The North Fork Table & InnGreat mother's day dinner!We arrived ten minutes early for a five oclock reservation....and found staff still at table...hostess still pasting together menus and not a bartender in sight....we waited to sit until about five after five and not once were we offered so much as a glass of water...a rocky start at best...once we sat....the evening improved by leaps and bounds....the menu was inventive....and well executed....we had the three course prix fixe menu and enjoyed everything....but my favorite part was the dessert! Each one was spectacular...i would go back for the coconut tapioca every day if i could....and on the way out the the restaurant gave us a fifty dollar gift certificate to use on our next visit...we will definitely be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNorth Fork Rocks!I love this place. French Lentil soup, salmon cakes and duck mousse where all delicious as were the pan seared scallops and housemade cavatelli that melted in one's mouth. We all thought the pan roasted chicken breast was the best of show. Served on risotto with porcini mushroom and rosemary jus, it was tender and tasty. We were steered to the chocolate caramel tart by an enthusiastic couple at the next table who were there for the second night in a row. They are invariably delighted. Everything about this restaurant is executed to the highest standards; the dining rooms are charming; the tables far enough apart that you can't overhear your neighbors; the service attentive but not intrusive; and the food never fails to delight. The three-course meal was amazing and the food not compromised at all. It was my daughter's 18th birthday and she has been going to "outstanding" restaurants since she was three and considers herself a "foodie." Her salmon cake reminded her of a good Dutch croquette. My pureed lentil soup was divine. The miso-drenched salmon was perfectly cooked and might be the best salmon experience ever. And the desserts -- velvety caramel oozing out of pure chocolate. Attentive waitress. Good inexpensive wine choices. Their service is excellent from beginning to end. They called to confirm the reservation; the greeting coming and going was uptempo and concerned; and their wait staff is prompt, efficient, and personable.
Their food is superb, and has been every time we've been their over the past five years. The portions are small, but we always are full when we leave and have totally enjoyed the entire meal.

One minor, minor complaint. The bus service was jarring - I finished my app and as my husband is spooning in a mouthful of soup, the bus asked if he were finished (there was still soup in the bowl). Same with a sip of wine left in my glass - I had to "claim" it. Then - when doing the final clear before dessert, we are asked if we are done with our empty wine glasses. The wait staff was verg good but we felt rushed. We would have liked to be served bread before the appetizer but that did not happen. The wine we ordered came after the Appetizer was served and my soup was not hot when I got to eat it. The same thing happened with the Main Course. It would have been better if the wine was served prior to being served the food. The atmosphere was lovely.
