A word from The Metropolitan Grill
The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D’s. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls.

At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the “Iron Wood of the World,” imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests.

The Metropolitan Grill’s award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage.

The food was great, and service at the bar and table was fantastic. Our waiter was very helpful guiding use through the various steak cuts that were offered. Never pushed us toward additional items and was attentive without being in our face. The Dungennes crab cocktail was really special.

Service was extremely slow. It literally took 20 mins for server to come & take our drink order. We decided to time when the server would come by to take our appetizer order, it was 20 mins each course. We wanted to order a bottle of wine so she sent the wine captain over. We gave him our preferences & we decided on one of his recommendations, a $150 bottle. The wine never opened up & we wanted to discus with him. he must've known it would suck becuz he never came back for our feedback! The best service we got there was from the valet guy! Anyway, the food itself was good (we got ohmi carpaccio, wagyu ny strip & filet mignon) but we still prefer John Howie's steak & service. Unfortunately, Met was not worth driving from Eastside.

I have been trying to fit in a visit to The Metropolitan Grill for several years now. Well, we finally had an free evening in Seattle and I made reservations a couple days in advance. It was worth the wait. The food was everything we could have asked for, the service was impeccable, and the bill was astronomical. Even sticking with the Prime beef, our steaks were in excess of $60. Having tried Wagyu beef at other fine restaurants, we felt that the difference doesn't justify the extra cost. The Metropolitan also offers Ohmi beef (a premier version of Wagyu, to my understanding) which gives you the opportunity to pay around $100 for 6 oz of meat. Sticker shock aside, The Met is a must for those seeking a classic fine dining experience.

Looking forward to great tasting steak but was disappointed with the toughness, grizzle, and quality. Have had much better in the past at the Met. We might return to try hamburgers for lunch but very let down with the steak. Tracy Rowley

I just went to the MET for my first time last weekend for my wife and I's 12th anniversary. I've heard lots of rave reviews from friends and family, and I am pleased to say that the Metropolitan Grill really does live up to the hype. Our waiter (Jim) was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. He handled every one of our needs without being pushy or annoying. He seemed professional, not just fishing for tips. The prices were high, but I knew that going in, and I believe that it was worth it. My steak (top sirloin) and my wife's (filet mignon) were the two best steaks I've ever tasted, no joke. Anyways, I had a great time, and I highly recommend the MET to anyone.

My overall experience at the Grill was great. It was clearly an upscale restaurant with a flexible dress code. We showed up 20 minutes early for our reservation and we're seated a few minutes later. Our server was great very professional, he asked us what we were celebrating and after dinner he brought a free dessert. All though the overall experience was great I did notice, we were not treated as well as the regulars I could easily point out who the restaurant was treating as more special and it seemed like the people they didn't care about where shoved at the back in a corner of the restaurant. Our food took about 40 minutes to arrive at our table which was a long wait, never received an explanation why but did receive a free dessert.

I'd been to the Metropolitan Grill about a year ago for my brother's wedding reception. The spread that was served in the Chairman's Room was delicious. This past Thursday (8/21) I went for a second-year anniversary dinner and was blown away. The ambience is warm and inviting; we had a server that was very personable and funny. I had the combination Wagyu filet and Prime filet. My fork just glided through the Wagyu and the Prime had an intensely meaty flavor. Ultimately, this was one of the most fantastic dining experiences I've ever had. It was unquestionably the best steak my boyfriend or I had ever had, or perhaps will ever have.

We selected Metropolitan Grill because it was highly touted on TripAdvisor and near our hotel. Our server, Sean, was very knowledgable of the menu (both food and bar) and made valuable recommendations. He was extremely attentive without being intrusive. My husband had the ribeye, which he declared was outstanding (and he is a bit of a steak snob). I had the halibut, which was perfect. We topped the dinner off with a dessert of Maker's Mark ice cream.

I'm willing to pay top dollar for a great steak and service, but the Met dissappointed. The server was rushed, and didn't seem to have time to talk to us or give us time to ask a few questions. 3 of us had steaks, and 2 of 3 were very happy. I was not pleased with the quality. Not that it was bad, but if I pay $65, I expect pretty close to perefection.

I am been to the Met many times, and this time was for my birthday. We were seated in an area with 3 other groups celebrating birthdays, which we thought was charming. Meal was one of the best we've had here. Had a top sirloin, usually get filet minion. Sirloin was beautifully prepared, one of the most flavorful cuts I've had. Hubby had the prime rib and raved about it. Enjoyed a full course, drinks, apps, dinner, wine and dessert - Wonderful! Service was perfect, even car valets were friendly. This is a great place for a special occasion or celebration!

The overall dining experience and food quality fell far short of expectations. Metropolitan is known for its steaks which is why we came here. But each of our three stakes was mediocre. I tasted the other two stakes in addition to the one I ordered. One of our guests ordered a pasta and crab dish. My steak, in particular, was overcooked. But none of the steaks was particularly memorable. One of my guests said the mashed potatoes were more memorable than the stake. But at $70 an entry, you're not paying for the mashed potatoes. The ambiance left a lot to be desired too; we were in a booth that didn't comfortably seat all four of us. We were in a long line of booths so could see people walking up & down the aisle all night.

We were escorted to our table which was in the lower level sitting area. The place smelled really bad with very old decor which has not been updated or even cleaned in years. The booth had stained and dust on the seating cloth. The carpet was old and dirty. The waiter was the worst. He only checked on us twice one to take the drink order initially and second when he went to get the food. The steak came out cold and dry. If you want to pay overpriced steak, poor service and dine in old dirty establishment, this is your place otherwise there are tons of steak houses in Seattle that take the food and service and ambience seriously. One of the worst dinning experiences in a long time

Tom and I celebrated being a newly engaged couple this past Friday night at the Metropolitan. We were in a time crunch partially due to his flight to Seattle from Medford being a bit late and also due to the fact that we had tickets for the 9:30 performance at Jazz Alley. Everyone at the restaurant (from the hostess to the cocktail servers to the waitress. to the chef to the bus boy) fully accommodated our short schedule and did everything they could to make our dining experience a wonderful one to always remember.
