A word from The Musket Room
The Musket Room brings the spirit of New Zealand and the country’s diverse cuisine to Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood. Chef and owner Matt Lambert, a New Zealand native, created a menu that charts the evolution of New Zealand cuisine, from the country’s Old World traditions and Asian influences to its modern day dedication to local and seasonal offerings.

Inspired by an era in New Zealand when adventure and discovery blossomed, The Musket Room offers a modern approach to the country’s culinary past, serving dinner and drinks.

  • "If you are looking for an amazing experience you must dine at The Musket Room! The food was beautiful, creative, and delicious. My husband had the wine pairing with the six course tasting while I tried a few signature cocktails. The wine and cocktails were spot on. The staff was very attentive and knowledgable. The restaurant itself was so beautiful, I couldn't stop admiring the solid walnut tables and bar, the light fixtures and overall design. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We went to the Musket Room for my companion's birthday and shared a wonderful dinner there! Everything was perfect from A to Z! The food was amazing and the presentation beautiful! I recommend the tasting menu with wine pairing! We loved it! Especially the originality of the desserts. And, icing on the cake, the great service and hospitality of the owner who gave us a tour of the garden. We highly recommend a dinner there!"

  • "Absolutely outstanding and still a gem find, until the NYTimes reviews it. Well-earned, newly awarded one Michelin star. Food and presentation are very creative, cutting edge, delicious, superb. All the alcohol is way overpriced, but they have to make their rent somehow and the food prices are very reasonable for what you're served. Their perpetration of the recent fad of serving bread and charging you for it, especially without listing it on the menu with a price, is very underhanded and not becoming of the service, food, and so on of this quite fine restaurant. Will definitely return."

  • "Based on a recommendation, took my girlfriend here for her birthday - we each ordered the 10-course tasting and wine pairing. Our sommelier and service team were excellent hosts, the food and wine pairings were top notch. Favorites for the night were...pretty much everything. The gazpacho was especially a knockout. All in all, definitely worthy of its Michelin star."

  • "While the service was excellent quality with good ambience, the food was lacklustre, especially considering the exorbitant pricing. Whilst the menu attempted to be unique, a lot of the flavours either conflicted with or over powered one another. Several of the dishes within the 10 course degustation menu were left largely uneaten after sampling a small portion."

Re: service - I don't like being hassled by waiters when I want to enjoy a quiet meal and good conversation with a friend. The waiters were always hovering over us. We felt rushed."

  • "A hidden gem on beautiful Elizabeth Street though the secret needs to be shared. Absolutely worthy of its Michelin Star - the setting, staff, service, food and ambiance are stellar. Wonderful antipodean addition from the New Zealand team to New York's finest restaurants. Our served could not have been more affable or knowledgable and the food exceeded our expectations. Now just wish I lived in the neighbourhood so it could become my local!"

  • "This restaurant is amazing. The food is gorgeous in both presentation and in taste. My friend and I had the small tasting menu and enjoyed each course. Only go here if you love sexy food. The food is voluptuous and silky and decadent in its gorgeous flavors and textures. Your mouth is in heaven and the tastes are all sublime. The soups, the scallops, the reindeer...all perfectly gorgeous. Will I return ? How could I not ???"

  • "Friendly, reasonably competent service. Nicely conceived wine list. Bread was not offered; we had to "order" it (at no charge). Absurdly small portions (signature smoked scallop dish and cheesecakey dessert were about two bites each). Only one fish entree on the menu that night(cod); I thought New Zealand was surrounded by fish. The venison with flavors of gin was by far the best offering, and the portion was almost reasonable. The cod was just ok--certainly not Michelin star material. I think our mistake was not ordering the five course tasting menu, but with these portion sizes, I doubt that we would have left satisfied. I don't get the hype about this place (Michelin star & recent obsequious Eater.com interview with the chef/owners)."

  • "My husband and I are visiting from London and I found this restaurant on a NY Times review and booked a few weeks in advance. It was a gorgeous experience - the flavours were unbelievable (I had the duck breast as a main and it was delicious!). The service was casual, but absolutely spot on. I'm probably not the easiest customer: "Can you make me a non-alcoholic mocktail that's not too cold and not too sweet" and our server didn't bat an eyelash just said absolutely and 5 minutes later it was there (and was lovely). "Do you mind putting the duck back on the grill as it's a bit cold" No problem. Amazing food, great service, lovely ambiance - can't fault it, would go back for sure."

  • "We had heard this was a good restaurant and had pre-booked for 7pm. All four of us chose the 6-course tasting menu. 3 of us had the accompanying wine package. Although the food was very good, it wasn't outstanding and there were no dishes that really wow'ed us. We also felt very rushed as the dishes came very close together, we had finished 3-4 courses before we'd even been there an hour. The service otherwise was excellent, with especially the wine waiter standing out with his enthusiasm and knowledge, The wine choices were excellent."

The wine pairing was amazing – super interesting picks (mostly from New Zealand), with a fine introduction by the charming sommelier. I will return (and am sending everyone I know there!). GO!"

  • "This restaurant is trendy and has a great ambience. The food is very good and tasty. But be aware that the sizes of the dishes are very smal! The price is high and you spend some money when you hungry. The wine list is good but only one or two options under 70$ a bottle. The service is ok but not over friendly. Overall, great food but the price/ value is on the lower side."

Then crab risotto , roasted cauliflower,Orata (seabass)and for dessert a very light and fluffy cheesecake. Also picked a great Rioja,Hacienta Monasterio. And then to top it all, Bobby Flay was sitting at the bar. Great !!!!!😃"

  • "Very relaxed, beachy vibe. Soft lighting, chill music and white painted wood gave off a very relaxed atmosphere. Opted for 10 course tasting and was certainly not disappointed. Literally not a single misstep the entire meal. NOT ONE. From the amazing bread (pancetta, bacon brioche) to the velvety cauliflower soup, every course was delicious. This restaurant, in less than a year, have achieved a dining experience that many restaurants still yearn for. Kudos to the entire staff, very friendly and warm. I hope to be coming back soon"

  • "Came to The Musket Room as a result of a recommendation by a friend from New Zealand, and will definitely return. We opted for the six course tasting menu that changes daily, and we were highly impressed. The flavors match the artistic presentations beautifully, and we could not decide which course was our favorite. Not being a friend of cauliflower, I surprised myself by loving every drop of the Cauliflower soup with curry and caviar, and my husband could not get enough of the Spring pea cremeux, but every single bite of every course was a taste sensation and a feast for the eyes. The ambiance is casual but sincere, and the service outstanding. The Petits Fours and menus neatly bagged to take home were a very pleasant final surprise."

  • "Had the tasting menu. Most of it was good. Some just ok. The service is what stands out as poor here. When choosing a second bottle of wine the sommelier didn't show up for two courses. They accidentally brought out the pre-desert twice and then had the never to snap "don't you want your present?" when my friend left her envelope with the paper printed menu they gave us at the end on the table . (which by the way she did not want and I figure she paid for it so is entitled to leave it there if she likes) Those are just some highlights. All in all I wouldn't go back. PS Bone Marrow butter (a specialty which brought us to the restaurant to begin) with is off the menu. "

  • "My fiancé and I went to celebrate my birthday. I chose it based on Open Table ratings and availability, and only read more about it after booking the reservation. The food was outstanding, with several dishes in the 6 course tasting menu ranking among the best things I've had in NYC. (Hello, cold-smoked scallops, I'm talking to you!) My fiancé doesn't drink, and loved the house made shrubs. I had the wine pairing, and not only was each choice indeed perfect, but the sommelier imparted just enough information with each pour to be interesting rather than precious. Service overall was warm and gracious without everyone trying too hard. My only complaint was that my chair was a little uncomfortable, but once the food started coming I forgot!"
