Diner Reviews
  • "Food and servce was great. Got there late before a show and our server got us drinks and good food and out in one hour."

  • "Great location for the theater district in New York City. Service was very good and the food was good. The mimosa did not have enough champagne and it had too much orange juice which diluted it. For a quick meal before or after a Broadway show this is the place to consider."

  • "Great casual bar scene if you're in the area. The beer prices are based on the stock market which is fun! A great spot for after work drinks."

  • "What more can you ask for than great burgers and a large beer selection. Stopped in for lunch. Enjoyed the food and the place enough that I recommended it to colleagues while in town. The Maxed Out Burger was awesome! Will definitely stop in again next time I'm in the city"

  • "If you are looking for a nice, clean and energetic spot to throw back some brews and watch a game, you have to visit the New York Beer Company. There service is great and food is just as good. It's a great place to head to after work with a large group, or just to hangout on the weekend."

  • "Never had a problem getting a reservation or walking in, even last minute. Lots of space, plenty of TVs to watch sports, decent menu w/ good food and plenty of beer."

  • "Not sure what I expected. The beer was great. I was there for lunch and while I really wasn't thinking of a hamburger, the deal with a half pound one with fries or salad AND a pint of lager for $10 seemed to good a deal to pass up. It was all OK, certainly not a great burger, but OK."

  • "Decent place to meet up with friends. The food, drinks and service are good. If you're in the area and are looking for a casual place to kick back, it's a good place to go."

  • "We stopped here after a show, and ended up splitting an appetizer sampler. (Choice of any 3 from a pretty long list.) All three items were fantastic, and I would happily order any of them again. Stout flavored ice cream for dessert was pretty interesting too! Beer list was extensive and our server seemed to be knowledgeable about all of them. (I don't drink beer, so she could have been making stuff up for all I know, but she recommended two different beers to my husband, based on his description of his preferences, and he enjoyed them both.) Full bar, so my adult beverage needs were met too. We did not sit in the bar, but could see/hear it from our table, and it was a lively group. Service was great -- friendly and efficient."

  • "The food was excellent, and the waitress was super sweet and not at all stingy with the unlimited mimosas. I would definitely come here again- there was so much on the menu that I wanted to try."

  • "For a quick lunch and beer before a matinee or lunch break from work, this is a good bet. The wait staff are really terrific."

  • "Been here for lunch when it first opened. We had show tickets-it was really cold & this is close. Though seated right near the door when we arrived, the moment we asked, were moved to a much cozier spot. Tables have the high seating-stools or booth style & a few have keg o'rators. Waitress friendly & welcoming & offered specials, food & drink immediately. It was happy hour & many craft beers and cocktails were just $5. Menu was varied, leaning toward pub foods. Food arrived promptly & hot & when it was noted one side was wrong, they rushed to correct the error. By now, happy hour was in full swing & it was very lively. We had plenty of time & not rushed out at all. An enjoyable meal & I will definitely go back sooner rather than later."

  • "The server was attentive, but food was mediocre. The New York Beer Company is a good destination to watch sporting events with a lengthy beer selection."

  • "... it is a good choice. Pub fare is well made, but I would not go there specifically from another neighborhood. Good selection of beers, but the female bartender was not patient, and the bar was NOT crowded. The table service instead was VERY good."

  • "Typical pub grub. Nothing special but a great place for a group to gather and hang out."

  • "Much better than expected. Not normally a fan of Times Square eateries but this place has a non Times Square feel and i would definitely return. Much more comfortable than Tonic and the staff is cordial and friendly. Our waitress Rebecca (BECKY) was attentive and charming. Food was delievered fast and was very good."

  • "Was in the city to see a show and was looking for a reasonably priced bar type atmosphere for dinner. This place was perfect. A nice variety of both sandwiches as well as full entrees. The staff was super friendly and informative and the food was served quickly and was very tasty. For the beer lover it is an excellent choice providing beer flights to sample a variety of beers and a large selection of both tap and bottled brews."

  • "We had a party of 10 and loved the long high table! We could see and hear each other and felt included in the enthusiasm of the bar. The waitstaff was fast, efficient, helpful and friendly. Great beer and food menu; Would definitely go back!"

  • "Stopped in for a quick bite before a show. Excellent apps and local beer. Reasonably priced, particularly for NYC. Friendly staff. We'll return."

  • "My wife and I wanted a moderately priced lunch stop before the theater. This worked great. Service was attentive and pleasent. Sunday at noon was kind of quiet but it looked like a great place for a little larger group visit. We would certainly return"

  • "Took a chance on NY Beer Company after reading reviews elsewhere. Probably shouldn't go to a sports bar expecting anything more than average bar food. And that's about what you get at NYBC. Flights of beer and your typical bar food of burgers, fries, salads, etc. Actually, got the crab cakes, not bad, but being from Maryland, definitely nothing to write about. It's a large space with plenty of tvs around, so probably good place if you've got a large group of friends just looking to drink beer and hang out. Don't go expecting much from the food though. Service was great though but being described as a beer bar, thought they would have more selections. Doubt if i'll plan a return visit."

  • "We went to the NYBC before seeing Railroad Earth at Best buy. Had a great time here. Lots of beer choices and the food was pretty good too. Stephany our waitress also made the whole night enjoyable. We will be back."

  • "Was there for dinner during superbowl weekend and it was a lot of fun with a good variety of food and wonderful beers on tap. Pizzas with homemade multigrain crust were amazing"

  • "Great vibe, but more importantly the food was solid and the waitress (shorter girl with short hair forgot her name) was excellent."

  • "We liked the local beer list. Lots of different local brews to order depending on your taste. The food list looked simple but was very well done usually with a great twist. I had meatloaf...sounds simple, But it was bacon wrap and grilled and delicious. The side dishes were excellently prepared. As were the appetizers ( crispy calamari and chicken quesadillias, both amped up on flavor. The service was great. Top notch all the way around. If your in the Times Square or Hell's kitchen area and need a break from high priced average food, try this place."

  • "Yes the restaurant is known for the beer but one would be remiss to not mention the food is actually very good pub fare. The burgers are truly grilled with flavors truly seared in. The Fish & Chips, a std. pub favorite are excellent and Malt Vinegar is offered, thus the restaurant understands the proper condiments. The pizzas come ind. or share size & options are excellent, while not CPK, excellent for a beer garden. Good selection of salads as well. Be sure to try the Nutella Dessert Pizza, beyond decadent. If you are looking for an upscale neighborhood pub offering with a great beer selection, very good food, a reasonable price-point, perfect for everything from groups to a first-date, you could not go wrong."

  • "We had the frittata white eggs and the famous burger for lunch. The food was delicious and the selection of beers is huge. Service is also timely and nice. Def recommendation."

  • "Though the brunch menu was limited, the food was excellent and we could not have asked for better service. Food was prepared exactly the way we requested, which included changes from the way it was offered on the menu. The waitress was more than happy to accommodate our every request, with a smile! The restaurant was empty when we got there at 11:30 am, which was good for us because we wanted to sit and talk a while with out of town friends who were leaving later in the day. By the time we left at 1:00 PM it was getting very busy, as it really is more of a lunch and dinner place. for us this was a perfect find!"

  • "The first 3 beers I ordered were not available. The entrees are not what you ought to get. The. Est I can say is this is a place for bar food and beer to watch a game. Certainly not what I expect from open table. I'll now reevaluate this site."

  • "This is the place to go if you love beer, but even if you don't they serve an excellent bloody Mary. American cuisine, great burgers, amazing fries, will be back."

  • "My friend and I went there New Year's Eve to grab a couple of burgers and fries. The website said that the price fix menu ended at 7pm and we arrived after 8pm to avoid the high cost. When we sat down our waitress shoved the price fix menu in front of us and said we had to order from it even though a bunch of guys sitting next to us got the regular menus and we ordering off of them. When we brought this to the attention of our waitress she rudely said we don't do that but I'll check with my manager. Nearly 30 minutes later, she comes back and throws the normal menus in our laps and doesn't say a word - extremely rude! Don't people like that understand that that behavior reflects poorly on both themselves and the establishment?"

  • "We were 4 adults and one 8 year old. Two had burgers. Eight year old had burger sliders. I had grilled chicken on flat-bread, and one person had crab cake sandwich. We all enjoyed our meals. French fries were hot and delicious. Our reservation was honored quickly and the service was knowledgeable and friendly. It was our first time here but we would definitely go back.."

  • "We needed a diverse, Americana, menu ... Perfect stop for the Adults, the kids, the College crowd. Food offerings were plentiful and all were satisfied. Great staff ... very friendly, helpful, engaged and personable. After a long day of trucking thru the City and needing a recharge before Broadway ... perfect choice."

  • "When we arrived, there was one table remaining that the hostess was getting ready to seat that did not have reservations. However upon our checking in the table was told they couldn't be seated, which was convenient for us. We were told our server was busy so someone was going to take our drink order, when in fact she served us for the first half of the night. All our actual server did was bring us the check. Pretty pitiful. We could never find her. However the food was yummy. Especially the French fries, some of the best I've ever had. I got a beer flight and found two new beers I'm in love with. I would definitely go back, but only if I had a different server."
