocktail options. My only complaint, it is getting too popular."

  • "$75 Prix Fixe was worth every penny, & I'm sure the $150 tasting menu would have been also. Food was beautifully prepared & presented. Wait staff were extremely attentive. Appropriate for couples or small groups. About twice the cost of other notable restaurants, but make it a one time stop during your stay in North Fork."
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "Cold corn soup, seared tuna, duck were all great. Ambience poor with staff constantly strolling by. Service was rushed; 2nd course arrived moments after clearing first course. Wine list is wildly over-priced. Great food but overall experience is disappointing."

  • "This was one of the better dinning experiences we have had on LI. While the food was not as good as top NYC restaurants, it is close. Most of the dishes and ingredients speak to Long Island, however I think they could do a better job of a farm to table experience. For the price I would have also like to have seen more courses."

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary there last night. The tasting menu is expensive, but worth it. From beginning to end everything was of the absolutely finest quality. Nice to go on a weeknight when they're not as busy as well!"

  • "Spend a day on the North Fork visiting wineries and farm stands. Come here at night. Food was lovely...service sweet but not professional. I guess they cannot get professional help during the summer. Meal is rushed unless one makes an issue. We had the tasting menu. The main dish was beef. The beef was ordered rare but came out medium. We had to return it, and then the vegetables were cold."

  • "Have dined at North Fork Table & Inn before for dinner, and every meal has been terrific. This time, my wife and I went for brunch, and once again the food was excellent, but we thought the portions were meager, which we never felt about dinner. Still, Zagat rates the restaurant as the best on Long Island, and I would agree."

  • "We have eaten at North Fork Table and Inn multiple times and this trip we had dinner there twice and lunch at the food truck! All three meals were delicious - especially the chef's tasting menu. If you have the opportunity for the lunch truck the pulled pork sandwich with both sauces is amazing!!"
