A word from The Metropolitan Grill
The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D’s. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls.

At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the “Iron Wood of the World,” imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests.

The Metropolitan Grill’s award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage.

  • Once again - great meal with one exception
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014

Great food and service, once again.... with a sad exception. Our waitress (Kimberly) was personable and attentive (but not intrusive) and made us feel welcome. The steaks were very flavorful - just what I expected... and the kitchen delivered. And the accompanying Bernaise sauce - yum! The supporting cast was also appreciated. Our sommelier was pompous and condescending. We've been around the wine block for many years and know our wines well, but this man was over the top. The Met Grill did not have a bottle listed on the menu so the sommelier proposed another wine (same region and a similar blend). It was opened and I tasted it, commenting that it wasn't as good at the Mark Ryan Dissident I was enjoying - this substitute was thin and it wasn't as enjoyable. My husband said it would be OK so we drank the stuff. Poor choice on our part. This wine steward is not an asset to the Met Grill. His performance and behavior detracted from our overall dining experience. Too bad, because the rest of the staff is such a pleasure.

I visited Metropolitan Grill with my family in a seattle trip. We really enjoied very well. Service, food, atmosphere, view - all excellent. Beautiful setting, classy , attentive service without being pretentious. The food is wonderful and a wide variety of choices. Excellent wine list. I will be back on my next trip to Seattle.

  • A Great, American Classic Experience at the Met

The Met Grill is an iconic, Seattle landmark restaurant and an exquisite dining experience. Know in advance this restaurant is easily among the most expensive steak houses in the country, and while the quality of the meat is very good, is it far from extraordinary. But one goes to the Met for the experience, and that is tough to beat, but not for those on a budget. :)

A series of events led us to dine at MG with my cousin who was visiting from out-of-town and my two teenage boys (14 and 16). I am glad that we went for this Seattle experience. We were excited at the possibility of seeing some local celebrities - we didn't - but were placated instead by the photographs on the wall and then the menu items. Our waiter was EXCELLENT, very friendly and extremely knowledgeable and patient with all of our questions. My 16 year old ordered the peppercorn stead and mashed potatoes. My 14 year old ordered king crab legs and mashed potatoes. Both - who are big mashed potato eaters - said they did like the potatoes. Both complained that they were too lumpy and not hot enough. Younger said his crab legs were a little rubbery. I had the Caesar salad. The dressing was not "anchovy" enough for me; and, although I opted for the addition of the actual anchovy fillets, I was underwhelmed. Younger ordered dessert - ice cream with chocolate and caramel sauces in a almond brittle "cup" - and that was delicious. : ) Overall, we had a great night and fun visit and meal with our relative. Elder rated the overall experience a 4 out of 5 and Younger a 4.5 out of 5. Would definitely go back to MG with any other out-of-town guest who also desired the same Seattle experience but might not choose MG as the next birthday restaurant; although, the nine layer chocolate cake might be worth the trip . . .

The steaks and sides were all good, but not what I expected from a longtime establishment like the Met. My rib eye (usually the tenderest cut) was chewy and tougher than a standard Costco rib eye I could make myself. The wine steward was somewhat abrupt and did not seem knowledgeable. His visit to our table was less than 30 seconds. While a good steward/sommelier should be efficient in their selections, I felt that he was not taking the time to understand our tastes and goals for our wine. It was clear from his vague descriptions that he had never tried the wine that he pushed us toward. For the money (or much less), there are other better quality steak houses, with more personalized service. On the plus side, our server was very friendly and attentive. The steaks also come with sides, as opposed to making you buy them à la cart like other places. The Met also graciously provided a free dessert to celebrate our anniversary.

At least twice a year, I visit the met with various friends and family. It is always a treat. The best steaks ever, and the service to match. We're always treated so well. My favorite is my holiday season dinner with an old pal. We've been going to the met for an extravagant steak dinner for over 20 years. To never have been disappointed in all that time is really saying something.

AVOID---So Very Disappointing! It was our 30th Anniversary and so I planned our trip and made a reservation through Open Table in August for November; the only request I made was for a table out of the way, off the busy path. They have plenty of those, but clearly were unable to make that one accommodation. The night before we went to Lecosho and the difference was striking; there we were well taken care of and even the owner Matt came by to check on us and chat. Metro Grill is clearly counting on their history to keep them going! If you want to be treated as a valued customer, pick somewhere else!

There were 4 of us and all had excellent meals. My only complaint is that the lamb was a bit too fat, would have probably ordered something else had I known to expect that. My wife had prime rib that was superb. The Baileys coffee was a great finish to the meal.

Decor: Bit over the top... luxurious steak house feel. Good cocktails and huge wine list although we did not find the wine they recommended to taste as the sommelier described. Steak: Went with the long-bone rib eye. The waiter warned us that the med-rare might be too rare on the bone in cut so we went med well at his recommendation. Wish we would have stuck with the usual med rare or maybe moved up to medium. The steak was flavorful and enough to feed 2 (we split the steak for a $6 charge)... sides were good. Service: Great except for when we were trying to pay and leave to stretch out a bit from all the food we consumed. took a while to get our check and then get it back after they ran the cards. Place is usual high-end steakhouse prices.

I have heard amazing reviews about the quality of the steaks and service at the Met. Our group was celebrating a special occasion and saved up for the $600 meal. Long story short, our waiter didn’t really seem to have anything to recommend other than a $135 steak. Our meals were served when we will still eating our appetizers. My stake was 75% fat and my boyfriends was extremely tough. We did get replacements, but by that time everyone had to go. Very disappointed, when spending $600 on dinner, I expected better.

A classic old steakhouse in Seattle. It did not live up to its reputation or our high expectations. the food was good, but not as good as Mortons or Mastros. The service was mediocre. Our waiter seemed unhappy and it was hard to get water refilled. Not as expensive as it seems. The entree comes with a side, making the price of a steak seem higher than a traditional steakhouse.

We chose this place based on all the high ratings it was given. It was very disappointing. The food was just okay. Don't get me wrong it wasn't awful, but when you factor in the price to eat at this place, there was nothing special about the food, service or atmosphere (way to loud). We ordered the filet's and both came out undercooked based on what we told the wait staff. My husband knew more about wine then their Sommelier which is another disappointing feature about the place. When your bill is over $400.00 you want to leave feeling like it was worth it not disappointed and thinking you paid based on their reputation and nothing else. I would NOT go back even if it was free!!
