A word from The Metropolitan Grill
The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D’s. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls. At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the “Iron Wood of the World,” imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests. The Metropolitan Grill’s award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The steaks looked excellent with all if the expected fine service but the rack of lamb was outstanding in every way. If course the food and wine is pricey as expected for big city steakhouse but for the special occasion Metropolitan Grill can't be beat!"

  • "I love dining at the Met on special occasions. Not a 5-star restaurant, rather, an old Seattle tradition. My only frustration is the service in the bar. The last few times I have dined here we like to arrive a little early and have a drink in the bar. Very difficult to get the waiters (or anyone in the bar) to pay attention to us. I usually end up ordering from the bartender by crowding up to the already full bar. Then, as soon as the drinks come, the waiter appears. They could improve the service here. Dinner was great! We tried the lamb chops that are cut at the table. This and the Apple Pie flambé, both served table side, are awesome."

  • "Service was great and food excellent. Would recommend for all occasions. Plan to have retirement celebration at the Met. "

  • "I've been to many steakhouses, and this one sits at the top of the pile. Excellent waitstaff, perfect food, tasty cocktails, and the best steaks we've ever had. By the way, so I can save you the torture other parents were experiencing: this place is not for kids. Don't bring them, don't have a birthday party there like we saw the night we attended. Get a spitter and enjoy your evening."

  • "The Metropolitan Grill had the most impressive assortment of steak cuts, wines, and desserts that I have every seen. Although the prices were on the high end, the serving sizes and the quality of the food made the meal well worth it. The blackened prime rib that I ordered was easily the most delicious steak that I have ever consumed in my life, without exaggeration."

  • "This is always been my favorite steakhouse to go. "

  • "Our server, Nor was excellent, extremely friendly, professional with the best smile. The food, as always had the best of flavors! And Kevin did an awesome Banana's Foster and shared a great story!"

  • "We brought a special receipt for a 2 for 1 coupon but were missing the card that went with it. They were able to identify from the receipt that it was legit and saved us $140!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary. This was our first visit to the Metropolitan Grill. I have heard so many great reviews from friends about the steaks and overall dining experience. We were not disappointed at all. The steaks were delicious. The lobster mac and cheese was amazing. The Chocolate Lava cake melted in our mouths. And because it was our anniversary our waiter surprised us with the Burnt Cream dessert which was completely unexpected very enjoyable. I was also very pleased with my Old Fashioned drink. One of the best if not the best Old Fashions made in Seattle! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!"

  • "The food and service were both outstanding as usual. My client specifically requested the Met, he has very good taste. We were not disappointed. The only thing I didn't like was our table. The location was not ideal and the server had a difficult time reaching everyone at the table. I never really felt comfortable."

  • "This is a very good old school high-end steak house, like you would find in NYC or another East Coast City. The steaks were excellent. Prices are high, and all sides are extra (as is usually the case in high-end steak houses), but you get what you pay for. Our server was very attentive and excellent as well."

  • "Fantastic venue, menu, food, and, especially, attentive service staff!"

  • "The prime rib and Yukon Gold mashed potatoes were super delicious. Couldn't ask for better food or service. It is quite loud, but we could hear each other in conversation."

  • "The appetizers were great! Out two steak dinners with bake potatos, disappointed. Would go back for Happy hour to try burgers and onion rings!"

  • "I found the food to be very high quality and the waiters and waitresses were very helpful. The staff had great character that made the experience even greater. It's a great place to have a special occasion with the perfect ambiance."

  • "One of my favorite places but this visit the steak was not up to par. On the dry side. Banna's Foster was very good."

  • "The food was nothing to write home about and the cost was high. Enough said."

  • "it took an hour to get our food and then they only served 3 out of 4 of us. My Halibut was overcooked (perhaps it occurred while waiting for the the 4th dinner). Service was inexcuable for a restaurant of this cailber. The restaurant did not appear overly busy there were a few empty tables. We have been there before several times and had not experienced this so hopefully it was an isolated event."

  • "Very expensive but we know that. Best steak I have ever eaten. Cooked expertly and the waiters know how to hype your appitete as they prepare the food infront of you. Asked about our experience twice. Refreshing to be served exceptionally when not ordering drinks."

  • "We try to stop by every time we are in Seattle. This like all the other times was a wonderful evening with truly delicious steak."

  • "Great place, traffic and parking was outta control. Was offended as we were lead to the back of the restaurant with plenty of seating in the main portion, but after 30 mins or so I was glad we were in the back. It became a mad house in minutes. The food was excellent (crab cake were just okay probably won't get that again, the Dungeness crab was the best I have ever had period. The Waygu steaks outstanding. I didn't like that it was ALL ala carte. My thoughts are towards the sides. Add them to the meal so I can decided if I want to buy more next time. I missed out on the mushrooms. The silver lining the waiter gave my girlfriend Creme Brule w/candle for her birthday. We got the Bananas Foster tho. We really like the Met and will return"

  • "Metro Grill is your typical old school steakhouse. Everything is very proper and by the book. I liked the fish selection, added a nice touch to the typical meat menu."

  • "Dined here twice within a month. First time the rolls were rock hard, but we had a friendly server. The prime ribs we ordered were good. The second time we had dinner here, our server barely said a word to us and our prime rib was mostly gristle. He bought a smaller replacement, but still not great. I would highly recommend the citrus mojito (non alcoholic), the lobster mac and cheese, and the portabello mignon. The chicken dish was okay. If you are going for steak, this place is hit and miss."

  • "Our party of 5, and were able to get a back corner table. This was wonderful, allowing all in our party to hear. I ordered the prime rib and it was chewy and tasteless. My husband ordered the halibut, and he said the same. I ordered my salad with a "little dressing", but found it drowned in dressing. I should learn my lesson and remember to ask for the dressing on the side. I also made the mistake of getting the "cheese sauce" on my potato, and I will NOT be making that mistake again! We had the bananas foster for dessert, but the server did not engage with us, and seemed rushed. It was tasty though. For the pluses - my white cosmopolitan was perfection! And our waiter, Roger, was excellent - very attentive and did not rush us."

  • "The Met is my favorite restaurant in Seattle, from the food to the waiters it is first class. My wife and I spent the day in Seattle for our 24th wedding anniversary and went to the Met after riding the Great Wheel. We had a great day and it was capped off by a great meal."

  • "5 Star restaurant in downtown Seattle known for great steaks."

  • "I was excited to have dinner at The Met. I could not have been more disappointed. I ordered the Steakhouse Chicken. My wife ordered the Blackened Prime Rib. Chicken tasted very much like my Wife's Prime Rib....like nothing. I have never had a piece of meat with so little flavor. The Chicken tasted like it was boiled (and look like it too). My Wife's "blackened" Prime Rib had the same flavor. For a $300 meal....it was not worth it at all. I don't cook and I make more flavorful meals. Save you money ant time. Go to Jak's in Issaquah. the meals are 100% better and 200% cheaper."

  • "They make the best pomegranite martini Ive ever had, down to the blueberries:) I prefer my Prime Rib a little more well done than most. It was perfectly cooked, lightly seasoned, yet so tender and juicy,, very flavorful! I wood definitely be back my next visit."

  • "Nick our server was great. He gave us just enough of the right kind of service. We found a wine favorite on the list and the steak was mouthwatering. Really nice date night."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "The prime rib eye steak was a disappointment. Very little marbling in the center. Too much gristle. Not large enough for a 16oz steak. Definitely not worth the price. The food quality has gone down since I was there last"

  • "Food and service were outstanding, always is. We were seated near a large party (18-20 guests), they were very loud. We knew that they wouldn't be there all evening and just waited for them to leave. That is when the evening improved, and that is what my response is based on. Have always enjoyed the ambience at The Met! Will be back, and next time if I was getting seated by a large noisy group like this one, I would ask to be reseated."

  • "My daughter has stage4 cancer and wanted to eat a nice steak so we chose The Met. Everything about the night was perfect! Thank you for making her feel special. She is at Children's Hospital now but will try to make it back at least one more time."

  • "8:30 reservation. Table ready for us at 9. Steak was not up to usual Met grill standards. Cooked to perfection but a rather tough piece of Kobe beef. Nevertheless had fun as usual."

  • "Whenever I leave a restaurant that I have treated myself to because of word of mouth, there is always one word that means there was not a thing I could find to complain about after leaving. That word is content. I was content, when I left The Metropolitan Grill. The food from the oysters on the half shell, to the just perfect ribeye, was the best . Our server/barman, Tony, was a joy. He was on top of everything and he mixed truly fine cocktails. It takes a really great synchronized work force to make a classic restaurant run smoothly. it was flawless. I highly recommend The Metropolitan Grille to anyone who truly appreciates a fine cut of meat cooked to perfection. Looking forward to a second appearence!!"
