This is not a huge deal, but the booth we sat in was fairly small. I'm 6'2 and have long legs which were pretty crammed under the table. But it seemed a bit odd that price-point was so high and ALL of the weight staff and hostesses were so underdressed. It seemed like a big mismatch to be served by someone who was so underdressed. Also, I called before making the reservation to make sure that we could use a special and was told that I could. When I got there, our watress said that special was over but did give it to us anyway. It was nice of her to give it to us, but she seemed irritated with us for the entire meal - which felt not so good. I would think that someone working for such a high price-point tip would act a bit friendlier. Our waitress was excellent and the food was incredible. I'd been to The Melting Pot a few times before (although not the Reston location), but it was my mom's first experience.
There was a special menu and when they called to confirm my reservation, I had the option of having a gift bag with a balloon, lotion, a small candle and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for her on the table. For those that haven't been there in a while, note that the restaurant is now at Plaza America (across the Toll road) . The food was good, as usual. Also, we told the waiter we don't eat mushrooms, broccoli, etc., and they brought out more of the other foods, to compensate. My only comment/compliant is the front desk would make rounds, I assume, to check to see where people were with meals for seating purposes, but I think they did it a little too much (a few people in the span of a few minutes). She said unfortunately they were a little behind and asked if we would like to have a seat at the bar while we waited. We agreed and she showed us to the bar where she promptly changed the channel to the game! Talk about amazing hospitality and customer service!!! We went with the cheddar cheese fondue and it was so good with the veggies. The resteraunt was dim and made for a nice romantic dinner. When we walked in they had Princess Belle in the front making balloon animals for the little princesses. She was great, super friendly and interacting with the girls. They also passed out little tiaras and wands to each girl. My daughter is balloon crazy so she loved this. The whole food experience was amazing. The only things I was diappointed in was the "Fiesta" Cheese wasn't very spicy even after we added a container and a half of jalapenos (it must have been a mild jalapeno day) and whatever the adult chicken was marinated in wasn't to my taste. :0) Overall it was an amazing experience and was a lot of fun!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPrincess-tastic!We attended the Princess Day. It's a great place for dinner if you'd like dinner to be the evening's event (which was our intent); expect to take at least two hours eating. The menu has a great variety of all four courses. We were there to celebrate a special birthday and I ordered a drink I did not like - there was nothing wrong with it, I just didn't like that flavor. The service was a little bit slower than usual this last time and the restaurant was not packed at the time. We had the bacon and brie cheese fondue and it was yummy. For our main course we had fondue fusion and replaced the duck with shrimp. All of the sauces were good as usual. We were so full by the time dessert came around we took it to go. I didn't know that you could take it to go so I was pleasantly surprised by that.
