This was our third trip to the MP and we always enjoy our evenings there. This time the server wasn't very responsive coming back to our table with items he'd forgotten. His personality was great, however, his memory was lacking. If the waitstaff asks if we need anything, we feel it's important to actually bring it. Food was outstanding as usual, reservation time was on the mark, and we of course will return. There is no substitute for the meling pot! Also, after we got home we noticed that we were charged for 4 coffees not 3 -- a little thing, but it bothered me later.

  • The whole concept of The Melting
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 5/6/2008
The whole concept of The Melting Pot is unique, this is the only place that I know of where you 'cook' your own food at the table, and one of very few were the food is cooked at your table (some Asian restaraunts do this too, but very rare). The ambiance is wonderfull, especially for a date. All the tables are reasonably private booths, and the atmosphere is quiet. This was a first date for us, and my date was very pleased with eating at The Melting Pot. I imagine children would enjoy this too, but they would have to be very well controlled, as the contents of the pot is boiling for the main meal, and that could be very dangerous if dumped. Also the pot itself, handle, and burner insert all get very hot.

The service was horrid. It was a birthday dinner and a special occasion. The waitress kept forgetting to bring us things we requested, barely checked on us, and forgot to do certain thiongs like flambe the chocolate (which is a really nice touch). However, since we were a party of 7, gratuity of 18% was included. So she received a $55 tip for lousy service. We'll have to think long and hard about going again. The food was very good though.

I actually have never bben to a melting pot. I made a reservation for 3 at 7:00. We got there around 6:40 we were not seated until at least 7:30. There were people who arrived well after us and got seated before us. So when we approached someone about it we were told that they were probaly seated before us because they had an earlier reservation. My point is if they had a reservation before us then they would of been there before us and seated when they came in. We might of been okay with everything but we were given such an attitude and no room for discussion. Anyways we went about our dinner without anyone talking with us. So for a long trip that I made and the money I spent there I am not sure I will be visiting the one here in Mass.

The service was poor, the waiter did not know much about wine and had difficulty making a recommendation. He also, poured the wine spilling it on the table and his first pour for a taste was too small. In addition, it took over 15 minutes just to get the wine to the table. The bathrooms were horrendous, it was early in the evening and no toliet paper, towels on the floor and water all over the sinks. The food was just okay, this diner was not worth the money. The service was so slow, that most of the water steamed out of the pot before the cheese arrived at the table.I had to turn the burner down myself because we were left alone too long and had to talk through a cloud of steam, we recieved a steam facial sitting in front of the boiling water.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

You have to cook your own food. Raw veggi's, chicken, pork, steak, lobster and shrimp all in the same pot of boiling broth. But ours wasen't boiling or on. So we were left sitting there starving, waiting for a very long time for a little bite to cook. We told the waitress it was not cooking after about 10 minutes of wondering were she was, she told us the burner was unpluged. Great, it's our aniversary, we have a babysitter for our kid, we came out for a nice dinner, found out we have to cook our own, we're pretty hungry by now, and all the manager says is, "sorry, we'll buy you two a drink". Wow, so we pay $140, for uncooked food that wasen't our fault and all you can say is sorry, we'll buy you two drinks? Overall, we will not be back!

We showed up on time for our reservations and waited 15-20 mins before we were seated. Once seated we were left alone for another 20 mins before seeing a water server or our waitress. Apparently we were seated in an area that wasn't where the waitress had been waiting tables. We went out for my wife's birthday and it turned out to be a not so happy birthday. The food was the better part of the evening. We won't be going back for dinner but in the future will return to sit in the bar and enjoy dessert.

I was prompted to try The Melting Pot after seeing an ad in the Entertainment Book. I thought my family would enjoy a fondue restaurant, plus it was my birthday and I wanted to try a new restaurant. We arrived at 6:45pm (late, due traffic). We ordered the four course meal "special". The cheese fondue was not so good, but I enjoyed the salad. At 8:50pm, the meat entree arrived. It was alright, the jerk sirloin was my favorite. The Pure Chocolate fondue dessert was everyone's favorite. At 10:15p, we were ready to leave, however, we had not received the check yet. The wait staff was nice, however, I would not return to The Melting Pot because I thought the price was too high and the service slow. I think 3 1/2 hours is excessive.

We were very impressed with the service at the Melting Pot. The experience was very unique, but being my own cook wasn't all that great. This is defiantly a novelty dinner experience that everyone should try at least once. We did find the food was a bit bland for our taste, but did walk away satisfied. We really enjoyed our dinner it was our first time at the melting pot and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The time spent was a little long it took 3 hours to get through our whole four course dinner we did the big night out so it was longer than expected we had to stand up to stretch a few times. But overall we had a great experience and was nice to try something different. I especially liked how the waitress asked us a little about our stay and later in the dinner the manager came over asking how everything was and since the waitress told him why we came he knew a little about us which gave it a real nice caring feeling that they really take care of there customers and we felt less like customers and more like company. This was our second time to the Meting Pot and we are not certain that we will return due to the poor service received. The food was great, however our server Laurel, was very slow. It took over 30 minutes to receive our 1st course which was the cheese. We waited over 15 minutes after receiving our salads for her to bring out the main course fondue broth. It was over 30 minutes after she brought our broth that she finally brought our meats. Our first time everything was brought timely and flowed together great. Had this been our first texperience we probably would have thought that was how the service was supposed to be and never returned. Very disappointed. We were celebrating a birthday and didn't want to stay for dessert.

Excellent time! Made reservations online and they were spot on. The waitress helped us out greatly since it was our first time there. Made some recommendations and they were superb. Needless to say service was OUTSTANDING. Booths were far enough apart so you had some space. We thought the food was wonderful too. Great Caesar salad...those Parmesan crusted pine nuts were delicious. Took about two hours from sitting down and finishing with dessert (loved the chocolate with Baileys). Nice time to relax and enjoy the fun of fondue for the two of us on our anniversay. Would definately go back with some friends to share the experience.

This is the second time we have enjoyed The Melting Pot and it was a total blast! My friends and I don't have much time together and the atmosphere and food style allows a lot of private 'discussion' time. The only 'complaint' would be that the server became a little distracted with another table that came in after us and I found that our service declined a bit as the evening progressed. The service was more than great, the ambiance was incredible - such serene and intimate settings. The menu had such a great variety, and the food was very good. The Melting Pot is at or near the top five places for me to dine, especially when friends and relatives visit from out of town.
