A word from The Metropolitan Grill
The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D’s. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls. At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the “Iron Wood of the World,” imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests. The Metropolitan Grill’s award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We came here on a free evening during a business trip. Very festive on a Friday at this lovely old school steak house. Both food and service were superb. Since I'm not so much of a meat eater, I saved room for dessert. The carrot cake was absolutely amazing and also added a side of Maker's Mark ice cream with it. Just the best carrot cake experience ever!!! My husband said his steak was truly special. Highly recommended--a very fun evening. Also they have a good wine list."

  • "I've always loved my dining experience at the Met. I will say that the "classic" feel does sometimes come off a bit stale, and for the prices it's hard to give a 5/5. You won't get a better cut of meat and the wine list is superb."

  • "Spending the month of July in Seattle, and when friends from Scottsdale were passing through for a few days - we decided to meet at Metropolitan Grill. The bar is authentic and fabulous, and just the place to have a drink and share some fresh Oysters!!! Dinner .... was incredible, perfectly prepared steaks, and we topped the evening off with cherries jubilee, prepared tableside!! Wow! What a night. Fabulous Food, and an extraordinary experience."

  • "Went for a birthday treat and found the service excellent. It was super pricey though."

  • "food was great, service was great, but they forgot the spinach salad! For a $200 dinner, it was surprising that they would forget a little detail of a spinach salad!"

  • "I have mutiple reasons to return to Seattle. If you got rid of them all, I would come back just for this restaurant. They have a great selection of premium steak. They are the first restaurant I found Iberico pork. The staff is helpful and quite attentive. More importantly, my wife and kids loved the Met. The place looks stiff and formal at first glance, then you find how warm the folks are."

  • "This was a very nice steak house with tremendous food. The Hybrid beef was phenomenal. Our server was great, very involved and enthusiastic, but not over the top. The atmosphere was a bit "close" (we were right on top of our neighbors) and loud for our tastes but it wasn't bad. I would have preferred a more intimate setting. Overall, great meal."

  • "We returned to Seattle and remembered eating at the Metropolitan Grill from 7 years or so ago and really enjoying it - they did not disappoint! We had their salmon (I know, no steak at a steakhouse!) and it was the best we'd had - cooked perfectly. Loaded baked potato on one and their tasty roasted root vegetables on the other. The only item that was a little off was the Ceasar - good but not as flavorful as we'd remembered. The waiter was great - stopped by just at the right moments and the sommelier was very knowledgeable and shared his knowledge on the local Washington wine. Will definitely return the next time we are in town."

  • "The food and services are great as always. I go to MG when I have special guests from out of town. Reservation on line was very easy and quick. The wait staffs are courteous and above all, the food is never disappointing. My guests were very happy with their dining experience in MG. I'll come back and I am sure many friends/guests would be back again. Thanks!"

  • "The MET is a great restaurant period. The diversity of the menu and elegance of the dishes makes this one of the best restaurants in Seattle. The consideration and professionalism of the staff makes you feel like royalty. The meals are exceptionally well prepared, with steaks that you can literally cut with a fork."

  • "I took my girlfriend for her birthday an it was great. She was very happy with my choice of restaurant."

  • "This place may be great for power lunches and red-meat junkies, but the menu and setting seem rather dated in comparison to most upscale eateries. If the "1950's traditional steakhouse" is the look they're striving for, at least do that right and clean the place up, hiding wiring and improving the windows and entrance. The wine selection is outstanding, as is the beef selection, but if you're not looking to drop a wad on rarefied beef, don't bother, there are too many other good options in this town."

  • "If you go here, expect good food, but you pay for it. The service is ok. But, for the expense of the meal, I expected a bit more attention to detail. They do have desserts that are made tableside and are delicious. So, save room."

  • "I forwarded the email from o poo open table that was titled "how was Metropolitan Grill". My girlfriend provided the title here. Amazing. The food selection was immense and the quality outstanding. The appetizer of almond crusted scallops was superb. My prime and her filet were prepared perfectly. The service by Jim was spot on. Thus is a great place."

  • "I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! It was a suggestion from a friend and he was spot on. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had the Sommelier come to the table and explain the wine list to us and make a suggestion based o our steaks. Definitely suggest you order the lobster mac n cheese!"

  • "It was hard to decide what was more indulgent the food or the service. Everything you would expect from this venerable fine dining restaurant. Exceeded all our expectations."

  • "Great wine list, found it interesting they talked up their "grain fed" beef- quite pricey but very nice flavors, restaurant décor could use updating- looked a little shabby."

  • "Walked in and table was ready to go (I hate waiting when I have a reservation). Table for two was to small to be table for four but way to big to be table for two. Having a simple conversation was difficult because my wife was to far away. There were some actors and football people sitting near me and the waiter seemed very interested in talking to them and less interested about getting us started with two glasses of water. After things got started it was good. The food was excellent and serviced with timing that allowed for consumption and digestion at between servings. A complimentary (thank you, 20th wedding anniversary) creme brulee desert (very tasty) was served without asking (not good) if we wanted to see a desert menu."

  • "They don't call themselves the Best Steak In Town for nothing. The steak was high quality, and the taste was exquisite. The scallop appetizer was also excellent, leaving you craving for more. Only thing negative about this is the time commitment. Expect to be here for 2 hours."

  • "This was our 2nd visit. All being equal, the Met has better atmosphere & service than Daniel's but Daniel's has better food. Disappointed in the filet as was not as tender as expected & scalloped potatoes a little dry. Great waiter though."

  • "My husband enjoyed the best steak of his life at the Met 11 years ago. When we decided to take a vacation to Seattle, I made OT reservations as a Father's Day gift. Our two young sons and two friends joined us for the most beautiful, delicious and fun 3 hour dinner. The prime rib, house salads, cocktails and desserts were fabulous. Our waiter, Roger was charming, funny, and very kind to our 8 and 10 year old sons (the only children we saw dining there that night)."

  • "I didn't catch his name but our server was phenomenal. Able to give honest recommendations on the steak and when one of the meals was served and the steak wasn't cooked to their liking, he agreed, and sent it back with no hesitation. Very nice and polite."

  • "The Metropolitan Grill is still a great steakhouse, little bit stuck in the 80's look, needs little bit of a modern upgrade. The steak was not as excellent as I remember it, but the prices were not as expensive as I remember it. The food was still good, especially their garlic mash potatoes. Calamari appetizer was also great - plenty for two people to share. We also had the 18 oz ribeye - slightly dry - and Banana Fosters for desert - which was great. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable... Just that the overall dinner took over 2 hours. Overall - great steakhouse - would recommend!"
