A word from The Mint Restaurant Ultra Lounge
Part restaurant, part ultra-lounge, The Mint occupies a 7,000 square foot space that was previously a bank, giving inspiration to the name. In a nod to its past, The Mint’s centerpiece is the original vault door, while updated touches evoke a Hollywood Regency design influence. With every detail carefully considered, the interior features rich materials including dark woods and cohiba marble to create booth seating, fireplaces, a luxurious 30 foot bar in the main room and a specialty champagne bar in the co-ed bathroom. The interior space is highlighted by a state-of-the-art retractable lighting system that shifts the mood from intimate to expansive as the night evolves from dining to nightlife.

Audible pleasures progress throughout the evening with eclectic house and pop fostering energy as the day fades to night. If fresh air is your fancy, The Mint boasts the largest restaurant patio in Old Town Scottsdale.

As first timers to Mint, we were greatly impressed overall with the restaruant/lounge. The ambience, look and feel of Mint is just an awesome place to chill and take your significant other or some friends and let the night go by. Although the food was great, it doesn't seem like a place you'd want to wait to go eat at. I just didn't get that feel of Mint being a restaruant but rather more of a lounge/bar kinda deal. Even though it's both, I think it's a better idea to just go for a few drinks and have fun. I must say though, that 3-D light grid they have going on inside above the bar is incredible and pure awesomeness! Definetly a good spot to go to for a night out of town if a lounge is your type of deal.

Food did not seem to be their forte, but that's understandable given that they are more of a night out place. I would go back for drinks/starting the night off, but not for dinner.

Food was decent - $10 bottomless mimosa and bloody mary's are the draw. It's still a night club with cocktails servers trying to be waitresses so the service was spotty but it's a vibrant scene with good music...

  • Don't trust their reservations.

My friends and I came to Scottsdale for the weekend and heard good reviews about The Mint. The reservation was for this past weekend which I booked through OpenTable. A day before the reservation, they called and said they had to cancel the reservation. So we had to scramble to find another restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale that could accommodate a group of 14, which is practically impossible. The person who called had very little customer service experience (that's what it seemed like) and she had no real solution to what we were supposed to do now that the reservation was cancelled. The Mint really put a bitter taste in my mouth and I would suggest not making reservations there because they will probably just cancel them anyways.

This was not what we were expecting. It is really a nightclub/bar that serves food. It should not tout itself as a restaurant or be part of the Restaurant Week promotion.Appetiziers were good but the entrees were disappointing.

The restaurant is listed but not open during the posted hours. I made a reservation (for 1:30) on Mother's Day and received a confirmation but the restaurant was not opened until 3:00 pm. Why was this posted? I wrote ratings just to get this message in.

The Mint was an average experience for us. The food was very tasty and fresh, but the offerings were kind of limited. The service staff, while very friendly, didn't seem very knowledgeable about the food or the drink menu. We found ourselves just winging it. The ambiance was wanna be chic, industrial if that makes any sense. It was hard to tell what they were going for. The walls had cool retro pictures that rotated. The bar had a distracting but very cool light display. It seems like it would be a better bar scene than dining experience.

we waited 10 minutes to be seated but none showed up at the hostess desk. We then sat outside and no waitress took our order, even though there were plenty around. Even people that came after us got service. the whole experience was a bad joke. Left after 25 minutes. by then the hoses desk was manned but nobody even said good=bye.

Tasty small plates that invite sharing. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Outside area is very pleasant even though it faces Camelback Road. We were happy to sit outside as I think inside would have been a bit loud. It is an interesting bar environment.

Johnny Chu is the master chef and knows how to build a great menu with extravagant taste and atmosphere. He's more artist than a business owner but he's been spinning up restaurant concepts in the valley for a while and The Mint is a work of art and the staff is professional and friendly. Job well done!
