Diner Reviews
  • "Had an A+ experience. Server was very helpful with recommending the cheese and main course."

  • "Though the waiter was polite and knowledgeable....I felt he rushed us a bit and was not as attentive as previous waiters had been. I couldn't tell if he was rushing because there were quite a few tables or the fact that there were people waiting in the lobby. But I have always felt like I could take my time. For example, we weren't done with our cheese entree when he put the next pot on our table."

  • "I have never been disappointed with this restaurant. The servers are always attentive and the food is always amazing. The only reason I didn't give an excellent rating on the service this time is bc they forgot one of our cheese dipper add ons and the bartender was pretty terrible. The drinks were great but she is not up to their service standards. She was pretty curt when I asked for change at the bar. She stood at another booth right next to me talking to people I think she knew and talked about how bad the food is calorie-wise. WHAT? Why would you do that in a fondue restaurant? No one goes to a restaurant that serves you a bowl of cheese and expects it to be diet food. We don't want to be reminded of that while we are eating it."

  • "Our waiter was awesome, the food was outstanding and really fun to dip and cook and they brought us complimentary champagne for only our 6 months which was really sweet of them to do!"

  • "Very neat place to eat all the food was delicious. I needed the waitress to explain exactly how it worked (Type A) and once I fully grasped what I was getting myself into I was on board 100%. The oddest thing was with the entree's, you actually cook your own meats/veggies. So I had my phone out with the stopwatch going, but trying to juggle my and my wife's skewers in the pot while trying to pull them out at their optimal 'doneness' was nerve-wrecking, so in the end I just dumped all of one kind, let the timer go and use the slotted spoon to divide and conquer. WIN! Sauces were great and we were full well before dessert, so the 4-course meal was more than perfect. Not sure if folks would like it because of the DIY aspect, but I had fun!"

  • "We celebrated my husband’s 29th birthday and everything was wonderful. The food and service were spot on. We enjoyed the more romantic atmosphere but also commented on how great it would be for a group of friends. They were even nice enough to bring us a complimentary glass of champagne because we were celebrating a birthday. Absolutely zero complaints about our visit there."

  • "The service was outstanding; well above any restaurant in the area. The food was excellent and the menu supports a diverse group of people if you want to go with a larger group. Vegetarians, vegans and ovolactarians as well as those who have a broader food spectrum can all find a very nice meal with no difficulty. And the desserts are absolutely heavenly. The ambiance is more geared toward a private couple's evening than an evening with friends. You do need to be prepared for the bill. Ours was about $135 before tip for a 4 course dinner without drinks, but we decided to add duck to our entree selection which would be equivalent to drinks for others. You can get away slightly cheaper, but for a truly special occasion, you won't want to."

  • "Had wonderful service. Our waiter took his time explaining everything and answering any questions."

  • "The Melting Pot has always been a favorite of ours and we are always pleased with the food and atmosphere of the restaurant for a night away from the kids. However, our service left us a little lacking this time. Our server was nice but she seemed slightly overwhelmed by the number of tables she had and that created problems. We got our salad before we finished our cheese course but our wine flight to go with the salad didn't come out till we were almost done with the course. Then we were left with empty glass and fondue pots for long periods of time between courses several times throughout the meal. I think there are a lot of new staff members and their training is lacking. Otherwise, it was a pleasant experience."

  • "I loved the atmosphere because it was a special date for me. I found the love of my life and we where celebrating his birthday. His from Switerland and he said it brought back memories of eating fondue with loved ones."

  • "While the awkward location in a strip mall-esque area is not appealing, Melting Pot still delivers. I arrived 15 minutes early to a 7PM reservation and was told I was a bit early and would have to wait to be seated closer to 7PM. No big deal, but were there really that many people there? Not at all, many open seats. Service was a bit slow, so they may have been short that night. Waiter did bring two champagne flutes as an anniversary gift and apology for any delay in service. That really kind of made up for it. Most locations have always given my wife and I one large plate to share from, but here, they really stick to the "individual" entree with separate plates (even if it's the same entree)."

  • "We didn't have a problem with the food. We had a problem with our waiter, Adam. He mumbled and was not very personable. It was like he was reading from a script. He knocked an empty beer bottle over and never apologized. He also wobbled a pitcher and didn't say anything. Explanation of the batters was poor. One of our batters for dipping was too thin. When I mentioned it to him, he said," I'm sure it's awesome, but I'll take it back." It did come back thicker and he admitted we were right. I believe the manager had to take our oil pots away after the oil steam had been blowing in my face for quite some time. I had to move over in the booth to get out of the way. We will go back, but will request to not have Adam as our waiter."

  • "Seen better times. The food was great. Never had issues with that before. The company is what makes the experience fun. The server we had was not the greatest. Sometimes it took 20 minutes before seeing him to get refills on drinks, sauces and other condiments. A little disappointed in the service. The bartender that night was definitely off. Had to return 3 drinks. And others were just made either too strong or just incorrectly. The food and friends made up for the rest of the night."

  • "Took my brother here to share the wonderful experience. Food was awesome as usual. Blake and Adam took care of the table well. Everyone makes us feel so welcome at the Melting Pot! It's the absolute best in our books. :)"

  • "Went for the brunch special of about half-price cheese and chocolate, about $15pp total for both. The cheese was great, just like I remember. The chocolate was great, but there wasn't as much of it as I remember. I got it and said, no, we wanted chocolate for 2. She said it was... Also, they replaced the crown jewel of the desert tray (cheesecake) with pineapple. The lunch drink specials were great ($2 mimosas) and the restaurant was very quiet. Overall the food was great, but I hate to see high end places cheapen the experience with cost cutting measures."

  • "This was the perfect place for a intimate dating experience. We had a wonderful time."

  • "It's our go to date night locale. Too romantic and expensive and takes too long (for dinner at least) to do on a regular basis, but perfect for a special date night. Romantic, great food, great service, great wine list, few great beers. My wife and I have this great agreement. I get to choose and eat most of the cheese and all the seafood. She gets to choose and eat most of the chocolate and all the steak and chicken. We always leave full and HAPPY!"

  • "Myself and 3 friends made reservations for our First Ladies Night Out this Monday at the Melting Pot and we had a fantastic time. We enjoyed sampling wine, delicious food and a great atmosphere. And to top it off I won a $50 gift certificate. Will definitely make plans to go again soon."

  • "We ended up at Melting Pot at the last minute. As usual, the food was good and the dining style allows for lots of conversation. Our server was very sweet and accommodating. The only downsides were that it took about 20 minutes to get a drink I ordered from the bar and even though I don't mind shelling out money for a good meal I still feel like this place is overpriced. Fun for an occasional evening out though. We had a great meal and will definitely be back!"

  • "Took my significant other for a romantic night out. Food was awesome. The whole experience takes a good amount of time so plan accordingly. Allow atleast 1.5 hours. We weren't aware of this and had another event to attend so our wait staff was awesome at getting us out a bit quicker. Noise level was very high with not many customers in. Mostly due to some employees talking extremely loud a few tables away. Defiantly will be back."

  • "As usual I was impressed by the melting pot food, staff, and the overall dining experience. they were helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly and the food was delicious! This wasn't my first visit and it won't be my last."

  • "We took advantage of the "Fairytale Fondue" special weekend event to introduce our two boys to fondue (esp. the chocolate course). The grown-up costumed prince and princess was a lot of fun, as were the kids' parade and the toy swords and crowns our boys received. The food was great, but we wish the kids were allowed to choose which of the four kids' entree items they wanted. We knew they would not want spinach & artichoke ravioli, and one does not like beef, but our waiter told us very cheerfully that they'd get all four items (chicken, teriyaki beef, ravioli and shrimp). We didn't like wasting unwanted food. The other tough part was that service, though pleasant, was very, very slow (2 hr. lunch). This doesn't work well with kids."

  • "My experience here was beyond words. It was the best romantic spot ever. The meal was good, the mood was right. Definitely a keeper spot for me!!"

  • "Have eaten at melting pot multiple times and this time the service was the worst we have ever had. Waitress was rude and put out. Left cheese on table cold and unmixed. Did not want to be serving us."

  • "I was at The Melting Pot in Austin Monday night with a girlfriend, and while the food was great as usual, and our server brought us everything we requested, his service was at a snail's pace. We waited too long between courses, and would have a course 1/3-1/2 finished before we would get the additional items we had requested. I am not sure if he had too many tables? or if he just wasn't efficient in his movements. Either way, we were there for over 2 hours, and only had a 3 course meal."

  • "Hard to find the restaurant as its kind of hidden in a strip mall. Our waitress did a very poor job of explaining how the process worked. I'm sure we ended up ordering/spending way more than we needed to. For $45 a head had better meals but it was nice to have 2+ hours to visit unhurried through the meal."

  • "Nothing like a big pot of melted cheese to soothe the soul. Include lots of fresh bread to dip, fruit and veggies, then follow with a great house salad and then chocolate fondue for dessert. Just the best. The wine was also great, and the waitress was superb. She was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Good job all around!"

  • "Our server was very slow. I think he was new and kinda felt like he could not handle serving us. Both of our drinks ran out twice and we finished each course and it took over 15 mins for our plates to get picked up or the next course to come out even thought we put our whole order in together at the start. We knew exactly what we wanted. It was a little upsetting for our 4 year anniversary dinner. At the end of the night on our check we gave the waiter 40 dollars in cash and our card to cover the rest of the amount. He kept the 40 dollars and applied the whole amount to the card. We had to flag someone down to get it fixed because that is not what we asked him to do."

  • "Our experience was amazing! I picked the Melting Pot for my partner's birthday and knew it would be a special occassion. Everything was perfect and the service was more than I could ask for. Thank you so much!"

  • "Having been to The Melting Pot in other states, the Austin Melting Pot was disappointing. First we waited for 30 minutes between the appetizer and the meal. Next, the chocolate portion of the meal was skimpy on the chocolate. We will go back because we love the fondue experience. Just wish there was another restaurant in Austin that did fondue."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "Had a good time without the vultures around :) Can't wait to see the full-fledged wine list!"
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "Ok, maybe fondue style is a "thing", but this is not really what we expected when we visited the restaurant. It was my wife and I and it took us over 2.5 hours for a full four course fondue meal. And for the price, I honestly would have expected more. For the price, I prefer my steak grilled (a-la-Brazilian) rather than boiled... They weren't even really that busy when we started dining at 3pm, and it seemed like it took forever. (We waited 25 minutes just for them to clear main course and set up Dessert). So, IF you're a fondue lover, that's great and I'm sure this would be perfectly in your style, but it just didn't appeal to us."

  • "This is a place to go if you want a more interactive experience with your food. We chose the four course and truly enjoyed mixing and matching the veggies and the different meats. It was simple, fun and tasty! Our waiter, Michael only elevated the experience further, as he was professional, personable and allowed us to really take our time. We will definitely go back!"

  • "I have always enjoyed The Melting Pot, but this location is getting dated. The wood finishes and seats in the dining booths were worn and cracked, the hostess gave us menus with crusted food on them and there was crud on the seats. The service and food was excellent as always, but their prices are spiking and they are trading out more expensive items with cheaper alternatives while raising the price. For instance, they claim they are now making their bread in-house. It's ok...not as good as what they had before but it's likely saving them money. Also, they cut out the cheesecake on the desert plate for a blondie brownie and pineapple. Another cost cutting measure."
