I thought the hostess could have been more friendly (I later heard the same complaint by many other people) -- the service, otherwise, was very good. As is the case with many restaurants these days, North Fork nailed the appetizers and desserts but failed to deliver on the main course. My duck was uninteresting, bland. The cheese plate also needs more fanfare (compotes, crackers, grapes, etc.) I liked the selection of local wines, several of which moderately priced.

I've had plenty of fantastic meals in NYC, but this place is one of my favorites. Food is outstanding and the service is extremely accommodating. One of my friends dining with me needed eye drops and our waiter brought some to him. Very friendly staff and extremely knowledgeable about food, wine and the overall dining experience.

Simply incredible! We spent a long weekend at the Inn and reveled in breakfast and dinner. Claudia, Mike & Mary (Gerry was unfortunately ill) were all wonderfully hospitable, pleasant, professional, and helpful! Claudia's expertise as a pastry chef was very evident - desserts after dinner were delicious; her breakfast breads/pastries and special savory additions were wonderful. Dinner was honestly exquisite, the best we had the entire weekend - fresh, seasonal, locally sourced, expertly prepared and presented, impeccably executed. Our room at the Inn was generously sized, well and comfortably appointed, first-rate. The finishing touches were thoughtfully presented and much appreciated. Overall, this is THE place to stay and eat!

Mike Mraz, the General Manager, could not have been more accommodating or welcoming to my husband and me. Every dish is seasonal, perfectly prepared and most importantly, delicious. I highly recommend the tasting menu with wine parings, which were expertly chosen. The North Fork Table is our special occasion standby. Don't miss the fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies in the Fall/Winter months.

The appetizers were wonderful, we had the asparagus and wild mushroom salad, perfectly prepared and the sashimi tuna, also wonderful with a fabulous peanut sauce. The steak entree was terrific with 3 interesting onions. The Long Island Duck was requested rare and came closer to medium, almost cooked through. It was tougher than ideal and sauce was interesting but not one I would come back for. The prepartation of the "eggroll" on the side with the remaining duck was quite good. We shared the ice-cream sandwich dessert paired with the suggested dessert wine which was excellent. The service was warm, knowledgeable, and friendly.

This is an incredible place. Easily the best place on the North Fork. Food is fantastic. Had some of the best soup ever last visit. Servers are informed, and very friendly. Many very fine wines available by the glass, and staff successfully makes suggestions for pairing with specific dishes. It's tough to go anywhere else out here.

The staff here is just terrific and the food outstanding, rivaling Manhattan restaurants that cost more and are harder to get into. The freshness of the local ingredients is especially notable. I went for my fourth visit this weekend (with 2 young kids in tow) and was as impressed as always. They are kid-friendly but for everyone's sake I recommend families go to the late lunch or early dinner (i.e. start at 5) shift, since although the staff is fantastic with kids not all your fellow diners will be.

We've eaten here before and the food is always extraordinary. This time, we had a few problems. The service was not quite as good as it has always been, our waitress seemed very inexperienced. Our meal was first rate but the coffee, both regular and espresso, was bitter and watery. And last, there was a screaming toddler at a nearby table and it seemed this was too fine a restaurant to accept that as being OK.

although there were few diners when we arrived, we had poor bus service. the waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating but failed to oversee his subordinates. our water glasses were not refilled; our bread plate was whisked away when empty and we had to ask to have it replaced. even so, no one came by to offer us more bread. the sommelier ignored us unless summoned. as for the food, the appetizers and desserts were delicate and fresh but the entree of parsley crusted tuna was overwhelmed by too much sauce and too many conflicting flavors. other visits there have been more notable and pleasant.

The service was very good, wait staff very attentive. Atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing. The food, however, left much to be desired. Everything that we ordered was way too salty. We did not send the food back because it would have meant sending everything back. Chef has a heavy hand with the salt shaker. My tuna was overcooked as well. And the food was way overpriced. Sorry but I wouldn't go back and would not recommend to anyone. It was even more disappointing because I planned a special weekend for my husband's 50th birthday, and I really wanted to everything to be perfect, but the food fell short.
