  • "Always a go to for special occasions. I would not however recommend it for large groups or really any greater than 4. It gets to chaotic and takes away from the experience. The food and style choices are exquisite and the smores chocolate dessert are my favorites."

  • "My wife loves The Melting Pot and requested it for her birthday. The food was very good as always, but the service was excellent. Allisa really made my wife feel special. She remembered about her allergy to strawberries I mentioned when I made the reservation and offered substitutes for the dessert. She was personable and made the experience fun. I made sure to give her an exceptional tip."

  • "My first experience at The Melting Pot was a very good one. We arrived early for our reservation and they got us to our table quickly. The table side service was wonderful and the food was delicious. It seemed that there was special upstairs seating for those who made a reservation. This special seating was intimate, romantic and quite. I really enjoyed my first time at the Melting Pot. "

  • "My fiancé requested The Melting Pot for her birthday dinner. I set the reservation up through Open Table, which was super easy. The next the restaurant called to confirm the reservation and I spoke with somebody about setting up a romantic evening for the two of us. They did a fantastic job. Set us up with a table secluded from the open center of the restaurant and did a beautiful job with rose petals and candles. My fiancé loved it and we had a lovely evening. Thanks Melting Pot. We'll definitely be back."

  • "It's a fun experience to try something new. When you share food though, since you share the cheese and cooking broth, some compromises were made to please everyone. I think it is fun to do now and then, but to really experience it the way you want to it is good to go with fewer people or even just yourself so you can get exactly what you want. I thought the service and atmosphere were great. Whenever we asked for more vegetables and bread, they brought them. Would definitely go again."

  • "Andrew was a great waiter! Food was soooo good! And the spacing between courses was perfect! Can't wait to come back! Only downfall was terrible parking!! Unless you do Valet, you basically have to walk a mile! We ende up finding something though and paid to park there!"

  • "I found the Melting Pot a fun, enjoyable spot for a relaxed pace meal. The ambiance was pleasant in the dinning area, but the bar area was overcrowded. Reservations are a must, even on a week day. The food and service were both excellent without being too overpowering. A lovely evening overall."

  • "The waiter was great and the food was too, especially the fondue and dessert. Nice selection of wines and beers. Leisurely eating experience. Innovative fondue and dessert melted dips."

  • "We ordered 2 of the 4 course experience and it was plenty for 4 of us to share. We also added one child's entree for our 5th person at the table. I have never been disappointed at The Melting Pot although I have eaten too much at times. Sharing 1 of the 4 course experience dinners for 2 people seems to be the right combination for us. This time I didn't feel overstuffed. It was the perfect amount of food. The service and the food was excellent."

  • "It was a great experience and the chocolate fondue was absolutely amazing... I probably would not order the expensive main course again though if you like cooking your steak in a soup broth then this would be your place. Other then that... everything was amazing and super fun! Mike was our server and he was great and informative on the menu."

  • "I grew up on traditional Swiss fondue and beef fondue that my parents used to make for us. I've always loved fondue and I wish there was a Melting Pot closer to our house. My husband and I came here for the Unlimited Fondue event and it did not disappoint. We tried the feature cheese fondue which was delicious and followed it up with the Caprese Salad. Our entree was cooked Mojo style and then we finished it off with the Dark Chocolate Berry fondue which was delicious."

  • "We had a great first experience here! It was my Mom's birthday and everything was perfect! From Andrew, who walked us upstairs to our table, to our server, Leah. She was amazing! She really made it a fun night for us! She was very patient with educating us since we were newbies!"

  • "We have enjoyed the melting pot in every location, and this one is no exception. We sat upstairs and it was noisy but the service and food were excellent as always."

  • "Took my daughter and girlfriend here for daughters 19th birthday. Started out great but our server got a 20 top and we became non important. Told management then assured us they would keep an eye on us and they failed again. After 2 hrs and still no desert I asked form something to go which they gladly charged me for instead of offering it for free. My daughter was very disappointed and so was I. Never will return to this location."

  • "Good for special occasions as it is definitely "pricey". Food is excellent. Complex menue choices were well explained by the excellent staff to our satisfaction. Outdoor seating was very much enjoyed even without a view. Very good for groups to have more choice and split the bill!"

  • "My boyfriend and I love the melting pot and from our experience the la jolla one is better than the gaslamp. This time was no different, the food was great, our server Matt was amazing and we had a wonderful date."

  • "My boyfriend and had Tony for our server and he was amazing. He cared about what we thought he gave us good ideas and guidance when we needed it. Overall great experience."

  • "We have now enjoyed the La Jolla Melting Pot several times. We love to show it off to friends and family, and to make dinner a special occasion just for the two of us!"
    Dined on 3/12/2014
  • "The cheeze and chocolate fondue courses were fun and quite tasty, but the main courses were expensive relative to their small size and the novelty of waiting for everything to cook wore off quickly. Their $20 3-course special (salad + both cheese and chocolate fondues) for $20 pp is a good value if you're in the mood for a light meal with a great desert. To sum up, go for the novel experience but not the food as there are many better restaurants in San Diego for the cost of a meal at this restaurant."

  • "I love the place and the food. I've been once before for Valentine's Day as well, and this experience disappointed me because the waiter didn't offer the complimentary champagne toast or a memorabilia picture which I was really looking forward to. He was hardly around and was quick to be there and then go onto something else, so I was unable to ask for the picture myself. When my husband and I finished our food, it was late and I didn't want to be a bother (and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt for it being so late 11pm), so we paid the bill and left. Despite that little disappointment, I still recommend it and would go back."

  • "This was our first time there, and food and service were exceptional. Great location. You should valet it for parking, which made it more convenient. Love, love, loved it!"

  • "Second time here, receptionist had a major attitude. Service was good, very expensive for size of portions. Very loud recommend going to the gas lamp location."

  • "The Melting Pot is Truly a delightful dining experience!! Great for any special night out. From the artichoke and cheese fondue to enjoying a glass of port with the chocolate fondue dessert! Delectable!! Our waiter, John, was charming and took very good care of our party of five "girls". Very good service. Expect to spend some time to savor the courses and a little more money then you'd regularly spend on dinner, but THIS is an experience you won't regret! Highly recommend!"

  • "In addition to the wonderful food I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Melting Pot had that rarity of a drink, Argentine white wine, on their wine list. I have been unable to find any other restaurant in the area that has such a variety of drinks on offer. The one complaint I have is that the service was on the slow side, especially since I was there relatively early on a Thursday night."

  • "There is no parking lot, so be prepared to use valet or hoof it from a side street. But other than that, this is a wonderful example of how to do fondue. The quality of ingredients is excellent, the options wide, and the setup great."

  • "We had a great time at the Melting Pot. It was our daughter's 15th birthday and she and her friends were treated to chocolate dipped strawberries and non-alcoholic champagne. They were seated upstairs and my husband and I sat downstairs with our son. Worked out perfectly. Service was excellent. The waiters were friendly and helpful and gave good recommendations. Martin was our waiter and he was especially great. I felt the portions were generous, the food was fresh and everything tasted wonderful. My only problem was price. It was expensive. The menu and waiters suggest that meals should be ordered as single servings, but we would have been better suited to share. Would love to see a less expensive option for sharing on the menu."

  • "Although the prices are high, you understand why while you're there. Dinner can take up to 2 or so hours (if you do the 4 course like we did). You start off with your cheese fondue, then a salad, your proteins/main dish, and lastly the desserts. I'm sure the reason why the prices range about $38 or so per person is because of how much time you are there dining. Its a very fun and friendly place. My group (of 4) had a blast!!! Food was great. Ambience was okay, wish there was a little more lighting (or maybe where you can turn your light up or dim it yourself would be amazing), it was pretty dark. Highly recommend for special occasions! ALSO, make sure you valet, it's actually cheaper than parking in the hotel (paid double self-parking)."

  • "This was a really fun restaurant to go to, I had had fondue before, but had never been to this restaurant. The experience was great, no one rushed us and we felt like we could have stayed all night if we had wanted to. Even though the restaurant was busy we were given a lot of attention by our waitress and didn't want for anything. The manager came to our table and was very attentive. Definitely a experience worth repeating....."

  • "My wife and I went to the Melting Pot for the first time. She had been wanting to go for a long time and finally had the opportunity to go. The staff was great, the location in La Jolla is very elegant, and the food was superb, especially the pot stickers. Not to mention the chocolates dessert!"

  • "I'd assumed a late reservation would be fine, as the vday menu was set. While the staff was very pleasant, the service took forever (20+ Mins between courses). We were left hungry for half the meal and then tired and ready to leave for the second half. The broth for our food was left standing so long it boiled away and they had to refill it before the food was served. Res. was for 9:30 and at 12:30 we finally had to just ask them to box up our dessert and skip the champagne. The food was very nice but with an important occassion and such an expensive fixed menu it would have been nice to get through our meal in less than three hours. I enjoy this restaurant. The food is great and the staff is very nice, but I don't think I'll be back."

  • "Its my and gf first time trying this place to celebrate vday and i cant complain of anything cause it exceeded my overall expectation... From food, service and ambience... Friendly staff and were seated within 5minutes of waiting... Definitely will come back here for special occasions with my gf..."

  • "My wife and I went to the Melting Pot for a date night. The were slow seating us even though we had reservations. The menu is confusing but our waitress was great at clarifying the options. The food was good and it was romantic to dip and cook at the table. However, it wasn't amazing and there are other places we could dine for that kind of money that would have satisfied us more."

  • "Amazing food and the service is always fantastic. The waiters engage in conversation and I was never left hanging for a drink. Definitely best to leave this place for special occasions and treat yourself to all four courses."

  • "The cheese and the chocolate fondue were absolutely divine! The entree was alright. The flavor of the lot got old and overpowering really fast. The experience was overall great, but when I go back, it'll be on a night when all I'm in the mood for is an appetizer and dessert. Mind you, those two would definitely be filling enough to consider A full meal."
