We had reservations for 6 & got there a few minutes before but still ended up waiting almost 30 minutes for a table. Our server Thomas was great and extremely knowledgeable but I felt he was swamped the entire time. That did not affect his great mood though and I highly respect that. We arrived 15 minutes early at 5:15 and were seated immediately. However, we did not leave the restaurant until 7:15 pm. I'm not sure if they were short staffed or just slow, but the restaurant did not seem "busy" for a Sunday evening.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and our friendly waiter. I didn't expect to have a 2 hour dining experience. This may be the norm and expected at The Melting Pot. I just wasn't aware it would take 2 hours. First time we had been to a melting pot. I have to say it was pretty good - good food, excellent service. In my personal opinion, tho, fondue should be limited to cheese and desert, not main courses because u have to cook each bite individually and it ends up taking forever! It is not just dinner--but an experience. The atmosphere is always welcoming and romantic. We have found it to be a great place for anniversaries, special occasions, and date nights. The blackberry-sage lemonade is absolutely amazing...and we have never had a cheese fondue, entree, or chocolate fondue we regretted. I would highly recommend the Melting Pot! It couldn't have been a better experience. There was no wait. The hostess was extremely nice. Our waiter was exceptional. He was very authentic. You could tell he enjoyed his "job." He was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. He was always one step ahead of us as far as refills or any other needs we had. he did this too without being obtrusive. It was a pleasure to have him as our waiter. The owner of the resuarant stopped by and was very nice and sincere.
The food was incredible.
The atmosphere was awesome too.
It was just an all around wonderful dining experience. Thank you everyone at the Melting Pot in Cordova, TN !!! A nice place for a romantic dinner for two, a family (with older children, of course), or a business group. Be prepared to spend about 2 hours. With some dinners, you don't want to rush through. Great for special occasions such as the birthday we were celebrating. Birthday packages involving roses and group picture are available. Format requires great service which MP Memphis delivers. Food is excellent and of course the cooking is outstanding. Most of all, our server gave great advice on how to handle each type of food in the hot cheese, oil and chocolate. The salads were great (the Ceasar salad with sugared pine nuts was a pleasant surprise)The cheese course was a little disappointing because the cheddar still tasted too much like the beer base. A reminder of this from the waiter might have steered us to a milder cheese combo. I wish we would have skipped the main course altogether, because of both the higher cost and that it was mostly just "good" not excellent as we had looked forward to. We live 2 hours away so it is a bit of a drive for us but it is worth it. Every drink from the bar I have ever tried was delicious. You should know that you may have to wait for a table if you don't have a reservation. If you have young children, it has more of an adult atmosphere plus with the hot fondue top you would be worried your young child would burn their hand. In today's world everyone wants a flavor safe meal in a quick timespan. If that's what you're looking for, don't waste your time.
However, if you want a relaxing, romantic, and flavorful experience that you can enjoy with a special other or a close group of friends, The Melting Pot is perfect! You'll love the complex flavors of the various dishes. The environment is intimate. The staff is always great. Did I mention the food?
Plan to spend 2 1/2 to 3 hours enjoying time with your company there. Plan to splurge a little on the full 4 course meal. I have heard so many good things. My wife and I ordered a table with two pots, so that we could sample or options.(highly recommend It was good to try different things our first go around. The setting was perfect with the big booths and the dim lights. We will defiantly be back. Service was unbelievable on the other hand they were kind of slow, but service was awesome.
