We have eaten there before for our anniversary and Valentines. We brought our two boys with us this time. I received an email for Mother's Day special, unfortunately, that wasn't available on Saturday as advertised. We ordered off the standard menu. The first course was not as good as others we tried. One son (16) didn't care for it, but other (9) gobbled it up! It was different dining for them, but they loved it. Dessert was delicious. We love coming to The Melting Pot. It is a BIG splurge on the budget, but when done once or twice a year, it's worth it! We'll be coming back. The hostess was welcoming and helpful. Paul, helped us choose an amazing wine. Our server, Thomas was attentive, gracious and gently educated us in our choices and the art of fondue. We appreciated meeting the manager Kelly. We felt relaxed and even enjoyed the music, which seem tailored to a romantic evening. The food was amazing! The duck and beef terriake were perfectly marinated. Dark chocolate dulce fondue is now our favorite dessert! The special touches of an anniversary card and the strawberry/chocolate plate made our experience so memorable! Thank you all for a unique dining adventure! The choices available are overwhelming but a wonderful surprise. I recommend trying it at least once, and now that we have we both agreed not again :( not that everything wasn't good the service was spectacular its just that after we did the 4 course experience and paid 50 each we were hungry within half an hour of leaving the amount of food for the price wasn't worth it to us. So we won't be going again but it makes a great bucket list restaraunt! It's also a restaraunt that will go out of their way to cater to a special evening if that's what you're looking for, but I'm sure a lot of restaraunt would.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMUnforgettable experienceThis was a first-time visit to a Melting Pot. We were celebrating our anniversary, and it certainly did not disappoint. The day before our reservation, I received a call confirming the reservation and details about our celebration including the spelling of my wife's name. We arrived a little early, but they were able to accommodate with very little wait. The manager (April) stopped at our table to congratulate us and delivered a card personalized to my wife and I. Sean was our server and was very helpful. His recommendations were spot on, and his service was perfect. Nice balance of timing and privacy. However, found the menu to be a bit confusing and even the waitress said that was the hardest part of the dining experience. For the price that is charged, it was felt that the portions were small and in some ways you are reminded of that as you try to figure the menu out. My feeling is that the Melting Pot caters more to special occasions where people may be willing to spend a little more to get a bit of special attention towards the occasion (be it birthday, anniversary etc). Also, very misleading menu... $10 desserts are $10 Per Person, but the menu, and the waiter, made it sound like it was per dessert. It was hard to imagine the size of a single serving. I came with three other friends, we are not unhealthy, and definitely not over weight, but probably could have each devoured a "2 person fondue" by ourself. I originally requested a table and we were originally placed by the bar. There were more groups in this area, so my wife asked our waiter if we could move somewhere with less noise. Within five minutes he found us a quiet and more private table for two. We really appreciated them accommodating us in a polite manner. The food and service were excellent for the rest of the stay! The table was small and cozy in a dim lit corner, perfect for snuggling between courses. There were rose petals scattered on the table and a box of yummy chocolates! The server let us taste a couple wines to pick just the right one. And the food was amazing! It was fun, interactive, and just the perfect evening! Well worth the cost! They had an earlier than usual opening (2pm), and it felt like they weren't ready for the guests with the 2pm reservations. We waited at street level until exactly 2:00 when they opened the gate for us. We then waited another 10-15 minutes to be seated. The rest of the meal was outstanding.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were only in Portland forWe were only in Portland for one night and wanted to go to a Melting Pot somewhere on our trip back from Southern California to Canada. We thought Portland would be a great spot to find out why my husband had been raving about the experience, having been to the one in Tacoma on a business trip years previous. We were with our two sons and they loved every course of our meal and it was nice to be able to eat slowly and have conversation instead of finishing a meal quickly and then just heading back to a hotel. The portions were good, I was pleased that a broth was used instead of hot oil, and we savoured every bite of our chocolate fondue dessert!

It was a very nice experience, with tasty food, and a great place for a quiet dinner. When we arrived the hostess said 'We have your table ready.' We walked around the dining area, turned the corner and there was a very small half table next to the kitchen door! My face fell and my husband just grinned and shook his head. I was so disappointed particularly since we passed two very nice tables that were unoccupied. I then asked her if we could have one of the other tables and she moved us, but I had to ask. I was surprised that they would put someone in that table when they knew it was a very special occasion. However, the waiter was fabulous and they had a card and a dessert plate with '20th' written in chocolate.
