The Melting Pot - RochesterAnniversary to rememberRomantic! My second visit to The Melting Pot; my husband's first - we will NEVER forget it. Our server was extremely helpful in introducing the experience of fondue. Every staff member had his/her own way of ensuring our pleasure. Photo and gift options were fun too! The food was divine and the ambiance was like Hibachi on a mellow note. No music was strange at first, but wonderful as it provided the perfect setting for engaging conversation while the most unforgettable expressions came over my husband's face with each new flavorful course. His palette will never be the same. Could easily return for just dessert or cheese courses, but will be really hard not to go full 4 course! This time I really enjoyed the Seasoned Choice Angus Sirloin, juicy, tender and a lot of flavor! I also love the new menu, where you can order just what you feel like eating. Small disappointment, they were out of all dessert wines: no ice wine, no port, nothing. The Melting Pot was great for this because the seating was private, so we did not feel crowded, and we were able to enjoy a new eating style, different from the standard restaurant experience. This is the third time eating at the Rochester Melting Pot and it is definitely high on my list of restaurants. Service is always top-notch, food is excellent and decor is wonderful. Our waiter was fabulous! He checked in on us frequently and was accommodating to our special request of just fruit as the dippers with chocolate fondue instead of brownies, cheesecake, etc as we are watching our waistlines.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and quiet placeWe have eaten here many times before, and always enjoy the food. My wife and I dined early on a Thursday evening (6:30), and were put in a small booth in the back as opposed to the main dining area. We enjoyed the relative quiet and were very pleased that our server (as well as others, including the manager) checked on us frequently and kept the course coming at an appropirate pace. The waiter was very attentive and described the menu for us. We had the restaurant week 4 course menu which allowed us to sample lots of food at a better price. If we had ordered these ala carte it would have been very expensive (in my opinion!). I loved the decorating of the restaurant and it was very private for a romantic dinner. Food was very good. We had a sampling of the meats, our favorite was the sirloin beef. Didn't love the all dipping sauces but did like the terriaki and sweet & sour. It was the first time we were there for the four course experience as our other two trips were dessert only. We went for my birthday with my husband and 2 girls. Dan the waiter was incredible. Being our first time there, he explained the process and menus with great detail and helped us out further when we still had questions. He made suggestions for dips that gave us an array of flavors to try for our first time. The "kids" menu was perfect for my picky eater children and 2 days later they are still talking about it and wondering when we can go back. The Melting Pot will probably be a Birthday tradition! Dan asked if we were there for a celebration, and surprised us with a candle lit Happy Birthday Cheesecake, 2 glasses of champagne and 2 glasses of ginger ale for the kids. I was very impressed by the classy atmosphere, as I had been expecting something a little more casual. The restaurant is set up with many little two person nooks that make for an intimate dinner, if desired. There was also a more open area with booths for larger parties. My server explained the menu and also what she was doing as she mixed the fondue ingredients into the pot. The food was excellent!
