  • "I've never been to a fondue restaurant before though i have been to some of the best restaurants in St. Louis as well as many other cities. The bottom line is that i'm sure that the melting pot is good for a fondue restaurant but i wasn't impressed with this type of restaurant at all. The cheese course was just OK, tasted strongly of the wine that they mix in. The entree' course was most disappointing. Lots of corn starchy thick sauces to compliment boiled meat - not that great. I did like the dessert course with the chocolate fondue and would consider ending a long evening with friends here for just that course. My epiphany at the end of the meal was that i really like having a professional cook my food if I'm going to pay for it."

  • "Had a wonderful time. The intimate setting was ideal for our anniversary dinner. The waiter was very helpful in helping use choose our meal and anticipated our every need. The food was excellent with many choices for a delicious four-course meal."

  • "Being "newbies" at the fondue experience, Brian our server was pleasant and very informative. We will be sure to go back and probably will take our son and and his girlfriend. Barry and Deanna"

  • "First time ever dinning there my fiancé and I had a great time there, great food excellent service. Had the special fondue in the Lou and it was great. Our server Chris was very helpful and attentive, I especially thought it was great that the owner stopped by to say hello and ask how everything was and if we needed anything or if we did to just ask he came by twice I was very impressed with that. Just a great experience overall."

  • "Fine as wonderful as always. I took a friend or birthday had never experienced this truly had a lot of fun. We were running short on time and we're not going to be able to do dessert without rushing it but server gave us a return pass to come have the desert and I later time which allowed us to enjoy the remainder of my dinner. Speaking of waitstaff they were professional and courteous and mindful of my schedule at all times. While it is a bit pricey the experience is a lot of fun and creates good memories"

  • "This experience was due to my girlfriend wanting to try this place..... IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! We had the best waitress Wendy. She was extremely attentive and helpful throughout the entire night. This was the perfect getaway spot for couples... Great date night."

  • "I took my wife there for a date night special and she loved the flowers, wine, picture frame, and the food. We spent almost 3 hours there just eating slow and our waiter was great and made sure that our night was special. The owner was even walking around talking to everyone and making sure that everyone had a great time. Great place and I will deffinatly be back."

  • "The food is delicious! Since they have changed their menu, it is also more affordable! The menu is available on their web site to see what they have to offer. Service is always excellent here and this visit was no different. We told our waiter how much we liked the cheddar cheese with the lager and he offered to customize our cheese with a pale ale, versus the Budweiser. It was delicious!! The cheese fondue, salad, meats, and chocolate are limited. However, the dippers besides those items are unlimited. I'd say the best part was the manager. The music was downright weird for our tastes (Contemporary). We greatly prefer a more blues/jazz/rat pack style. When we asked, she changed the music to rat pack style and it was SO MUCH BETTER!!"

  • "I had a great night with great service!! The only issue we had was the email I received about the event said we got a complementary drink n we were charged for them."

  • "My best girlfriend and I had dinner here for my birthday. You know when you go in it won't be inexpensive to those of us on a working budget ($90 for dinner for two), so be prepared. It is more a an event to spend some time together catching up on each other's lives and other good stuff. On this night, our waitress must have had more than a few tables as our glasses went without being refilled quite often. The food was as expected and plenty for two middle aged women to share. The dessert fondue dipping itmes looked a bit skimpy and the presentation was not as nice as we have had in the past. All in all, it wasn't about the food but the company."

  • "The food was out of this world, but service was an issue. We were put at a table where the burner did not work. I understand that problems can arise, but we sat there for over thirty minutes on a school night with two young kids, before I finally had to say something. If the server had bothered to check on us, he would have known. The owner graciously moved us to another table and once again, we were left on our own. The server again let us sit another 25 minutes without checking on us. Over two hours at a table is too long to sit on a school night with children. The meal would have been perfect if the food has been served in a timely mannjer and if the server had kept our drinks refilled."

  • "This was our first trip the the melting pot. We ended up getting there a little early and had some drinks at the bar. The bartenders were awesome. They told us everything about the menu and the ways to mix and match out meal to get the most out of it. So by the time we sat down at our table we were ready to order. The server was very nice too. He did a great job explaining everything that he was preparing for us at our table and offering entertaining service the whole time. As for the food it was delicious. We ended up getting a 4 course mean and each course was unique and very tasty. The desert of course was the best part. Sure it was pricey but it is a place that's outstanding for special occasions, not "everyday" dining."

  • "My wife and I visit the Melting Pot about twice a year to celebrate. This time was no different as we celebrated our birthdays and wedding anniversary. The friendly staff and service was top notch as usual and food was on key. We enjoyed our server and the new menu options from our previous visit. Highly recommend to those wanting a very unique and "special occasion" venue."

  • "We brought a family that was staying with us from Norway. This was there first trip to the US and we thought it would be f un to take them to the Melting Pot. The food was great however, the service was not so much. Of course this is a type of restuarant that you don't expect to get in and out. The experience takes most the evening. But we cou;d not get refills on our drinks, the main course came and sat on the tray besides our table for over 10 minutes before it was served to us. Very slow response to everythign we asked for and it was not a busy night. We felt neglected for a restaurant of this calibar."

  • "We had an absolutely wonderful evening at the Melting Pot. It was my husband's birthday and it was the perfect romantic spot for dinner. The food was wonderful. The servers don't rush you through the meal. Definitely a fabulous dining experience."

  • "You really get the bang for the buck. Literally. It's pricey. But my husband and I went out for a romantic evening away from our 6 month old baby girl and we really had an excellent time! The service was outstanding, not to mention the accommodations they made for us ahead of time, by request through reservation, were perfect! Nice view of Delmar, private and quiet. The server was informative and extremely friendly and attentive. The experience was so fun! Great wine seletion and food! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to celebrate again with them. Not one complaint!"

  • "We arrived a bit early and ordered drinks at the bar. The lady bartenders were both gruff & unattractive--fit for a dive bar or an IHOP. The wine was not what I asked for. There was a SCREAMING infant--I complained and they offered us a table far away. The offenders were not asked to leave. I am gluten-free and requested to sub terriyaki beef for unmarinated beef, and the kitchen forgot. Server said she'd fix it and then disappeared--by the time she returned maybe 30 min later, we were done with our meat. Her excuse was she had a dinner party of 13 year old girls. Seriously? I have much better service and ambience at newer, trendier restaurants and won't be wasting money on sub-par chain restaurants like melting pot anymore."

  • "Our first visit to a diff location was amazing. This time, we just felt ripped off. Won't be back to the melting pot. Food was amazing, but the waitress let a large table take all if her time, and the manager offered us more brownies at dessert as compensation for our bad experience..."

  • "We had a great time with our two 'tweens! Both are picky eaters but had no problem getting what they wanted. If your kids are old enough (read: well-behaved enough), it's a great place to have an early, leisurely dinner, unplug, and reconnect for a couple of hours. The service was fantastic, and staff is incredibly friendly."

  • "Service was good and restaurant staff was very pleasant. However I never dined at a Melting Pot before and its not my way of dining. The restaurant was full, so many folks enjoy this type of dining. However to me it was very pricy for eating boiled meat chucks. The constant steam at the table was annoying in trying to talk across the table and the vegetable broth aroma was constant and somewhat overpowering during the main course. I felt like we were eating the kitchen. Trying to cook the meat to the right temperature and keeping track of the various forks usually meant everything was overcooked. Not very appetizing to me. The dessert fondue was fun. In spending $100 for dinner I much more prefer having a meal prepared for me by a chef."

  • "This restaurant was recommended by my employer. I work in University City. I was looking for some place different to take my husband on his birthday. We'd never been here before. We were very delighted with our server, Brian. The atmosphere was romantic and private. It was different but very enjoyable. I love the idea of knowing what is going into my meal, because we had a hand in it, and got to see the fresh ingredients. We didn't feel overly uncomfortable when we left. We were full but extremely satisfied with the entire dining experience. I would highly recommend The Melting Pot, and will spread the word from this time forward, and, we will return. My husband said that this was his best birthday experience ever. Thank you."

  • "I had a reservation for 9pm on a Tuesday night (they close at 10) for a late night dessert date. Staff was friendly and helpful, but seemed quite busy. Service was a little slower than I have had previously, but nothing major. I put most of these down to coming so close to closing. The server brought the check with our food, but was clear to explain she wasn't trying to rush us, but rather avoid us having to wait for it when we were done. Fair enough. My one complaint was that they were going around wiping down tables and starting the closing process in clear view from our table which did detract from the otherwise great atmosphere. Thus, I gave 4 of 5 stars for an overall enjoyable experience with some minor flaws."
