Diner Reviews
  • "My husband took me to the melting pot in Littleton, CO to celebrate our engagement. We have gone here for many many special events ever since. This was our first visit to the Portland Melting Pot. Our waiter happened to be from our home state of Colorado and a recent Oregon transplant too. We had a great discussion and he was so friendly and professional. He made our very shy daughter totally open up. Our food was fantastic and consistent from restaurant to restaurant. The downtown location has a cool entrance, but it's not nearly as the Unique Colorado locations."

  • "I've been to the Melting Pot before and had a good time but this time the while visit was less than. Our server was off his game, kept forgetting everything, took forever to get water,, when he finally brought out food he forgot the chocolate. The. That was cold because the burner wasn't set high enough. He promised to come back very shortly, and about 20 mins had gone by before we saw our server again. By that time we had finished with our lukewarm chocolate (we had to adjust the burner settings). I'm all for lending a hand but the whole thing seemed rather disjointed. I will return at some point I'm sure."

  • "My experience at the melting pot was absolutley amazing!! The food was delicious and definatley makes me want to come back! However, the only problem i had with the melting pot was the prices. It's spendy but worth it!"

  • "I took my teenage daughter and her friends out for dinner after shopping. The interaction and "communal" cooking of our dinners at the table made it a fun experience. Our server was very friendly and appeared to enjoy explaining the process and dishes to us. Definitely a fun place to take the family!"

  • "Every year we come to the melting pot this year was our 3rd anniversary and apparently when you visit more then once the service goes down hill it was nice to be left alone but we felt very neglected I do expect a certain level of professionalism because it is a 50$ a plate per person. Very disappointed in our service this year we were there for a total 2.5 hours and seen our server 4 times. And he messed up on our dessert and didn't really do anything about. And when refilling the water there was a straw wrapper that was poured in the glass did he notice no we just fished it out ourself and he walked away. There is so much more to say but not enough space to say it all. Never again will we be spending our special day here."

  • "The food was ok, not sure if I would justify spending what we spent for what we received. One of the cheese fondue had a rather bizarre taste to it and when we informed our waiter that we absolutely did not like it we were pretty much reprimanded for choosing it. Other than that the only other thing that was a little unpleasant was the heat of the room. It was VERY hot at our table. It made for a rather uncomfortable night. I haven't been back since and not sure if I will. The concept was great! Execution not so much."

  • "My 22 yr old son and I are from the Tri-Cities in WA state. We went to The Melting Pot after my son's appointment with an eye specialist where he received the news that he needed corneal transplants. The Melting Pot was just what we needed to lighten our mood and relax. Our waiter, Mike, was very cordial and attentive, and even the neighboring waiter, Jerry, talked with us and made us laugh. In fact, my son commented on how impressed he was with how the staff 'took care' of each other. The fare we ordered was simple, but tasty. We're going to be back and forth to Portland for his transplant and follow up appointments and we plan to come back."

  • "The food was good, hard to mess up since we are cooking it ourselves. It is very very spendy for what you get, but it's all about the experience. The service was good, professional. The hostess was friendly. The worst part was the way the girls were dressed...the hostess and one of the female servers (I only saw two girls, not sure how the rest were dressed). Their dresses were so short I could almost see their rears. Very inappropriate for a romantic setting..they should look classy, not trashy. There was a group of 8 young ladies....very loud. They should've been put in a private room somewhere away from everyone else so as not to ruin the experience for others."

  • "Made a reservation to celebrate our Anniversary. The Melting Pot went above and beyond expectations. The service and food was amazing! Were presented with a complimentary greeting card from the restaurant and enjoyed a romantic and memorable dinner. We ordered the Crave Combo and felt like the 3 courses and 1 hour time frame worked well for what we'd planned for our evening. Our waitress what very attentive to our needs and fun and friendly. Planning to return in the future and have already raved to many of our friends. Highly recommend. Well worth the money."

  • "We enjoyed the experience of cooking our food at the table, we had the coq au vin broth fondue with a nice variety of food to dip, the Mahi mahi was fresh and I liked the ravioli. The chocolate fondue desert was o.k., I enjoyed the fruit but not all the marshmallows and not very good cake pieces(not worth $20.00). Our bill was $92.00 for 2 ,we each had only a glass of wine, entree & desert, ouch!"

  • "Went into Portland for a special birthday weekend and went to the Melting Pot and had had the best night EVER!! We got there early because we weren't sure about traffic so we went to the bar and had a drink but didn't wait long till they came and got us for our table. We were there for 2 hours but didn't even feel like it because it was so much fun."

  • "This was our first time having fondue and they were very helpful. The fondue pots are on the table in front of you and just interchanged for the course. I loved that we got to cook the meat in a broth to our liking. They bring you as many dippers as your fondue pot can take."

  • "Went with my boyfriend just for cheese fondue and chocolate fondue and our waiter was fantastic and so was the food! We would have tipped more if we had the budget for it :)"

  • "This was our first time to the Melting Pot. We had heard good things about it and this was a special occasion (birthday) so I surpriesd my husband by taking him there. Everything was perfect from the moment we entered the door! Even before, in fact, as they called to see if it was a special occasion and also told us where to park to get a partial refund. Upon entering the door they had a birthday card for husband and everyone we encountered wished him well. The menu was explained and our waiter, Ben, served us with a smile and great suggestions, which we went with and were absolutely thrilled. Good food, good wine, and great ambience made this a wonderful nite that we will remember forever. Thanks and we will be beack :)"

  • "I took my wife here for our 25th anniversary. I was able to order the "Lovers Lane " package which included a dozen roses on our table, preferential seating in a secluded corner (although a bit too close to the door to the kitchen), a framed photo of the two of us and our four course meal. The fondue was good. I felt it was a bit bland but my wife loved it. The salads were excellent. Dinner included lobster tail, shrimp, pork medallions, duck, steak, chicken and a selection of veggies. All excellent. The dessert, we got the Yin Yang, was excellent. Our server, Jeff, was excellent. Knowledgeable, friendly and had wonderful timing. I would highly recommend The Melting Pot for a special occasion."

  • "This was a wonderful experience, it was my birthday and I had my two children with me. The staff was very friendly and the kids didn't want to leave! I felt very spoiled, the staff wrote in a birthday card for me and decorated a plate with chocolate, wonderful! The kids and I are counting the days til we return, thank you!"

  • "This is my wife's favorite place to go for her birthday. We've made it a tradition to come here every year. The food has been very consistent and service is usually very good. This year was especially good in my opinion. The salmon and strawberries were exceptional on this visit. The other food was very good as well. Our server was very friendly and upbeat. She was very attentive with good timing and made us feel very comfortable. The Yin Yang and Chocolate martinis were very good as well."

  • "They had a card delivered to our table & spelled out "Happy Birthday" in chocolate on her dessert plate! Cheese fondue was first course.we chose the cheddar-very savory and tasty. They serve it with raw veg mix, bread & apples. They'll bring complimentary extra items if you need seconds. Salad is second & there are several types. Third course was entree/meat. You choose a broth mixture or oil to cook your meat in. Try the Mojo! You are served mushrooms, broccoli and potatoes with the entree & six different sauces. Finally, here comes the glorious chocolate fondue!Dippers include cheesecake, poundcake, brownies, rice crispy treats,& my favorite- Strawberries!AND they'll bring seconds of anything on the desert plate! -total w/tip-$115!"

  • "The food was great. The problem was the wait between courses. After the cheese fondue it took well over 20 minutes before getting our entree. The place was not that busy but waitress said they had a large group which put back our entree. Another long wait for dessert. The broth was boiling so long and steaming all over that at least half was boiled away before they removed it. I almost reached over to turn it off. I asked for ice as my glass was half full of warm water. She brought dessert and said she would get my ice but took another long time. Then she just brought a pitcher with a little ice in it and poured into my half full water. I ended up with luke warm water. We don't drink so that could be the problem. I still tipped over 20%."

  • "The service was outstanding. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable about our food. My wife and I were celebrating our 6 month wedding anniversary and when the desert came out he wrote happy anniversary on a plate. That ment a lot to us."

  • "This place is more about the experience and not so much about the food. It's a great way to have a nice enjoyable conversation with your table group. Food was OK, nothing special and was pretty expensive for what you get $55 per person for a 4 course meal. I wouldn't go if you're looking for a great meal. It's definately a place to just spend quality time with your friends or family."

  • "The Melting Pot was a nice place for a nice, romantic evening with my significant other. We were nestled in a small booth with a curtain to shield us, which made the night even better. The spinach artichoke cheese fondue was wonderful! It was actually the best part of our meal."
