Diner Reviews
  • "We went to the Melting Pot for our wedding anniversary. It was a nice time. We each had the big course and were pleased with the amount of food offered as well as the delicious dipping sauces. The place is great, but you must give yourself at least 2.5 hours to complete the meal. We had a show to see afterwards so opted for earlier dining (4:45). This was a good choice because it did take almost 2.5 hours. We would definitely return."

  • "We went for my daughter's 21st birthday. We love fondue and had always wanted to try this place. Dust on the plants above our table, crusted food on the edge of our table, one of us got dirty silverware. Up charge to have oil to cook entree. Four courses WAY too much food and not that good. Took over three hours. Waitress either in attentive or making us feel rushed. Handed us slip of paper for bill (over $200 for 4 of us) as she couldn't find a black folder to put it in! Not a happy experience and would never go back. We have more fun making our own fondue at home!"

  • "It was the first time my friends and I have been to The Melting Pot. We found it to be very enjoyable. The meats were falvorful, and the sauces were a great touch."

  • "Great place and truly a dining experience. A bit pricy for am everyday meal but awesome for a special occasion"

  • "Our server gave us the wrong cheese fondue, and the one we got we did not like at all. The dessert was great, but I was disappointed that when we asked for more "dippers", she came back with only two marshmallows, and we still had 50% of our fondue left. I left feeling disappointed as I was looking forward to the meal and felt as if I did not get my money's worth out of the experience. I will be back, but I will be sure to not have the same waitress again."

  • "Me and my boyfriend went here for our anniversary our waitress name Shana was awesome! She was probably the best waitress I've had ever. If I go back I'm definitely requesting her!"

  • "Honestly, this place is pricy but you probably should know that by now if you're thinking about eating here. My boyfriend and I both did the four course special and it came to $92.10 without drinks. The cheddar cheese was wonderful but I wish we had more things to dip in. I had the California salad which was delicious, even my boyfriend loved it. Now onto the main course, they pretty much if you a plate of raw meet with sauces and you cook your food for two minutes. It was okay except everything tasted the same because it was all cooked in the same pot and it didn't really fill me up. Don't go if you're super hungry or have a huge appetite like my boyfriend and I. The chocolate fondue we got was great. Overall, fun but not the best."

  • "The Melting Pot - Troy is not the type of restaurant you are going to frequent as it is a specialty restaurant. The cheese fondue would be fun for a couple or small group and the fondue-to-you was more than we could eat. So, we had to forego the chocolate fondue. The staff were very accommodating. Where we were seated was not pleasant as we were in the takeoff and landing pattern of every waitstaff for all the tables and while we were seated there were two mishaps with trays bring dropped in that highly trafficked path. All in all, our group had a great meal and a playful experience with our food"

  • "The 1st thing they should do before they sit you is ask is someone in the party is vegetarian bc of you are you may sit at a table with two burners. Then they should give you a timer to cook your own food"

  • "We had 4 course meal. They were so excellent especially the Spinach and Artichoke Cheese Fondue. All of the vegetables and meat were very fresh. However, the service was very slow. We spent time to finish our meal for 2.30 hours!! Another table right next to us that came after for almost 30 minutes but they ordered the chocolate fondue at the same time with us."

  • "This restaurant is the perfect place for a special occasion. The service was impeccable, the food is top notch and the environment is beautiful. There is literally no room for improvement. If you're having a special occasion and you don't consider The Melting Pot, your evening won't be as good as it should be."

  • "Not what I thought it was. Food was okay. Really don't prefer for my food to be "boiled". Waiter was great though."

  • "High expectations for this place, but once inside...the decor is dated, the paint was actually chipping off from the building and is visible from the road. Made a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The hostess staff was young, not organized and the bar was the same. Long wait to get our order and took even longer to pay for our drinks, because they couldn't transfer the tab. Table service was great, ambiance not so much. It's a novelty place, glad I can scratch it off the list of places to try but would not recommend or return."

  • "We've dined here many times. Always love it. This time was different. The radio was broken so the atmosphere seemed off with no music. The food was excellent, but we felt that our waitress was a little slow checking on us near the end. Our chocolate sat and cooked away before we could get more dippers. Nothing that would make us stay away as we totally love it there."

  • "Food is good. appetizer and dessert is the highlight of the fondue experience. Dinner is expensive. 4 course dinner and 3 drinks each was $130 + tip. Only one option on the menu is 4 Course option, Salad, app, dinner, dessert. I would have liked to see 2 course and 3 course options listed rather than ala carte'. It was a special occasion for us so it was worth it."

  • "Dessert was excellent! We would have enjoyed having more cheese with our appetizers. We ran out of cheese and had lots of bread and veges left."

  • "My wife and I recently celebrated our eighteenth wedding anniversary at The Melting Pot. The service was wonderful! Very nice and courteous waitress, forgive me, I don't recall her name, Stephany maybe? We visit The Melting Pot every other year or so. We have children so it is not an outing for kids. The ambience is wonderful for special occasions."

  • "Service was terrible. Waiter seemed irritated that he had to wait on us from the very beginning. The person seating us asked if we had a special occasion, we said yes, my daughters 23rd birthday. Why was that asked? No mention of her birthday by anyone again. Found the meat average 4 small potato pieces and maybe 3 pieces of broccoli for 4 people. The chocolate fondue was the only part that was good but really not enough chocolate for 4 people. Not one of us thought it the meal was worth price. We all agreed it would be our last Melting Pot visit. Very disappointing Birthday dinner for my daughter."

  • "Made a reservation and got there about 10 minutes early. There were only 2 couples waiting for a table (of the several empty tables), and the hostess was nowhere to be found. I stood at the hostess podium patiently and she came over but only to grab menus and seat the first couple; didn't even talk to us. When she did come back to the podium (it was about time for my reservation then), she stood there looking busy for a few minutes before she even asked if we had already been checked in. Then we waited for 10 more minutes (now 15 minutes past my reservation) before we were even sat. After that, the food was fine, but we had to wait forever for anything: refills, correction on our order, etc."

  • "First time visiting, still not 100% sure how to order still. Not explained very well on website or when arrived. Service was good. Food was good. Not many portions for larger groups for the price you have to pay. Very pricey"

  • "Why does the Melting Pot no longer carry the Big Night Out? Every similar option that remains contains seafood. My wife and I don't like seafood. What about people who have allergies? What about pregnant women (many of whom are told to avoid seafood). Instead, we had a complicated list of choices. Finally, our waiter backed down and said he'd 'pull some strings' for us. All we wanted was the one with three meat choices and the mushroom sachetti. We finally got it, but it was difficult. No mixing and matching was "allowed". The waiter said the last time he did it he got in trouble. We also noticed the salads were smaller, the plates of dippers for the cheese and chocolates were smaller.. We still enjoyed it.. but it's noticeably scaled back."

  • "We had five people and we were accommodated wonderfully with our table and with 2 fondue pots. We were a little confused about the pricing but our server cleared up any questions we had. We just got the cheese fondue and then the chocolate and we were completely satisfied at the end of our experience. I love that you can ask for more dippins! Very, very nice place. "

  • "The ambiance of the melting pot wa the star feature. The food was delicious but overpriced. I suppose you're paying for the experience rather than the food though."

  • "Took the wife out for her birthday. The appatizer and dessert were AMAZING! The main course took a long time to cook, something wrong with the pot that it was cooking in. The management were awesome and deffinately made me want to go back. We will be returning on our next romantic night out."
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "The Melting Pot overall was an experience, I would recommend that you just go for the cheese and chocolate fondue. The actual meal wasn't worth the price we paid. There are many options for cheese and chocolate that you can keep trying new ones."

  • "Plan on 2.5 hours for a meal. I though this was an anomaly but after 3 visits with >2.5hour dinners, its just incredibly slow service."

  • "Took my mom out for Mother's day and it was her first time there. I had been there a few times prior. The server was pleasant but took awhile to get us drinks, food, and was busy chatting it up with another table of his. I have always had good service there but it was disappointing my mom had to experience poor service for her first time there. Also the staff were not aware the women's restroom outside of the restaurant was out of order and customers were confused where they could use another restroom. My mom had to use the restroom and had to find her way up an elevator and ask a guard to allow her to use the restroom."

  • "Our server Brandon was fantastic. For cheese we got the Swiss Alpine and Cheddar and both were awesome. We did the citrusy cooking style he recommended for the seafood which was better than the oil we usually opt for. Of course, the chocolate was amazing too!"

  • "On Sunday May 4th I treated my lady-friend, step-father, and my mother to a late lunch at The Melting Pot in Troy, MI. The décor was modern, tasteful, and inviting. The server, Brandon B. possessed politeness, etiquette, and good grooming. He gave us easy to understand cooking and safety instructions as he presented the abundant food. I pre-ordered The Four Course Experience. The house salad with house dressing was tasty and refreshing. The cheese appetizer and main course fondues were fun to dip and twirl and satisfying to eat. All four of us wondered how the marinades and dry rubs stayed on the meats during the cooking process. Our dessert fondue of Pure Chocolate which is a (sweet) meal all by itself was wonderful. We'll be Back. "
