Diner Reviews
  • "Good food. Had to wait too much for bread/ water.why is the tip included in the bill???????"

  • "We've been here a couple of times and it's always been a pleasant experience. The cocktails are super tasty, though a tad expensive. I had the diver's scallops over parmesan risotta - The risotto was al dente, not mushy, which was always preferred. I had hoped that the scallops would be bigger. My husband had the filet mignon trio and it was GREAT!! We had to wave our server over a couple of times, but overall, everyone on the staff was really nice. We'll definitely go back again!"

  • "My family loves this place. It's requested often among all the competition at Westlake and TO Blvds. Nice bar area and lots of wine by the glass. I hop around the menu and enjoy it all. The kid loves the giant hand-tossed pizza from the kid's menu. Mate loves the salad with fresh lobster meat. We always seem to end up with the garlic bleu cheese fries to start. Excellent. Lots of reasonable lunch specials too. We will be back soon. PS - they are very accommodating of our serious food allergy. Refreshing attitude when it can be tough to get people to take it seriously."

  • "So surprised with their Tapa's Menu...awesome! We had a taste of three different items plus had room for dessert...also great wine selection!"

  • "I will go back to The Napa Tavern, but it will NOT be on a Saturday night. I loved the food and so did the three others with me (the tapas portion of lamp chops were stellar as well as the meatball appetizer, several of the salads) - but NOTHING else. Robert, our server, was distracted and distant - had to call him over several times for issues with food / service (he had NO sense of humor) and the cocktails were disappointing although selected from special drinks in the menu - one of my guests had to go discuss with the bartender what had been prepared and this was after the third request for our server to correct the error. The cheese cake was huge and delicious, but skip the key lime dessert - not good at all."

  • "The food was fresh and tasty. The waitstaff was very friendly and extremely attentive. The atmosphere is very trendy and the open kitchen provides a great smell of the food to come."

  • "They're Sunday brunch buffet is absolutely delicious with so many options from breakfast to lunch options. Made to order omelets, sushi, kids favorites like Mac n cheese and chicken fingers to a delicious dessert arrangement including a chocolate fountain! I definitely recommend you try Napa Tavern for brunch and any time!!"

  • "I've been wanting a nice Champagne Brunch, so when I got a mailer for Napa's Champagne Brunch Buffet, I thought it was perfect! SO wrong! First, the ad was deceiving-said brunch buffet is $19 and includes mimosas, but when we got there, the server said brunch is $19.99 and does NOT include drinks. One mimosa=$3 or unlimited=$6 (?). The "brunch buffet" was extremely limited, only offering 4 breakfast items: scrambled eggs that were cold/chunked from sitting, breakfast potatoes, dry French toast and bland, dense pancakes. The other options were nothing special and very heavy: pizza, calzone, pasta, buttery vegs/fish/chicken, Caesar salad, melon/grape platter and a variety of desserts. Not fresh, tasty, unique or worth even half the cost!!"

  • "I had modest expectations but was disappointed even still. We were given a table next to the bar that made it like sitting in a busy hallway. Not romantic in the least. They ran out of the one Valentine's special I wanted and the plates were stone cold. The service was hurried and the hostess seemed completely stressed out. Not a relaxing or even fun experience overall."

  • "We are frequent diners at this great restaurant and have consistently been thrilled at the quality of the food and service. Our daughter has a peanut and tree nut allergy, and all staff have been exceptionally considerate and helpful in choosing selections that will accommodate. Particular kudos to Angela, who is just wonderful! It's more like visiting friends when we dine here, and it is by far and away our favorite restaurant in the Westlake Village area, and one of our favorite resultants anywhere. Be sure to try the Sea Bass - our personal favorite, although we have tried many selections and been equally impressed. Highest marks - you can't go wrong here!"

  • "Thee wine was fine but not what I like. The food salty. The waitress never asked if she do anything for us like take the entre off the bill or get me something else. I felt rushed like I was cattle to the slaughter."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Will never go here again The brunch was awful. The food was mediocre and some was cold. They had a beautiful chocolate fountain with green (not ripe) strawberries and marshmallows. Very disappointed. This is Westlake, not Bakersfield. Terrible. Of not waste your time of money"
    Dined on 2/9/2014
  • "The food was bad, Risotto overcooked (tasted liked boiled white rice), filet skewer disappointing. What a shame the place is gorgeous."

  • "$5 for bottomless mimosas?! Awesome!! Plus, good food too!"

  • "We went to celebrate a birthday. Portions were large enough to split. Good appetizers, great main dishes, well-mixed drinks. A bit pricey for what we ordered."

  • "We had dinner at the Napa Tavern on Saturday, January, 25th. We were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary. As always the food was terrific, the service wonderful, and we just love the ambiance of Napa Tavern. We recommend this restaurant to friends and family all the time, and will continue to enjoy meals there."

  • "The experience was very positive. The menu offered good choices and our waiter was outstanding."

  • "The Napa Tavern is a very attractive restaurant. The wine list is solid and the menu is very varied and interesting, We all had a seafood pasta special which was ok. The portions were certainly large enough-we split a dinner size pasta and my wife couldn't even finish her half portion. The pasta was fine and the sauce was tasty and "zippy" I thought our caesar salad could have been a bit fresher as the lettuce was kind of wilted. The service was excellent and overall we enjoyed our Saturday night out with friends. Probably one of the better choices int the Thousand Oaks area."

  • "Food was bland - not bad but not great. Good atmosphere but dissapointing food."

  • "New Years eve dinner was a culinary disaster, it started with the makeshift table that was reserved for us, where perhaps for lack of chairs two of us had to seat in a 3 people sofa that was too low for the table and was sticking out of the side of the tables. the food was bad, very bad, the fish I got had a bad smell to it, the snitch of an old fish. To make it worse it was under cooked. The risotto was stale with a sour taste, in a very small portion. The pasta was average at best, as if it was some pasta with a can of Ragu sauce. need I say more?"

  • "This restaurant has great potential. The food service was OK but not outstanding. Table service was spotty.Salads were excellent. We didn't like the crostini small place at all."
    Dined on 1/4/2014
  • "We had a very nice Chardonnay and three wonderful appetizers for our dinner, starting with the Ahi Tuna Poke followed by a salad with pears, prosciutto and Parmigiano! Our last appetizer was a fabulous grilled artichoke. Our friends enjoyed a tenderloin that was also very good. Service was excellent!"

  • "Pretty good food and service. Had a nice but unremarkable dinner."

  • "I went to Napa Tavern for New Years Eve dinner. The food was terrible all around. I had difficulty cutting through my prime rib with a steak knife and the fish my wife ordered smelled old/terrible. Lobster bisque was too salty. The only good part of the meal was the salad."

  • "A little noisy due to all the NYE diners, but the food, service, ambiance is wonderful. Hubby and I usually do special occassions here and sit at the bar on regular nights. They always have the most tastiest dishes. I have yet to go there and be disappointed. Well, maybe I would say the diver scallops are a little small, but they are an appetizer so...we order from their larger plate appetizers, another great option. The patio area is very cool, don't be distracted by the restaurant being located on the corner of a busy intersection. When you're in there, the atmosphere makes it happen. All in all, I highly recommend...everything! Fabulous!"

  • "My girlfriend and I had our NYE dinner here so it was pretty packed. The service was very good. The hostess was very accommodating to my seating request. We ended up sitting outside with the firepits. No one was sitting out there but they allowed us to. Our server was very nice especially since she was swamped and she had to make a extra round for us since we were outside. It started out great but later some employees who weren't working that night came were we were with their friends and we're talking extremely loud. Ruined the mood. The food was good but not great. We had the scallops, sea bass and the prime rib."

  • "We have made it a tradition to go to Napa Tavern on Christmas night. All the stress is over, everyone is gone and it is time to relax and enjoy. This year we invited our friends to join us. My dinner..the seared ahi tuna special was over the top delicious. Our friend had the sea scallops with risotto, which he said was outstanding. My husband had the crab cakes which he devoured. Service was good even with the amount of people to serve. I will continue to enjoy Napa Tavern throughout the year as well as my Christmas Night dinner."

  • "We were so excited to take some friends to this restaruNt. Very disappointed! Wait staff would not clear plates, not fill drinks and forgot steak knives (we had 2 filets) As far as the food, 2 of the entrees came out cold...the third did not come out at all. Waiter forgot to put in. When it did come out the scallops tasted funky...like not good scallops. The manager took care of us after we complained 4 times and when he saw me go to the bar for refills on drinks. Place had potential...but we will never be back to try it again....too many issues!"

  • "We were extremely disappointed in this restaurant for our holiday dinner. Our table was in horrible location, there were screaming kids very close to us, the food was not good and we were over charged and had to speak with our waiter about it. We will not dine at this restaurant again."
    Dined on 11/28/2013
  • "We really enjoyed this resturant and will we return!!"
    Dined on 11/24/2013
  • "This menu is excellent with non-generic dishes that come through every time we've been. Quality chef, very good staff, love the food and it's the #1 most under-rated restaurant in Conejo valley. Reasonably priced and better than many of the most expensive restaurants around."
    Dined on 11/23/2013
  • "Beautiful restaurant with top notch food, wine and service!"
    Dined on 11/15/2013
  • "Our complaint was with our server, who was over attentive at the beginning of the meal, and then forgot about us when it mattered: when it was time to get the food to the table. I could see the kitchen from where I was sitting, and our food sat for 5-10 minutes under the lights before it was served. It arrived warm, not hot. On the plus side, the two of us who had salmon had good-sized portions. If it was wild Alaska salmon as stated, it was a good value. But it frankly tasted like farmed salmon."
