The Melting PotHidden Gem
The Melting Pot is hidden away in an average strip shopping center. However, once inside you feel transported to a quiet, relaxing spot with ambience. While the full experience takes a couple of hours, they are wonderful hours. The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. We chose the four course option. . . .cheese fondue, salad, meat and fish, and delicious chocolate fondue with dippers. I particularly enjoyed the traditional fondue and the chocolate fondue. My husband, daughter, grandson and I will definitely return.

We had a great time! Since it was a special occasion, we appreciated how quiet it was. The service was great and the food excellent.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! We went for our anniversary and I was nothing less than blown away with everything! The server exceeded all of our needs and explained the menu to us very well. The food was outstanding and especially the desert was to die for. I will DEFINITELY be back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways fun!Melting Pot is always a fun place to go with 2-4 friends. We are always laughing and having a great time!
It is pricey. Very easy to drop $60-$70 per person if you do the 4 entree deal and have a couple of drinks. However, it is also a great place to wind your evening up and just have a dessert fondue ($6.95 pp) or to meet for drinks and have cheese fondue (@$6.95 pp). I do this quite often.
Portion sizes are just right although since changing their menu ravioli isn't on the "classic" entree selection as it was in the past.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated ou 13th weddingWe celebrated ou 13th wedding anniversary at The Melting Pot in Newport News. The only negative I ever have is $.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Time at a Fabulous PlaceI took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we had such a great time! The waitress was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! You would think you wouldn't get full, but we could barely make it to the dessert round. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone...and not just for special occasions!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great both built justHad a great both built just for 2 for my wife and I. The service was quick and ready to explain appetizer, entree, and desert options. It was a great dinner experience in a quiet spot that allowed my wife and I to experience a special night together.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSome good, some greatTucked away in a relatively obscure location in a large shopping center. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, which is very dark. How dark? Dark enough to make it very difficult to even read the menu.
Highlights: drinks and dessert.
The food was very good. If you order the four-course meal the food will ambush you! We enjoyed the cheese fondue course, and the salads were tasty. My wife ordered the salad with the candied pecans, and we were very happy with the quality of the lettuce used. When the main course arrived it didn't look like much meat. However, by the time we had finished the main course we hardly had room for dessert - ambushed by the deceptively large quantity of food!
Service was slow, but solid.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprised how many guestsSurprised how many guests brought kids to this fancy restaurant - I think that says more about this neighborhood/area than the restaurant itself. The staff and food were perfect and just like the branches I've been to near DC.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe appetizer and dessertThe appetizer and dessert were fantastic. The salad and entree were decent. I would love to go back and go for just dessert sometime.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dining ExperienceI wasn't sure if I would like the New format for their menu, but it's actually better. I hope they still do the themed dinners as they have in the past with some special choices. THe food is always great because you cook it! It's a great place for a long slow romantic dinner.. Don't miss out on this great dining experience!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic Birthday DinnerLove the ambiance, it was romantic, the service was great and the good was amazing!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasion placeBecause of price we use it for special occasions. Like the slow pace for the meal allowing time to talk, relax and enjoy each other.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent; serviceFood was excellent; service was excellent. Prices are a bit steep, but the whole experience makes up for that.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experience - wentExcellent experience - went for Anniversary with my wife. Excellent food and good service - there was a few moments where there was a little too much time between waitress visits, but overall was a wonderful dining experience and left stuffed. Plan for a lengthy dinner stay compared to regular restaurant especially if you go for the 4-course plan.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
