  • must try the chicken!

We ate at no mad and from other review recommendations we tried the chicken. It's an order for two so for one to try it we both had to have it. It was so good we decided we had to come back to try some other things on the menu so we returned a couple days later. This time we split an appetizer which was very good and I had the suckling pig, which was good but nothing like I expected or experienced in Madrid. My husband had the lobster which was such a small portion it was pathetic. He left hungry and $160 poorer. We should have stuck to the chicken.

This was my sixth visit to The NoMad and once again the experience was rewarding at every level. Brilliant and refined food without being pretentious or precious, excellent and welcoming service, and an enjoyable environment. One of my guests was a restaurant critic from California; he was thoroughly impressed. Even if you've been here and have ordered the now-famous chicken for two, go again sometime: at my table, one of the chicken preparations was quite different from that of a previous visit. Innovate, surprise, delight--that seems to be The NoMad's mission, which so far has been rigorously pursued and consistently achieved.

This was probably one of the best find dining experience my husband and I ever had. We absolutely loved the decor - it was very intimate, a little dark but great for a romantic dinner or even a dinner with friends. The people at the bar seem to enjoy their experience as much as we did! Very great energy, pretty full, the service was beyond Excellent (if I could give it more than 5 stars, I would!). All of the staff members who assisted us throughout the dinner were not only friendly but extremely professional, presentable, well-mannered and provided great good recommendations. Speaking of food, we absolutely LOVED the Roasted Chicken with the brioche and foie gras, as well as the sides that came with it. I would highly recommend The NoMad!

apesar do ambiente todo bacanudo havia pessoas com roupas bem informais. O carro-chefe do local é o frango com trufa negra para 2 pessoas. Nunca imaginei que poderia comer um frango tão suculento e saboroso. Prato bem servido. Realmente fabuloso. Atendimento impecável e simpático e ambiente aconchegante. Só de pensar quero repetir o jantar!!

This was our second time at NoMad and once again the experience was phenomenal! There simply aren't enough superlatives to describe the stunning space, the warm and attentive, but not intrusive, service and the otherworldly food. My wife and I were thrilled with the experience when we dined at NoMad for my birthday in January, but we shied away from ordering the chicken for two at that time because we wanted to vary our meal as much as possible so that we would have a broad experience. This time however we had the chicken and if I may quote Shelly Duvall in "Annie Hall" I would have to say that it was truly TRANSPLENDENT!

My partner and I decided to have dinner here at the last minute, and could only nab a reservation for 11 PM. God, was it worth the wait! I arrived early to enjoy a cocktail in the bar (which was full of people, but not overwhelmingly crowded). The entire bar/restaurant area is beautifully decorated, elegant yet effortless. The food is positively superb. I had the suckling pig, and crispy skin atop the meat that practically melted in your mouth was perfectly accompanied by the greens and sweet apricots. My partner's beef was apparently some of the best he's ever had. And the dessert was perfection, warm apples with toffee cake and sage ice cream (this is one of those recipes that you dream of recreating at home). All in all, sublime!

The various dishes are creative and well prepared. The service is good without being officious. I was reluctant to try Nomad after my February visit to 11 Madison Park. 11 Madison park was 80% theatre and 20% food. The commentary with each presentation was silly. The food at Nomad is equally as good and the overall dining experience is superior to 11 Madison.

I've dined at The NoMad about a half dozen times, and it's always been excellent. Food is delicious. Chef James Kent has done a wonderful job with the menu. Service is very attentive and friendly. Wine list is great. Great cocktails! Highly recommend the roast chicken for 2. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, request to be seated in the Parlour Room.

The good: the food was outstanding. Fresh, original flavors, made to order (be ready for a wait), perfectly prepared. The OK: service. Server was friendly, but took forever to take our order, and then cheerily mentioned the 25 minute wait while the food was prepared. It seems that if every dish is prepared to order, orders should be taken in a timely manner. The disappointing: I'm not one who goes to a nice restaurant to "fill up", but my entree ($32) consisted of three bay scallops (halved) and a single shrimp, with about a 1/4 C. of sauce at the bottom of the plate and a small handful of beans: all of the above had been listed as "bouillabaisse". I was expecting a decent sized bowl of soup, at least, and an hour later I was starving.

Loved the Roast Chicken for 2, and the egg dish & the Foie Gras starters were very good. Some good not too expensive wines on the list which was a surprise. Service was fast and we were out of there in under 90 minutes. Our only complaint was that we were seated in the corner by the window and the A/C was freezing - luckily we ll brought jackets.

We had the chicken of course, which was excellent. We were in a small room with a large fireplace so the noise was not bad, the main dining area is cacophonous. My husband complained that the wine list was almost exclusively French, we prefer new world wines. The banquette seats are so deep I had to use two pillows to be moderately comfortable. Before dinner we had a drink in the library room which is lovely, though the seat there was also much too deep and no pillows. My gin and tonic was mostly or all tonic. The wines by the glass were pretty expensive and to me not very interesting except for the champagne which was about $26 a glass. Too much discomfort: we will not go back.

Overall, the Nomad was good (nothing special). We got the egg as a starter, the chicken as the main course and apples for dessert. Everything was mediocre, at best, including the Chicken. Not sure what the hype is all about and why it's impossible to get reservations in the main dining room. Save yourself the trouble and go to the Nomad bar that recently opened, their drinks are amazing (had drinks after dinner) and the food from looking at other tables looked great. As expected, the Nomad is overpriced. Worth an experience once but there are so many better places in Flatiron I'd rather go like ABC Kitchen/Cocina.

I was very disappointed with the highly recommended Chicken for two. I realized that I am not fond of foie gras, but even when I got around that, the breast meat was not so much dry, as it was rubbery and bland. Also, the dark meat preparation reminded me of Swanson's Chicken Pot Pie chicken. The Egg, quinoa, asparagus appetizer was interesting, but I wouldn't be interested in having it again, and the Milk & Honey dessert was fine. The Charlie Watts cocktail was very good. With so many wonderful restaurants in NYC, I probably won't revisit the NoMad. My favorite of this type is Nougatine.

Wow! Fantastic is all we have to say. We love 11Mad so we were really excited to see what the cousin was all about and we were not let down! We had an early reservation to accomodate a play later that night so the staff had plenty of time to spend with us explaining the dishes and wine. Everything was spectacular. We asked about the Rolling Stones pics (had read about them) and the general manager took the time to bring us to the kitchen, meet the exec chef, see the stones pics and the tremendous kitchen in action. Truly special. great job

We arrived in NYC without our luggage and had been travelling for over 18 hours, it was 1030pm in NYC but it was 0430am to us so we were not prepared for a good meal. We arrived and the bar was buzzing! It took a while for them to find my specialist Dusseldorf Altbier but when they did the temperature was excellent! Great beer selection. The food was outstanding I ate the Pig, the wife ate the Duck ever so slightly overdone but the choc dessert was out of this world. We took the sommeliers wine selection and loved the table, ambience, service and food. If anything this place is too cheap it knocked its competitors out of the water! When we come back to NYC we will be back!

Most importantly, the entire staff of the hotel and restaurant are so gracious and warm and friendly and very helpful. I return over and over again. Donna Rosenthal

For the main course we had the Chicken with foie gras, black truffle brioche which was amazing! The plate is served with the white meat and the dark meat along side in a separate skillet which was just as flavorful! For dessert we enjoyed the milk & honey. The service was impeccable and procing for the meal actually is reasonable. While never promoted as such, NoMad has much the same feel as Paris' Costes....low, sultry lighting, louche lounge in feel, great vibe and a cool scene. where it differs however is in the food and service. In Paris the feeling is you're lucky to be there. At NoMad you are a most welcome guest and the food and wine is exceptional. Our group was equally split among fish and meat and no one was envious of the other as we all thought we had chosen the best on the menu!
