This reservation was to kick off a
bachelor party weekend with my boys, and this really was a great place. The service was great, the food was high-quality and the drinks were awesome. The ambiance is awesome too, it's a great environment to relax and enjoy a night out."

Great place to dine before
theatre. close enough to the action but far enough to be quiet before the night life gets going. Fun food options with a wide variety of salads, apps and entrees. Food is a touch trendy but they will make it the way you like it without complaint. Loved the Eggplant App. Wait staff was amazing and friendly. Plan to return again."

Found this restaurant on trip
advisor and it was close to our hotel. Waitress was spot on with her recommendations and we had two fantastic meals. Massive drink, wine and beer list! Cool environment and interesting bar."

My husband and I are visiting
Minneapolis and chos the Newsroom after viewing their website. The food was average, as was the service. Nothing was unacceptable, nor was it exceptional in any way. While I cannot recommend this restaurant, I certainly wouldn't discourage you from giving it a try."
Dined on 2/13/2014
Clearly a draw and a gathering
spot for the under 40 crowd. Lively sound ( forget about conversation). No matter where you are seated in the main dining room you will have a sight - line to 5 of the 20 TV screens , sport's bar style."

The sundried tomato fettucini was
delicious. Good flavor, portion size was adequate. Great service."
Dined on 2/1/2014
We raise our own meat so it's hard
to find a steak besides our house that my husband doesn't complain about! Yet he always get the steak and complain, complain, complain; well he said he would pay $40 for a steak like this anyday! I had the BEST chicken I have ever had!!!! It fell off the bone and melted in my mouth!!!!!! I still can't get over it!!!!!!! Delicious! We would go back for sure!!! The only thing was the waitress had a lot of table to take care of so I felt it took extra time for her to get to us if we needed some thing or to come back to take our order. Which wasn't her fault. Recommend this place to anyone that wants a unique place and delicious wide variety of food!!!"

Went to The Newsroom, for dinner
with Family on a Saturday evening. Service was awesome and the food was great."
Dined on 1/11/2014
Friendly & relaxed. Food portions
were acceptable, alcohol drinks were a bit on the weak side. Our waitress was pleasant, but seem to disappear for periods of time... Not bad service just noticeable at times we were trying to find her at it was a bit difficult to locate her, but she was pleasant. Restaurant has ample seating space, and good size menu."

We stopped in after a show at the
orpheum. It was a quick walk from the theatre, we were seated promptly, ordered and appitizer (the eggplant) it came fast and was delicous. My group had pasts, salad and fish. The fish was walu and it was outstanding! The prices were a little high, but not bad for downtown, we got lots of food for the price. The service was good and the food choices were healthy as well. I would recommend The News Room."
Dined on 12/26/2013
never bad food or service here.
Nice size menu and good consistency with food. We come here fairly frequently, always a good bet"

This restaurant was suggested for
Thanksgiving on Open Table -- poor choice. Nothing Thanksgiving about it except for turkey. Would NOT recommend for Thanksgiving dinner. Ambiance is too noise for a family meal (we had to ask to be moved to a quieter area though restaurant was not busy when we arrived with six adults, one child and a toddler and were seated in room with television sets blaring from every direction as if in a sports bar). Service was SLOW and soup and main course food was NOT PROPERLY HEATED. NO cranberry sauce with turkey. COFFEE MACHINE WAS BROKEN!!! Will not return."
Dined on 11/28/2013
Convenient restaurant on Nicollet
Mall that usually has availability. Food was just okay at this visit - was better on previous visits. Service a bit slow due to large group nearby that was taking much of our server's time."
Dined on 11/22/2013
Went there before attending a show
at the Orpheum. It was a great happy hour with good food. I really appreciated the fast service and the awesome martini list."
Dined on 11/12/2013
Food was excellent. Staff very
helpful, especially as we needed a quiet spot for my 83-year-old hard-of-hearing mother who was visiting from out of town. Have two teenagers and they enjoyed exploring the restaurant and reading all the old headlines. Service was marvelous (Fernando?), food equally so. Staff even complied when we asked them to turn down the music a bit (see above mention about Grandma's ears). And the Open Table reservation process was so easy, it was unbelievable. Good job, all!"

we always forget about this place,
been here forever and it's always really good!"

My wife and I are here before
seeing Wicked at the Orpheum Theater. It was a fun place with good food. The theater was just a few blocks away. We were seated in time to order $4 happy hour wine that was actually pretty good. The food was tasty, especially for the price."
Dined on 10/26/2013
If you're looking for just a
spectacular place to eat, this is it. The food was sublime; I got the lasagna, and my boyfriend the steak; we also had brie curds with blueberry dipping sauce for an appetizer and creme brulee for dessert. It was all wonderful. The steak especially was so juicy, and the brie curds (deep-fried chunks of brie) were different and wonderful. The atmosphere was really unique and interesting. It was more on the expensive side, but for the quality and amount of food you get, it's incredibly reasonably priced. It was a perfect date night and I would highly recommend this restaurant."

I was at the NewsRoom with some
international colleagues for business. We found the food and service very good."
Dined on 10/17/2013
Stopped by on a Sunday prior to a
1:00 Showtime at a neighborhood theater. Clean, comfortable location with great decor. A variety of clientele including Vikings fans, other theater patrons and local downtown residents. Food was good and plentiful although it was interesting that they could not provide any wheat toast with breakfast -- apparently they were "out" even though there is a grocery store right across the street. The steak burrito was very good as was the green eggs and ham Panini, the hash and the Huevos rancheros. The potatoes were good but somewhat over salted. Prices were reasonable and the service was acceptable. The Bloody Mary was "Spicy", but we were properly warned and the beer chaser helped balance the spice."

I've been to The News Room a
couple of times before and have always enjoyed it. The staff and food were both very good. It's also nice to enjoy a layout that's not "cookie cutter" looking. It's conveniently located in an excellent part of downtown Minneapolis."
Dined on 10/12/2013
The food was mediocre at best,
especially considering the high prices for a so-so menu. The service started out fantastic and then faded after the waitress's smoke break."
Dined on 10/6/2013
We had a large work group (14
people) for dinner and the service was great. Our waiter was attentive and kept the atmosphere festive. Some of my co-workers had the Ahi Tuna and loved it, I had the pork tenderloin which was also wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their food and were happy with the whole event."

Great spot for gathering before
going to the Orpheum, right around the corner. WIndows open onto NIcollet Mall for a great indoor/outdoor experience. Food was delicious and beer list is outstanding. Fun, interesting decor. Would definitely recommend!"

I dine at the News Room frequently
when I visit Downtown Minneapolis. It is very enjoyable in the summer to sit out on the sidewalk dining area on Nicolette Ave and people watch while having apps and cocktails. The food here is slightly high priced for what it is, however not enough to turn away a fair number of regular and fun diners- like myself. My only true disappointment in tonight's experience was that we arrived at a reasonable time in the dinner service, and they were already sold out of a number of items on the menu- and apparently the sous chef was unable to understand some components in other menu items (according to our server). Overall, very relaxed atmosphere, and I would highly recommend the short ribs- TASTY."

For a spots fan and pre or post
athletic event, it's great. Our server was great and moved us to a quieter spot. Food was good."

We had wanted to go to The News
Room to sit outside on a lovely summer evening, sip a martini, enjoy a great meal, great view and relax. We make this a goal once every summer (as well as staying at one of the great downtown hotels). Better yet the Dakota Jazz Fest was going on. Unfortunately my husband broke his foot the day before. Never the less we were determined to go to minneapolis and The News Room. The weather turned cold and rainy ruining our plans to sit outside. We almost decided to give up an order pizza but then decided to hobble our way through the rain. It was worth every moment! Our food was excellent, the service friendly and the martinis were awesome! They also served as great pain killer! Highly recommended."

This is a glorified sports bar.
The decorations are interesting but the food is marginal. I had a "45 day aged New York Strip" which was thin and not up to a $29 price. Just not what I expected. One of our guests had the lasagna which he thought was very good. Pricey but not worth it."
Dined on 7/30/2013
Food was ok, drinks were very
expensive! Service was horrible!"
Dined on 7/14/2013
By dinnertime, the outdoor seating
is mostly in the shade, making it a great place to dine outdoors on a hot, sunny evening. Good menu. Friendly service."
Dined on 7/13/2013
The News room is a great scene,
vibrant and energetic. The service is impeccible, and atmosphere fun. The food quality is better than some, but not exceptional."
Dined on 6/26/2013
Arrived a bit before our schedule
reservations and the hostess seated us early so that we would not miss out on the happy hour specials. Thought that this was really nice of them to do :) Menu was really varied and everyone loved their meals, especially the burgers."
Dined on 6/21/2013
We went to the News Room on
Father's Day and had a great time. The breakfast was very tasty and they had a really unique menu to choose from. The ambiance was great, especially the bar sailing ship, which made the room look huge. Look forward to going here for dinner/drinks sometime."
Dined on 6/16/2013
We had a group dinner, and we went
back for lunch! Food was excellent and the server extremely nice. The place looks cool. Strongly recommended!"
Dined on 6/11/2013
Had a group of 15 and everything
was great! Our server was great and very accomodating."

Nice, varied menu with good twists
on routine menu items. Would return."
Dined on 6/4/2013
I went there with a group of 12
for a special occasion on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was not busy at all! They were out of 4 - 5 menu items, which was disappointing, but the food and drinks we ordered were great! Everyone loved the food and the service was good as well. No complaints."
Dined on 5/19/2013
I recently ate at The Newsroom
with a group of 8 people prior to "Rock of Ages". What a great find this restaurant was. We were able to sit outside (a lot of outdoor spaces) and it was fantastic. Our server was great, he warned us that two big groups were coming in (Prom) and that we should get our order in before them so we would make it to our show on time, that was great of him to warn of us of the big parties coming in. Love the food and bar menu. I would recommend this to my friends and will be back myself."
Dined on 5/18/2013
The food we had was very good, but
we were there on a Sunday evening and they had run out of most of the seafood on the menu."
