Diner Reviews
  • "It seemed like Napa Tavern would be a unique, singular dining experience, but it felt more like a chain and the food was the same as what you might expect at Pizzaria Uno or other similar chain."

  • "Great service every single time we go. We enjoy Gabriel, one of the waiters and we like their menu variety."

  • "Had lunch Saturday with my wife and another couple. The waitress (April?) was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed my Russian River Reuben and my wife enjoyed the corn chowder and lobster salad. Our friends enjoyed their lunches. The only mediocre part of the meal was complementary bread served at the beginning -- not bad, just plain."

  • "We've been twice now and have been equally impressed both times. The first was date night, the second was family night. Love this place. Was disappointed hat it wasn't more crowded on a Friday night, so we hope it lasts."

  • "Made reservations via OpenTable for an "after movie" birthday dinner for a dear friend. And while OpenTable accepted the reservation time of 10:00 on a Saturday night, I took the extra step of checking the Napa Tavern web site to confirm they were open at that time. All good. Upon arrival at the restaurant we were greeted with puzzled looks and a "sorry we close at 9:30". When we mentioned that we'd successfully made reservations for 10:00 on OpenTable and that the NT website confirmed they were open until 10:30, the manager's response was...no joke..."Yeaaaahhh. I guess we should fix that". Ya think? Thanks for ruining our birthday dinner plans, Napa Tavern."

  • "This was my second visit to Napa Tavern. I am very glad I gave this place a second chance - as the first time last winter, the service and noise made the evening most unenjoyable. The food was again wonderful, complex flavors, a wide variety of selections! This time the SERVICE was SPECTACULAR. Gabriel took great care of our table, even when we had food allergies, which required a new dish, custom-cooked. I would highly recommend Napa Tavern as a place for cocktails, a nice glass of wine, or an evening with friends and fine food."

  • "Something has changed. We have eaten here often but not lately. We will not be back as we took guests and were embarrassed."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "The three of us split five of the tapas appetizers, whichwere very good. The crème brulee for dessert was only so-so. The top had not been burned and we missed that hard sugar crust. The singer-instrumentalist was good, but extremely loud, making conversation difficult."

  • "We had the buffet on Mother's Day at the Napa Tavern and were very pleased with the experience. Or course it was busy, but the food was delicious, with lots of desserts for my mother in law. Sunny was a great server."

  • "We have been to this restaurant several times and it has always had outstanding service and food. Great wine selection and nice ambiance. So I thought it a nice place to celebrate Mother's day. Service was almost non-existent. Had to get up to ask the Maitre'd for a fork. The buffet looked as though someone had walked in bare feet over the food (it was mostly in crumbs). The taste was pretty bad! On top of it an 18% mandatory gratituity was added for reasons unknown! I probably will go back to the restaurant during their normal days but NEVER, NEVER on a Valentines or Mothers day or one of the other days when people normally cluster in restaurants. "
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "The food was horrendous. Eggs and French toast was cold. Fruit looked like it was sitting for days. It looked very unappetizing. Would never go back or recommend. "

  • "Went for Mother's Day brunch and it was fabulous. No waiting for a table we were seated right at the time of our reservation-it was great. the champagne was great and always my glass was full. My first time there and I will definately go back."

  • "This was our first time to Napa Tavern, and we went on Mother's Day. The cooked food was very good. I really enjoyed the breaded fish, crab cakes, and scrambled eggs with cheese and spinach, as well as the salad. Most of the fresh foods we ate were good, but I need to point out a few problems. I took one bite of the cantaloupe, but it tasted like it had not ripened properly and had an odd taste. The pickled ginger for the sushi tasted moldy, so my sushi experience was really unpleasant. Finally, a couple of the grapes my son ate were moldy. I question whether they were even looked at and washed at all."

  • "There for brunch on mothers day. The brunch area was in a cramped courtyard. The items were OK quality/taste wise but not variety wise esp for $30. You'd expect waffle station, omelet station etc. But only standard items you'd find at e.g. free hotel breakfast buffets. Sodas and coffee and tea were extra to my surprise. The dessert part was excellent which gets it an extra star. Service was OK. They appeared understaffed. Overall, not what you'd expect for the money and for a special day brunch. The women really liked it b/c of the desserts but overall was disappointing."

  • "Good food, good service, but on the noisy side. For conversation, eat outdoors."

  • "We were a party of four. Our waitress was informative about the specials, We ordered 2 of them and both were okay. We ordered 2 appetizers, the fondue was excellent, the filet skew at 19.00 dollars, took a long time coming out, was cold when served, and was very tough which I did tell the waitress, and she said she would tell the chef . I have a lot more to discuss, but thw web site stinks."

  • "Food was high quality and very tasty it was like eating in your own at home dining room."

  • "When we arrived on time for our reservation the hostess told us they wouldn't seat us at the specific table we had requested and confirmed in advance. She said another group had reserved that area earlier. This spoiled a special surprise that i was planning for my wife and the hostess actually argued with me when I told her that I had a confirmation in writing and by phone that we'd get that specific table. I was ready to cancel the dinner and go elsewhere when Gabriel arrived as our server and saved the day. He was gracious, professional and he even reset things so that we got the table we wanted. The meals were excellent and Gabriel waived the corkage fee on the expensive wine I had brought for our celebration. I'll go back. "

  • "This brunch didn't seem to have as many options as the ones in the past. Also, during the Mother's Day Brunch there was the option to order off the menu, but it wasn't an option this time. Overall, I was disappointed."

  • "My family has dined at The Napa Tavern before for holiday brunch. This visit the food quality wasn't very good. People were standing around waiting for food to be replenished. Service was horrible. The server only came by when we flagged him down. Will pick another restaurant for future holiday brunches."

  • "The service was good but I ordered the NY steak and the first piece of meat was fatty and almost impossible to cut of chew. Sent it back and received a new piece that was better, but still not very tender. My wife had the Sea Bass and said that it was very good. I would not order a steak here again."

  • "Good food. Had to wait too much for bread/ water.why is the tip included in the bill???????"

  • "We've been here a couple of times and it's always been a pleasant experience. The cocktails are super tasty, though a tad expensive. I had the diver's scallops over parmesan risotta - The risotto was al dente, not mushy, which was always preferred. I had hoped that the scallops would be bigger. My husband had the filet mignon trio and it was GREAT!! We had to wave our server over a couple of times, but overall, everyone on the staff was really nice. We'll definitely go back again!"

  • "My family loves this place. It's requested often among all the competition at Westlake and TO Blvds. Nice bar area and lots of wine by the glass. I hop around the menu and enjoy it all. The kid loves the giant hand-tossed pizza from the kid's menu. Mate loves the salad with fresh lobster meat. We always seem to end up with the garlic bleu cheese fries to start. Excellent. Lots of reasonable lunch specials too. We will be back soon. PS - they are very accommodating of our serious food allergy. Refreshing attitude when it can be tough to get people to take it seriously."

  • "So surprised with their Tapa's Menu...awesome! We had a taste of three different items plus had room for dessert...also great wine selection!"

  • "I will go back to The Napa Tavern, but it will NOT be on a Saturday night. I loved the food and so did the three others with me (the tapas portion of lamp chops were stellar as well as the meatball appetizer, several of the salads) - but NOTHING else. Robert, our server, was distracted and distant - had to call him over several times for issues with food / service (he had NO sense of humor) and the cocktails were disappointing although selected from special drinks in the menu - one of my guests had to go discuss with the bartender what had been prepared and this was after the third request for our server to correct the error. The cheese cake was huge and delicious, but skip the key lime dessert - not good at all."

  • "The food was fresh and tasty. The waitstaff was very friendly and extremely attentive. The atmosphere is very trendy and the open kitchen provides a great smell of the food to come."

  • "They're Sunday brunch buffet is absolutely delicious with so many options from breakfast to lunch options. Made to order omelets, sushi, kids favorites like Mac n cheese and chicken fingers to a delicious dessert arrangement including a chocolate fountain! I definitely recommend you try Napa Tavern for brunch and any time!!"

  • "I've been wanting a nice Champagne Brunch, so when I got a mailer for Napa's Champagne Brunch Buffet, I thought it was perfect! SO wrong! First, the ad was deceiving-said brunch buffet is $19 and includes mimosas, but when we got there, the server said brunch is $19.99 and does NOT include drinks. One mimosa=$3 or unlimited=$6 (?). The "brunch buffet" was extremely limited, only offering 4 breakfast items: scrambled eggs that were cold/chunked from sitting, breakfast potatoes, dry French toast and bland, dense pancakes. The other options were nothing special and very heavy: pizza, calzone, pasta, buttery vegs/fish/chicken, Caesar salad, melon/grape platter and a variety of desserts. Not fresh, tasty, unique or worth even half the cost!!"

  • "I had modest expectations but was disappointed even still. We were given a table next to the bar that made it like sitting in a busy hallway. Not romantic in the least. They ran out of the one Valentine's special I wanted and the plates were stone cold. The service was hurried and the hostess seemed completely stressed out. Not a relaxing or even fun experience overall."

  • "We are frequent diners at this great restaurant and have consistently been thrilled at the quality of the food and service. Our daughter has a peanut and tree nut allergy, and all staff have been exceptionally considerate and helpful in choosing selections that will accommodate. Particular kudos to Angela, who is just wonderful! It's more like visiting friends when we dine here, and it is by far and away our favorite restaurant in the Westlake Village area, and one of our favorite resultants anywhere. Be sure to try the Sea Bass - our personal favorite, although we have tried many selections and been equally impressed. Highest marks - you can't go wrong here!"

  • "Thee wine was fine but not what I like. The food salty. The waitress never asked if she do anything for us like take the entre off the bill or get me something else. I felt rushed like I was cattle to the slaughter."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Will never go here again The brunch was awful. The food was mediocre and some was cold. They had a beautiful chocolate fountain with green (not ripe) strawberries and marshmallows. Very disappointed. This is Westlake, not Bakersfield. Terrible. Of not waste your time of money"

  • "The food was bad, Risotto overcooked (tasted liked boiled white rice), filet skewer disappointing. What a shame the place is gorgeous."

  • "We had dinner at the Napa Tavern on Saturday, January, 25th. We were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary. As always the food was terrific, the service wonderful, and we just love the ambiance of Napa Tavern. We recommend this restaurant to friends and family all the time, and will continue to enjoy meals there."
