Diner Reviews
  • "Enjoyed the ambience and unique eating experience. However, portions were small and prices were high! For example, a small salad costs $6, a small cheese fondue is $9/person. A steak entree is $25/person. Comes with a VERY small potato, a few mushrooms and a bit of zucchini. Chocolate fondue is about $8/person. The guys were still hungry after dinner--even after they ate the ladies' vegetables and potatoes."

  • "We ordered our main entree' with cooking oil and bullion was delivered. By the time we began cooking our entree' and realized the mistake, it was too late. The sides and the cooking sauces were different than we are routinely accustomed to when dining at the Melting Pot restaurants near our home in Florida and that, too, was a disappointment."

  • "Go for the experience, not the food. Cheese fondue was just ok, salad not memorable, entre was medioce. The best part of the meal was the chocolate. Red meat cooked in the broth resulted in tough flavorless meat unless you gave it the time to rest. We took our kids 12, 13 for the 12 year old's birthday at his request. He is quite the foodie and an accomplished chef himself. He was not impressed. He said he would have been happier going to Culver's and coming just for the chocoate fondue. Completely overpriced at $250 4 courses-4 diners. At least now we can say we've done it. Service was good. We had an amusing server and he was attentive."

  • "Everything was wonderful! Even the restrooms were nice."

  • "We really enjoyed the time that we got to sit and talk as we didn't feel RUSHED at all during the dinner portion. We were able to take our time and sit, and enjoy our company."

  • "Melting Pot was an awesome experience. Inlaws met the inlaws and we had a blast. We had great customer service, great food, and a unique experience. Its a great place for a really long dinner and spending good quality time with people."

  • "My husband and I had eaten at the Melpting Pot some time ago. I told both of my older children about the unique fun that a fondue meal offers, and I had the opportunity to share the experience with them. We all enjoyed the experience! What appears to be not much food to fondue adds up in the belly fast. It was apparent that my 22 year old son was thinking that there would not be enough food as he stated prior to dining how famished he was. By the end of dinner, he was pleasantly surprised how much he was filled up! Again- another opportunity for me to say "I told you so!""

  • "One of the two burners weren't working at our table. We told the server and he said that the light was on so it was working. We had them swap pots from one burner to another so the food would cook. He finally brought his manager over who confirmed the burner was out and switched it out."

  • "The Melting Pot was very disappointing. The prices were ridiculously high for a very small amount of food. We were actually still hungry after our meal!"

  • "Don't plan anything the night you go because this may take forever. I took my sister to celebrate her birthday but she hated it because our service was so poor. Took half an hour after we ordered them to get drinks. She sat with stream boiling in her face while we waited and waited for salad. By the time our meat came out there wasn't enough coq au vin left to cook them. The server never checked on us and we were left hanging without being able to order more drinks or more broth. We planned on the chocolate course for dessert but decided to skip it after that. 1 drink, salads & a main course took us a full 2 hours and we ended up having less than half of what we wanted to order. Frustrating! I feel bad for choosing this place to celebrate."

  • "Went there to celebrate a birthday, and from looking around the restaurant, lots of people were doing the same. Overall, expensive for what you get."

  • "The Melting Pot in Minneapolis is always a great time. Definitely a spot for a table of four because there is plenty of time to converse while table top cooking happens."

  • "My daughter and I came here before seeing "My Fair Lady" at the Guthrie. This is a great choice for a pre-theater dinner. Our reservations were for 4:00, we were done at 6:05, and it was easy to drive up Marquette and over to the Guthrie before the 7:00 show. Fun food, quiet ambiance -- great for conversation."

  • "We go to the Melting Pot about once a year - it's just a fun place to go. On this occasion we took our 11 yr old son for his birthday and during lunch. Not a busy time and the waiter was super nice and attentive, especially to our son. Great time overall but two things - sure would be nice if they had smaller lunch options and secondly while the cheese and dessert course are the standouts which the protein plates had a little more flavor (sauces go a long way) but meat overall just OK."

  • "We came here for our birthday celebration. Fabulous time! Be prepared for a more mellow dining experience bc it took us about 3 hrs to complete the full 4 courses. The booths are high back and private as well there were tables at the end that had curtains that could be drawn so ppl could not see your table. All five of us enjoyed very single aspect and let's bit forgot the delicious food! Be adventurous with the additional spices for your broths....yeah no oil they use veggie broth for cooking main course...yummy! If I lived in the city I would come back here repeatedly. P.S. Our waiter was awesome and knowledgeable!"

  • "We decided to try this place as it was recommended to us by friends but seemed different than what we are used to, so we were skeptical at first. We greatly enjoyed the experience and the food was delicious. We shared a four course meal and added a lobster tail to share. Both of us were extremely full and satisfied. This is a great place to eat and we look forward to eating there again in the future."

  • "We really wanted to try this restaurant as we both like fondue. We were both extremely disappointed in the food quality. We generally go take our servers suggestions or go with signature items. Their signature salad......a very basic side salad with peppercorn ranch dressing...boring. We ordered a cheese fondue to start and it was just average, could have done much better at home. Then the entree's... extremely small portions. The duck was decent, the filet was fatty and full of tendons, not sure it was even a filet. We finished with a chocolate fondue and this is the only reason it gets 3 stars. It was very good, but once again very small. We both left hungry and very dissatisfied. Four words....don't waste your money!!!!"

  • "We returned to The Melting Pot for the third time in three years and it is a fan favorite. The experience is second to none and so worth it. You can enjoy fondue from cheese to chocolate, and main courses in between done in a fondue style as well. Teenage kids and adults alike love it and we will return again for certain."

  • "My first time having fondue was at the melting pot and the service was phenomenal! Its nice place to go if you want to have fun cooking your own food and have lots of time to talk, and you get plenty of food with any order you get! It was a little pricey but worth it!"

  • "This restaurant does a great job of making a fun evening out, extra special. Our food was wonderful, great suggestions by our server, and the service in General was FABULOUS!! We had the four course dinner, and had a great time. So much fun."

  • "My daughter had been wanting to go to the Melting Pot after fonduing at home for the first time recently, so for her 15th birthday we took her there. Our waitress Nicole was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, for a family of 5, even for a special celebration, the Melting Pot offered little more than a fun way to dine with a successful fondue. We all ordered separate entrees and received a sampling of meats and vegetables. Nothing really stood out. Certainly meats you could prepare yourself at home. A totally fun experience, but incredibly expensive! The food was fine, but not worth the price! You pay for the experience, not the food."

  • "If you want plenty of time to catch up or get to know someone, this si the perfect place to go for a great dinner and experience. Because of the way the food is cooked, this is not a dinner location for people who want to get in and out. Fantastic experience though! The waiters were very helpful and engaging, food was tasty, and the environment was more on the romantic side."

  • "It was restaurant week so it was a busy night, especially for a Thursday. We amended our reservation and still were seated at a table for 2 people. That is the one thing that bummed me out. There was a party of two seated at a table for four right next to us."

  • "I've always wanted to go there, and I finally got to try the Melting Pot for the first time during restaurant week. I would recommend it to anyone looking to try the Melting Pot for the first time. We did lunch and added the cheese trio for an appetizer and it was the perfect amount of food. If you see them on the restaurant week special again, definitely go for it!"

  • "Service and food were good, but I agree with other reviewers very overpriced for small plates of food that you have to cook yourself."

  • "I came in with a group of 5 other friends. Most of us had been there before but for those who hadnt our server did a great job explaining how the menu worked and all of the different options. We had a great time."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here for the first time Friday for our anniversary. I had reserved a table 3 days in advance. When we arrived, we were told we needed to wait for the table to be ready, which was an annoyance because that defeats the purpose of a reservation. Our host was very attentive and informative and gave us amble time to look over the menu and figure out what we wanted. The cheddar cheese was a little bland, if there is a next time we go, definitely going with the Wisconsin trio. For the rice you pay, you get very little meat, kind of disappointing. On the upside, you go at your own pace and cook the food to your liking. All in all, it was ok. Nothing extravagant but not terrible either."

  • "Our server, Zachary, was very helpful with all the menu options and it made for an amazing first experience at the melting pot! I loved that he made the fondu right in front of us and told us everything he was doing.. Great experience, can't wait to go back!"

  • "Awesome food. A great cooking experience!!! The caeser salad needs help. My salad seemed swamped in dressing and not crunchy. My wife's house salad was just a simple salad with regular ranch dressing. There has to be a special touch to the salad in order to differentiate between restaurant salads. I would not compare Outback Steakhouse with The Melting Pot but there salad is ten times unique and better. Thank you!"

  • "Request for one of the curtained private booths. It is quieter there and better service. The noise level in the main area was ok. We were there on a Saturday evening and were near a table full of intoxicated ladies celebrating a birthday. We have been there before in the curtained area and had a wonderful time. The service and food is amazing. Go there even just for the dessert fondue alone. So good!"

  • "Good for a special occasion, one time experience. For price, will probably try somewhere else next time. 2 Beers, 1 mixed drink, 2-four course dinners and desert was $130 w/tip."

  • "The three course fondue meal was excellent and the staff were so friendly and courteous. We had a lovely meal!"

  • "Remember when fondue was in vogue back in the 70s? Remember how it quickly went out of vogue? That's because of the hassle (and danger) of doing it yourself at home. The Melting Pot is the answer! All the hassle has been taken out of fondue, but all the fun left in, with the added bonus of so many options for deliciousness! For a first-timer I have to recommend the 4-Course Experience. This lets you try everything available, but be forewarned: You will be overstuffed. It doesn't seem like you will be because each course looks so small by itself, but it adds up to a lot of food by the end of the night. The only drawback was depending on where you're seated at the table, reaching the second fondue pot can sometimes be a bit tricky."

  • "We had heard great things from friends about the restaurant. It exceeded our expectations. It is expensive so be prepared. The food was delicious and the experience is well worth it. The staff was very nice. I would say my only negative comment would be that the dining room manager walked by several times without greeting us at all. I'm very happy with our experience and we will go back in the future."

  • "We had the salad, entree fondue, and chocolate fondue. The entree was a lot more filling than expected when you see it brought to on the plate uncooked. I loved the teriyaki marinated sirloin and my husband liked the salmon best. Toffee crunch fondue was unbelievable and our favorite dipper was the blondie."
