The Melting Pot - St PetersburgYou receive what you pay forThis is a pricey place. There's no doubt about that. However, you receive what you pay for. The attention to detail is fantastic.
We were celebrating my son's high school graduation and I noted this when I made the reservation. When we arrived, the hostess asked which of us was William and congratulated him and handed him an envelope. The envelope held a card which had been signed by EVERYONE who worked there. There was probably 30 signatures on it. The server, bus person, water person & manager also took time to congratulate him. The reason I selected The Melting Pot is because the experience is not rushed. We chose the four course meal and got to take our time cooking and enjoying the different courses. We spent close to 2 1/2 hours sitting at the table, enjoying our wine, having great conversation and enjoying the different flavors. No one rushes you, and with the high walls surrounding the booth, it's a very private dining experience. My only disappointment was that we got the booth closest to the door, so everyone in the bar waiting for a table was looking right at us. Everyone coming and going from the restaurant walked right by us. Definitely an asset to the restaurant. The new dishes on the menu were a fantastic addition. The food is fabulous. The portions are just right. I highly recommend the "4-Course Experience". You get the entire Melting Pot experience in one package. Our dining experience took 2 hours but we were never left waiting. They give you just enough time for each course before bringing the next course. Our service was exceptional. We were both most happy with our first visit to your place. My maitre de was very polite curteous and personable. He set the atmsphere for the rest of the evening. He did not give a recorded monotone speech about the restaurant. He enjoyed his job and gave helpful description and suggestions. We were there for dessert only. That was perfectly fine for our bubbly server he gave us further descriptions of what she thought my fiances my enjoy. The Yin and Yang chocalate for two was appeasing to observe and spectacular in taste. My only disappointment this visit was that we had the misfortune of being seated next to a large group who were inconsiderately loud, to the point that it severely restricted conversation at our own table. As we were also a large group, it was not an option to move. I don not blame the restaurant, as it would be exceedingly awkward for the restaurant staff to point out the other party's rudeness. I have been to this restaurant countless times and this is the only time we have had this problem, so it does not lessen my opinion at all. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and when we sat down at our table they presented us with a card which I thought was a very sweet touch.
